Keeper: Osgood Perkins Is Back (Again) With Eerie New Horror – Watch The Cryptic Teaser
Image
Osgood Perkins has been hard at work. Last year he brought us what could arguably be Nicolas Cage’s freakiest performance yet in Longlegs, and earlier this year he delivered the harpoon-shooting, side-splitting (literally) horror-comedy The Monkey. Now, the director looks to be pivoting back to darker horror territory, as the trailer for his latest flick, Keeper, has just hit the web — and you can watch it below:

That’s one cryptic teaser, seemingly more in line with the weird and flat-out incredible marketing campaign for Perkins' first Neon horror joint, Longlegs. The teaser gives us a mix of ominous figures reacting directly to the camera — one of the more prominent being Christin Park, who appears in multiple shots, reacting to the camera as if it’s a person. Anyone else getting flashbacks to Elijah Wood’s Pov horror Maniac?

Plot details for this one are sparse. So far, all...

Teaser Trailer For Osgood Perkins’ Latest Film ‘Keeper’ Declares You Aren’t Right For This Place
Image
Hot off the heels of Longlegs and The Monkey, Osgood Perkins has another nightmare on the horizon. Described as “a dark trip”, Perkins’ latest film Keeper is already promising to be a delicious piece of horror, if the new teaser trailer is to be believed.

In a synopsis shared by Deadline, the new film follows a couple as they escape for a romantic anniversary weekend at a secluded cabin. When Malcolm suddenly returns to the city, Liz finds herself isolated and in the presence of an unspeakable evil that unveils the cabin’s horrifying secrets.

Watch the new creepy teaser trailer below:

Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) and Rossif Sutherland (Possessor) star in the film with Birkett Turton, Erin Boyes, Tess Degenstein, Claire Friesen, and Christin Park.

Keeper comes to theaters on November 14, 2025, from Neon.

Keeper | The third in Osgood Perkins’ wave of horror films is out in November
Image
Mere months after Longlegs and The Monkey, writer-director Osgood Perkins is back with the first teaser for his latest horror, Keeper.

Although he found critical success with his earlier films, including The Blackcoat’s Daughter and Gretel & Hansel, it was 2024’s Longlegs that brought writer-director Osgood Perkins to wider attention and box office success. Although no doubt bolstered by its studio’s ingenious marketing campaign, the film itself – a twisted serial killer thriller – was as itself strikingly well made. Starring Maika Monroe on the trail of a murderer with supernatural powers, and Nicolas Cage in an unforgettably spooky supporting part, it was one of last year’s most memorable genre films.

Incredibly, Longlegs was only one of three movies that Perkins got going in the space of just over a year. Just before Longlegs went into production, he’d written The Monkey, based on the short story by Stephen King,...

Osgood Perkins’ Keeper teaser trailer takes audiences on a dark trip as curiosity turns to disdain
Image
Everyone is familiar with the fairytale scenario of falling in love with someone from across a crowded room. It’s in the eyes, they say. You feel that spark. It pulls you into each other’s orbit, with the rest of the story waiting to be written by fate. However, butterflies can only survive inside a stomach for so long; after some time, they’ll die, along with that initial feeling of wonder. In Osgood Perkins‘ Keeper teaser trailer, love blossoms and withers as time tarnishes what began as something beautiful.

Keeper falls under Osgood Perkins and Chris Ferguson’s new production studio, Phobos. Previously, Neon hosted a looping teaser video for Keeper on the studio’s YouTube channel. The video featured a young, unblinking individual repeatedly drawing on a notepad, the sound of their pen against paper playing like Asmr for sickos. Once in a while, the scene changes...

Maika Monroe Investigates The Occult In The Unsettling Trailer For New Horror Longlegs
Image
"You've got the teeth of the hydra upon you." As descriptions for YouTube videos go, the trailer for new Nicolas Cage/Maika Monroe horror film Longlegs is certainly in the running for most mysterious. Certainly looking to teaser more than spoil, the first footage from the film is online and you can hunt for clues below…

Indeed, the promotional material for Oz Perkins' new chiller has been refreshingly obscure so far, the posters (see below for a collected set) offering little in the way of clarity.

As for the synopsis? A little more to go on… Monroe plays "FBI Agent Lee Harker, who is assigned to an unsolved serial killer case that takes an unexpected turn, revealing evidence of the occult. Harker discovers a personal connection to the killer and must stop him before he strikes again." The cast also includes Alicia Witt, Blair Underwood and Erin Boyes.

It's A Wonderful Knife Interview: Joel McHale Talks More Dramatic Role & The Community Movie
Image
Warning: Spoilers lie ahead for It's a Wonderful Knife!

