“The Fear Index,” starring Josh Hartnett, and the third season of iconic Israeli series “False Flag” will both screen at the Berlinale Series Market Selects, whose lineup was unveiled Tuesday.

The latest from “The Crown” producers Left Bank Pictures, Sky Original “The Fear Index” is billed as a fast-paced, gripping Frankenstein-style parable on the dangers of AI. Based on the Robert Harris novel of the same title, its international sales will be handled by NBCUniversal Global Distribution.

Sold by Keshet International, “False Flag” is one of milestone titles that turned Israel’s series into a global brand, with Fox International taking the world on season one at 2015’s Mipcom in its first global acquisition of a foreign-language series.

Season three marks the return of both original series creators, Maria Feldman and Amit Cohen, in a tale which looks set to weave the same web of distrust, deception and sudden twists as the first two seasons.

The program announcements continue for the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival this week, with the full Panorama line-up now confirmed.

Adding to the initial titles unveiled back in April are films including Alain Guiraudie’s Nobody’s Hero, which opens the strand this year.

Also confirmed today were the titles that will participate in the Berlinale Series Market and Co-Pro Series event this year.

Arterton stars as Barbara Parker, a force of nature who takes London by storm during the cultural explosion of the 1960s. The series follows the character’s journey from Blackpool beauty queen to comedy superstar and nation’s sweetheart. Hartnett will star as Dr Alex Hoffman, a computer scientist and genius who is ready with a new AI product launch that promises big returns, but whose roll-out plans go awry. What follows is a journey through the worst 24 hours of his life — cutting across reality, memory and paranoid fantasy, forcing him to question everything he sees with his own eyes.

Adapted by Paul Andrew Williams and Caroline Bartleet, and directed by David Caffrey (“The Alienist”), the fast-paced four-part limited series also has Leila Farzad (“I Hate Suzie”), Arsher Ali (“The Ritual”) and Grégory Montel (“Call My Agent”) in the cast.

AMC+ has picked up a trio of foreign crime dramas to premiere in the U.S., AMC Networks announced Thursday.

“Kin,” starring Charlie Cox, Clare Dunne and Aidan Gillen; “Too Close,” starring “Chernobyl” alum Emily Watson; and “Cold Courage,” starring John Simm, will all roll out on the streaming service later this year. “Cold Courage” will be the first to debut on Thursday, March 11, with the other two to follow later this year.

“Cold Courage,” produced by Lionsgate, is an adaptation of the series of novels by Finnish journalist Pekka Hiltunen. AMC+ announced on Thursday that it has has acquired the rights to three crime drama series: Cold Courage, Kin and Too Close.

The first to premiere on the streaming service is Lionsgate’s Cold Courage, which will hit AMC+ on Thursday, March 11. Based on the award-winning and best-selling novels from Finnish journalist Pekka Hiltunen, Cold Courage follows two women as they collide during a series of murders in present-day London. One of the UK TV events of the year during 2018 was Bodyguard, a dark six-part drama starring Richard Madden and Keeley Hawes. Over 10 million people watched the finale (that's 15 percent of the entire UK population), and everyone was talking about it. The show was quickly picked up by Netflix in the Us, and won a Golden Globe.

There's no denying that Bodyguard was good, but the runaway success of the series meant that another show that started soon after - and was arguably even better - didn't get the publicity it deserved. Informer hit UK TV screens on Oct. 16, just a couple of weeks after Bodyguard's hyped finale, and those who didn't tune in definitely missed out. Luckily, Informer is just hit Amazon Prime Video, so you don't have to be one of them.

The trouble with the format popular among British dramas — a scant number of episodes, standing alone or else subject to years’-long hiatuses between installments — is that fans are bound to be left wanting more. But for everyone who felt a hankering for more propulsive counterterrorism drama after the recent Netflix import “Bodyguard,” with its relatively meager six episodes, can be comforted by Amazon’s “Informer.” Like “Bodyguard,” it’s been brought over from a first airing in the U.K. (where it played on the BBC), and like that show, too, it foregrounds a transporting, granular depiction of contemporary London. While it’s at times glutted with incident and could use a bit less complication and a bit more springy tension, it still makes for a compelling and, finally, rewarding binge.

The story begins with a crystalline moment of horror, as a pair of Londoners’ seeming meet-cute is interrupted by an act of terror.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (Bafta) has revealed its 2018 intake of new members drawn from the film, TV and games industry.

Among the 386 new members are actors Hugh Grant, Willem Dafoe and Hayley Squires, directors Maren Ade (Toni Erdmann), Daniel Kokotajlo (Apostasy) and Michael Pearce (Beast), film execs Shana Eddy-Grouf (Studiocanal) and Katie Goodson-Thomas (Fox Searchlight), and La La Land producers Jordan Horowitz and Fred Berger.

Former UK and Ireland Screen Stars of Tomorrow in the new intake include producer Fodhla Cronin O’Reilly and actor Jessie Barden.

Debuting at the 2018 London Film Festival this is Netflix’s Been So Long, Tinge Krishnan’s London based musical starring Black Mirror and Chewing Gum’s Michaela Coel, George MacKay, Game of Thrones’ Joe Dempsie, Luke Norris, Arsher Ali, Arinze Keen and Ronke Adekoluejo. Netflix is having an excellent 2018 when it comes to the horror genre. The streaming giant’s Spanish-language “Veronica” has everyone talking this month, and last month it was “The Ritual” that was turning heads. Over a month after “The Ritual’s” release, it’s clear the David Bruckner-directed horror movie is a new favorite among genre directors and actors. Horror favorites like Guillermo del Toro and Mike Flanagan have all shared praise for the film, which first premiered at Tiff last year.

“The Ritual” stars Rafe Spall, Arsher Ali, Robert James-Collier, and Sam Troughton as four friends who get together to honor the memory of one of their late pals by setting out on a hiking trip through Sarek National Park in northern Sweden. David Bruckner’s The Ritual is a harrowing blend of fierce and folksy horror, but also comes with a tingle of Fomo. How, you ask? Track back to 2007, when Bruckner teamed with Dan Bush and Jacob Gentry to dial-in their shared narrative The Signal (three directors, three “transmissions”). Between then and The Ritual we’ve seen two Bruckner visions in the form of (fan favorite) anthology segments – “Amateur Night” (V/H/S) and “The Accident” (Southbound) – yet no solo project. Quite simply, The Ritual is too tight and polished for a “feature-length debut,” but that’s what it *technically* is. Genre fans, we’ve been robbed of boatloads more Bruckner these past years (case and point: where the Hell is Brucker’s Friday The 13th).

Another day, another movie about a group of friends that venture into the woods where awful and nightmarish things await them. Yeah, this kind of movie is a dime a dozen, but this one actually looks really good! Netflix produced the film, and after watching this trailer, I can't wait to check it out.

It's movies like this that make going camping and exploring in strange mysterious woods and other places so exciting! You think I'm joking, but I love exploring stuff like this in real life! If I came across woods like this with crazy markings on the trees I'd be the first to run in and starting exploring. I haven't been killed by any creatures or anything yet, so that's a plus!

After premiering at last year's Toronto International Film Festival and screening at Sitges (read Ben Larned's review here), David Bruckner's film adaptation of Adam Nevill's novel The Ritual will find a home on Netflix beginning February 9th. In the meantime, the streaming service released a new trailer that takes viewers deep into the woods and the haunted corridors of the mind.
