Michael Catangay - Originally born in Queens, New York and raised in New Jersey, Michael now lives just outside of Charleston, SC with his wife and two sons. He graduated from The University of Miami, FL, where he was a double major in Advertising and Theatre Performance. He is an actor and writer who has written two feature screenplays, one short, and has co-written a family feature entitled, The Pointe of Christmas with Gregory Cusumano. He recently finished writing his second TV pilot, Gen X Factor. His romantic comedy, Nina, has placed in The WeScreenplay Feature Competition, as well as The BlueCat Screenplay Competition, Creative World Awards, and WriteMovies. And his short drama, No Roses for Kate, has placed in the Richmond International Screenplay Film Festival, as well as Fresh Voices Screenplay Competition. He also was the Co-Artistic Director of Deuce Theatre, an experimental theatre company that wrote and produced original material. He has co-written several critically acclaimed and audience favorite plays. In addition, he has written seven one-act plays and was entrusted to co-write a companion piece for the South of Broadway's, Southeastern World Premier of John Millington Synge's classic, The Playboy of The Western World.
In addition to being a writer, Michael is a UC San Diego certified copy editor. He has edited several short stories, a children's book, a YA book, websites, and a quarterly magazine.
As an actor, Michael has performed with several local theatre companies in Charleston, and on stages in Miami, Atlanta, and NYC. He also is a regular performer with SWK's vintage live radio show, Shortwave Kitsch which also serves as a podcast. It can be found on all the major podcast channels.
