Junky Cannibal Cult Horror Thriller 'The Devil Comes at Night' Trailer
Image
"The whole town's acting bizarre!" Uncork'd Ent. has revealed an official trailer for an indie horror thriller film called The Devil Comes at Night, which is yet another "devil" horror title along with I Saw the Devil, Along Came the Devil, Shame the Devil, Prey for the Devil, May the Devil Take You, etc. This premiered last year and will be out on VOD directly in June to watch, heading straight-to-video this summer. A washed up boxer named Ben searching for his inheritance must fight for his own life when he's trapped in his deceased father's farmhouse by a local cannibal cult. So now they're just taking overused tropes from different genres and mashing them up! The Devil Comes at Night stars Ryan Allen, Adrienne Kress, Jason Martorino, Elias Zarou, Shawn Ahmed, Todd Campbell, and Dana Fradkin. This looks as terrible as they come, it makes sense they're dumping this one on video right away.

Boxer Faces Cannibalistic Cult In The Devil Comes At Night Trailer [Exclusive]
Image
Screen Rant is proud to present the first official trailer for Uncork'd Entertainment's new horror The Devil Comes at Night. The film made its world premiere at the Blood in the Snow Film Festival in 2022 and is slated to release on digital and physical platforms this summer. Following washed-up boxer, Ben, and local librarian, Amy, the feature finds the two trapped in the farmhouse of Ben's deceased father and forced to fight off the cannibalistic cult that has been hunting his family for generations.

The Devil Comes at Night stars actors Ryan Allen and Adrienne Kress, both of whom serve as writers alongside director Scott Leaver. Kress is also an executive producer and has worked on projects such as American Gods, The Expanse, and The Hot Zone. Meanwhile, Allen is known for his role as Jack Drake in Titans and was recently featured in the miniseries, Essex County. Jason Martorino,...

‘The Devil Comes At Night’ Review
Image
Stars: Ryan Allen, Adrienne Kress, Jason Martorino, Elias Zarou, Shawn Ahmed, Todd Campbell, Dana Fradkin, Dl MacDonald | Written by Scott Leaver, Ryan Allen, Adrienne Kress | Directed by Scott Leaver

Making his feature debut, co-writer/director Scott Leaver opens with the sight of an empty house. One wonders about this location’s importance as the camera glides through, although that unanswered question is put aside as the focus shifts to a barely conscious man (Ryan Allen) being brought inside. He awakens in the darkness, wondering where his friend has gone before discovering an ominous note warning him to keep the lights off and stay hidden.

As nosy neighbours arrive with beer, the man introduces himself as Ben. To satisfy the neighbours’ curiosity, he shares how the property was owned by his recently deceased father and he intends to sort out some things. What he omits is his real intentions to find an inheritance,...

Disney is Adapting The Explorers Club Into a Movie
Disney is teaming up with producer Michael De Luca (The Social Network, Captain Phillips, Moneyball) to bring us a big screen adaptation of a book series called The Explorers Club. That’s the first book in a trilogy written by Adrienne Kress. The book won’t even be released until the Fall of 2016, but Disney obviously thinks it will make a great film franchise.

The story revolves around two ordinary kids who discover a secret clubhouse for explorers. These kids set out on an adventure to reunite and perhaps rescue a group of famous adventure-seekers who call themselves the Filipendulous Five.

This sounds like it could be a fun kid adventure film, kind of like The Goonies. Here’s an official description from the book:

The story follows a precocious boy whose life is sent spiraling into adventure after he discovers a pig in a teeny hat and returns it...

‘American Ghost Story’ DVD Review
Stars: David Hayter, Maria del Mar, Casey Hudecki, Amanda Joy Lim, Adrienne Kress, Frank Moore, Samantha Wan, Shara Kim, Craig Porritt | Written and Directed by Joseph O’Brien

I never really understand the need to rename horror films once they have already been released under a different name, but I guess there are plenty of reasons that the audience just don’t need to know. American Ghost Story, formally known as Devil’s Mile (the title this film screened under at last years GrimmFest) is a film that managed to go through this process for its release in the UK, but luckily the film outshines the confusion.

Described as a Lovecraftian supernatural horror American Ghost Story sees a trio of kidnappers take a detour while on the road to delivering their hostages to a mysterious and powerful employer. When one of the victims are accidentally killed the kidnappers and the...

Grimmfest 2014: ‘Devil’s Mile’ Review
Stars: David Hayter, Maria del Mar, Casey Hudecki, Amanda Joy Lim, Adrienne Kress, Frank Moore, Samantha Wan, Shara Kim, Craig Porritt | Written and Directed by Joseph O’Brien

A gang of psychotic convicts take a dangerous and ill-advised detour after brutally kidnapping two young girls. As the captors speed away, events quickly turn out to be much more dangerous and gruesome than they had planned for. While driving down a long and dark stretch of deserted highway, the car becomes surrounded by mysterious sinister spirits, forcing the captors and young girls to work together in hopes of surviving the deadly evil force.

Well done to Devil’s Mile for being the first of the last few horror films I have reviewed to actually make me shout out in fear. I’m sure it was some kind of a battle cry, drawn from some baser human instinct to fight the scary...
