The broadcasting world has lost a legend: Famed TV personality Larry King died at age 87 on Saturday, Jan. 23. The longtime host of popular CNN talk show Larry King Live passed away after battling coronavirus for weeks. He is survived by estranged seventh wife Shawn Southwick King, 61, their sons Chance King, 21, and Cannon King, 20, and his son from a previous marriage, Larry King Jr., 59. Larry is preceded in death by his adopted son Andy King, 65, and daughter Chaia King, 51, who died within weeks of each other last summer. Following the release of a viral, controversial Peloton ad on Thanksgiving, Ryan Reynolds recruited the actress at the center of the commercial for a spoof from his Aviation gin company.

A copyright lawsuit against Netflix over footage used in its Fyre Festival documentary was dropped on Tuesday after the streaming company reached an undisclosed settlement with the plaintiff, according to court documents obtained by TheWrap.

The lawsuit was filed by Clarissa Cardenas, an attendee at the ill-fated 2017 Caribbean music festival who claimed that footage she took at the festival was used in Chris Smith’s documentary “Fyre” without her permission. Filed in March, the suit requested $150,000 in damages. Legal reps for Cardenas and Netflix did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s requests for comment.

The much-publicized festival, which promised luxurious accommodations and musical performances from top pop stars, captured the world’s attention after attendees flooded social media with pictures of poorly constructed tents and widespread chaos at the Bahamas island they had spent thousands to fly to.

Exclusive: Andy King, the breakout star of Netflix’s Fyre Festival documentary, who was willing to “do whatever it took” to make the weekend happen, is set to front his own TV project after striking a talent deal with Spoke Studios.

King, who is a high-profile event producer outside of his work with Billy McFarland’s chaotic con-fest, has been a hot commodity since offering his help on the festival. Spoke Studios, producer of Discovery’s Idaho-set doc series River of No Return, has secured a “sweeping” talent deal in a competitive situation.

Spoke is currently shopping a TV series featuring King, who has been likened to being the Tim Gunn of the event production world, to a range of broadcasters and platforms. The company is also keen to leverage King’s frankness and his talent and brand experience across genres from original talk shows, unscripted series and podcasts.
