Hallmark Channel’s Passport to Love programming event is coming in June, including the movie, Savoring Paris. Filmed partly in the City of Light, Bethany Joy Lenz, Stanley Weber and Ben Wiggins star in a story of love, fashion and food. Part of Hallmark’s Passport to Love programming event, the new, original movie, Savoring Paris was partly filmed in the iconic City of Light. According to the official synopsis, the movie tells the story of Ella (Lenz), a burned-out executive of an American food change. She realizes the happiest time of her life during a trip to Paris after college.

Prime Video is serving up drama this week when the new British series “Fifteen-Love” makes its debut on the streamer. Starring Ella Lily Hyland and Aidan Turner, the six-parter follows former tennis prodigy Justine Pearce who makes an allegation against her former coach five years after an injury puts a stop to her career. Created by Hania Elkington, “Fifteen-Love” explores the fictional story of Justine Pearce (Hyland), a young sports prodigy, who enjoyed a meteoric rise in the world of Grand Slam Tennis, aided by her coach Glenn Lapthorn (Turner), with whom she shared an intense rapport.

Together they reached the semi-final of the French Open but Justine’s dream was cut brutally short by a devastating injury and the end of her professional career. Five years on, now aged 22, Justine has a new life as a therapist at her old tennis academy Longwood, but when she makes an explosive allegation against her former coach, everyone is forced to reconsider what they thought they knew about Justine and Glenn’s past success.

Festival midnight slates are always teeming with Z-grade splatter comedies like “Girls with Balls,” which offer the uncomplicated pleasure of attractive young people fighting for their lives in the great outdoors. But first-time director Olivier Afonso, a skilled makeup-effects artist on such films as “Raw” and “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly,” could have complicated his hillbillies-versus-athletes scenario a little more than he has. Is there a scene where members of a women’s volleyball team spike balls into the faces of their adversaries? Of course. Yet that’s about as far as the conceit takes this chaotic, toothless, unfunny Gallic twist on “The Most Dangerous Game,” and it’s not even enough to reach 80 minutes. Netflix has served it up for less discriminate genre fans, however, who are advised to bypass the default dubbed version and watch it in French with subtitles.

When a film announces itself with such a deliberately and unapologetically brash title, it’s clear the filmmakers have probably tried their very best to entertain the intended audience of trash cinema connoisseurs. Thankfully, this knockabout horror/comedy – which is something akin to the characters of Bring It On taking a Wrong Turn – more or less delivers on that promise, but there’s also a fun take on female empowerment and resourcefulness amongst the lashings of gloopy splatter. And any film of this kind which begins with a country singer setting the scene through a ditty – who then periodically crops throughout to comment on the action – is undeniably worth a watch.
