Marc Hampson is a feature film Director known for The Man in the Trunk (2019), The Man in the Trunk (2019), and Before the Lights Come Up (2013). He has been married to Lacey Hampson since 12 April 2003. They have two children.
In 1988 Hampson's family moved to Moreno Valley, CA to plant a small community church where at the age of 6 he began a long career of working behind the scenes on his first "crew" - showing up early, leaving last, running sound, lighting, lite construction, improvising solutions, performing, on and on up through college.
Hampson's Father was a minister and Mother was a musical theater Director; both of whom supported his love of the arts and encouraged him to explore his creative interests. By the time he was 18 he had already been illustrating comic pages for independent comics on commission and sitting in as a paid musician in local show pits.
The love affair with filmmaking began while watching the BTS of a Braveheart DVD and subsequent attendance of an accelerated course at NYFA, Universal City with future collaborator and cinematographer, Paul Olson. Hampson was hooked, but wasn't sure what to do next. He knew a whole lot more about Disney than Hollywood and so figured he could get into the industry as an animator.
After attending some college in Long Beach, CA and receiving a degree in Animation and Multimedia, Hampson went to work as a character animator and Storyboard artist in Culver City, however focused heavily on his own independent work with every moment of spare time with movies still on his mind.
In 2008, he and three long-time friends; DP Paul Olson, sound man Ronnie Ursenbach, and producer Aaron Fairley decided to buy a camera and just make one. Over the following decade Hampson Directed Independent features, short films, web series, and a number of commercials; Won 17 Festival Awards, including Best Feature, Best Series, Critic's Choice, Best Storytelling, Audience Awards, and Best Director all under the production banner Brotherhood Pictures.
In 2016 Hampson joined the Directors Guild of America.
In 2022 Hampson is prepping his first co-production under a new production banner to be announced later this year.
While primarily focused on Directing feature films Marc works has contributed on various projects as a Producer, an editor, Post Production Supervisor, VFX Artist, Composer, Art Director, and more.
