Teaser Trailer for VHS Retro 'Captain Flame' Superhero Fantasy Movie
CineLabyrinth has debuted the teaser trailer for a funky new superhero-fantasy movie from Hungary titled Captain Flame, originally Lángkapitány in Hungarian. The super low budget indie film is designed to look like it was made in the 1980s and released on VHS, and this teaser trailer is even promoted as "VHS retro." Captain Flame is about a burned out, alcoholic "superhero" who only has the ability to make a small flame with his fingers. His city is being overrun by anarchists, and he becomes the hero the city needs just when it needs one the most. Captain Flame stars Peter Minarovits, with a full cast of Hungarian dubbing voice actors including Dorina Csifo, Gabor Harsanyi, Andras Borbiro, Borcsa Erdős, Peter Petrik, Zsolt Zagoni, and Karoly Kassai. I'm not sure what to make of this, have a look if you're curious anyway. Here's the first teaser trailer (+ promo) for Balázs Hatvani's Captain Flame,...

Gingerclown Review
Gingerclown might be the strangest damn horror movie I review this year, a fate I valiantly accepted after discovering that rookie director Balázs Hatvani created the very first 3D horror comedy in Hungarian history. Hatvani’s ambitions are sky-high, but a horrid production quickly drags Gingerclown down to an Earthly realm filled with hammy acting, perverse puppeteering, and genre sensibilities that can’t decide between being a Gothic house of horrors or a slapstick comedy gag.

Filing Hatvani’s film under “horror” is an insult to movies that begrudgingly attempt a scare or two, even when laughs are at a premium, as this haunted attraction isn’t worth a lick in the terror department. With each passing moment of high-school-crushing and laughably inferior showmanship, the voices of Tim Curry and Brad Dourif are lost amidst stumbling villains with zero mobility. Cussing teacups, Eastern-European-Californians, shoddy costumes – what the hell did I just watch?...

The HeyUGuys Instant Watching Guide – January 20th 2014
The 2014 Academy Award nominations were announced this week and the relative snubbing of Captain Phillips, Saving Mr Banks, Inside Llewyn Davis and GI Joe: Retaliation is going to have us all cursing the Academy and discussing the actual quality of American Hustle until about May.

Nonetheless one of the great tragedies of my life is that I cannot actually watch absolutely everything ever that comes out and try as I might to rectify this, there simply are not enough hours in the day. There are a couple of films available on the streaming services that have just been nominated for academy awards this week which I have not had a chance to see thus far.

Those films are; The Square, nominated for Best Documentary Feature and now available on Netflix. The Square is about the uprising in Egypt in early 2011 that made the news around the world and the circumstances around this.

New Trailer for Gingerclown 3D Has a Few New Tricks
Another new trailer for the latest horror comedy coming our way, Gingerclown 3D, is home to a couple of new bits of never before seen footage, though after you watch it that may not necessarily apply anymore. Funny how things work sometimes.

Tim Curry (Rocky Horror Picture Show) voices "Gingerclown," while Brad Dourif (Child’s Play) voices "Worm Creature," Lance Henriksen (Aliens) as "Braineater," Michael Winslow (Police Academy) as "Stomachcrumble," and Sean Young (Blade Runner) voices the leggy "Nelly the Spiderwoman." Balázs Hatvani directs.

Synopsis:

1983: A group of high school students are having a great time near Hollywood Hills at the weekend when they bump into the Loser from their school, Sam, who’s just on his way home. Sam would do anything in order to get Jenny’s attention, one of prettiest girls in school. Unfortunately she’s also the girlfriend of the school’s bully, Biff, the quarterback of the football team.

The official trailer for Gingerclown was released today and we are yet to see the face of the clown it's self. You Won't Find Any of the Big Stars in This Gingerclown Trailer
A strangely-paced trailer for Gingerclown 3D hit the web today giving us a better look at writer-director Balázs Hatvani's "homage" to '80s horror-comedies. Tim Curry provides the vocal work for the titular villain. But don't expect to see the creature in this trailer...or co-stars Lance Henriksen, Brad Dourif, Michael Winslow or Sean Young either. They're names are sort of shoehorned into the end. The film is a Hungarian production, apparently. We'll update you if that dastardly "Gingerclown" ever shows his face.

Indie Sci-fi to Give a Damn About: Thelomeris
This steam-punk debut from director Balázs Hatvani is Hungary’s first feature-length sci-fi movie, made up of nearly 80% digital modification. As such, this looks really impressive. Maybe to help international appeal, Hatvani has rounded up some familiar faces for Thelomeris: Mark Hamill, James Purefoy, DJ Qualls and Lance Henriksen.

This is a dark and cold land, where free will is a distant memory and where personal interests rule over real emotions and values. The citizens lived their life in order to serve the energy demand of the fearful colossus, the Clock Factory.

The film doesn’t have a release date announced yet. It’s been in production since 2008. But you can find out more on its Facebook page until then.