Joel McHale is excited to venture into more dramatic roles and enjoyed working on It's a Wonderful Knife. McHale appreciated the direction of Tyler MacIntyre and had a positive experience collaborating with him. McHale preferred ad-libbing more on the comedic side rather than during the dramatic moments of the film.

Joel McHale returns to the world of horror with It's a Wonderful Knife. Flipping the iconic tale of It's a Wonderful Knife on its head, the slasher comedy centers on a young woman who is transported to an alternate dimension after wishing she was never born as she struggles to process having stopped the killer that murdered her friend. In this new reality, she discovers that the killer was never stopped, and her town has fallen into dark chaos.

Jane Widdop leads the ensemble It's a Wonderful Knife cast alongside McHale,...

It’s a Wonderful Knife Review
Image
Plot: A year after stopping a masked slasher’s killing spree, a teen girl wishes she had never been born. As a result, she gets a glimpse into a world where she never existed – and the killer is still slashing their way through her hometown.

Review: Separately, Tyler MacIntyre and Michael Kennedy have delivered two of the most popular cult slasher films of recent years – Tragedy Girls and Freaky. Now they have teamed up to bring us It’s a Wonderful Knife, a film that follows the current trend of giving slasher movies a high concept twist. Happy Death Day was a time loop slasher, Totally Killer was a time travel slasher, Freaky was a body swap slasher. This time, we’re getting a movie that asks, “What if It’s a Wonderful Life had a masked killer in it?”

The first sixteen minutes of It’s a Wonderful Knife play like a regular,...

‘It’s a Wonderful Knife’ Review: Jane Widdop Battles a Killer Angel in This Mixed Bag of a Queer Christmas Slasher
Image
An inverted Christmas tree with as many missed opportunities as you’d find toppled ornaments, “It’s a Wonderful Knife” begins where most slashers end. Our final girl dispatches and unmasks the killer in just a cool 15 minutes before a title card announces the cutlery pun-turned-feature film in earnest. It’s then that director Tyler MacIntyre really gets to work, reimagining the black-and-white holiday classic from 1946 as a middling 2023 slasher satire doomed to fade from memory with the calendar year.

The quaint suburban town of Angel Falls was being terrorized by a demon angel, but not anymore thanks to Winnie Carruthers. Some clever repurposing of jumper cables saved Winnie’s brother Jimmy (Aiden Howard) from a near-stabbing by the Angel in an efficient opening act, but the jolt couldn’t bring back her friend Cara (Hana Huggins) who was slaughtered via winged dagger after her boyfriend (Oscar Chark) got a giant...

‘It’s a Wonderful Knife’ Review: A Slasher Spin on the Christmas Classic That Could Use Sharper Instincts
Image
Thank goodness Justin Long has stuck around. After breaking out in the frightfully gross road movie “Jeepers Creepers” and popping in aughts comedies like “Dodgeball” and “Accepted,” the 45-year-old has been on screen long enough to be getting genre-movie roles tailor-made for him — or at least uniquely suited to his strength — playing (not so) “nice guys” in all their dishonesty.

Having tested the waters as an East Coast professor on probation in “After Class” and an idiot Hollywood hotshot facing a #MeToo storm in last year’s “Barbarian,” Long follows up as the big bad in the horror comedy “It’s a Wonderful Knife,” released in theaters Nov. 10, before streaming on Shudder down the road. As the murderous mogul Henry Waters, who slices down anyone that stands in the way of his town’s redevelopment, Long steals the show once again. His have-at-it fun and eerie eyes provide a manic glee...

It's a Wonderful Knife: Plot, Cast, Release Date, and Everything Else We Know
Image
Everyone loves Christmas movies, right? They're a guaranteed way to get you into the feel-good holiday spirit. But what if that feel-good spirit just isn't for you? Some of the best Christmas movies take the exact opposite approach by telling terrifying horror tales. Black Christmas, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Krampus, and Violent Night are just some of the titles that come to mind. If there's one thing audiences love as much as a holiday horror flick, it's a good pun. That's where It's a Wonderful Knife checks both boxes.

The comedy-slasher comes from director Tyler MacIntyre and writer Michael Kennedy. Kennedy has experience in the comedic horror lane, as he penned the script for 2020's Freaky, a play on Freaky Friday. Kennedy also produces alongside Daniel Bekerman and Seth Caplan. One of the biggest names in horror, AMC Networks' Shudder, is attached to distribute the pic. What else do we need to know?...

It's A Wonderful Knife Review: A Warm And Cozy Christmas Slasher [Beyond Fest 2023]
Image
"It's A Wonderful Knife" is a warm and fuzzy Christmas slasher that reimagines "It's A Wonderful Life" in a head-on collision with "Scream." Writer Michael Kennedy and director Tyler MacIntyre don't want to eviscerate Yuletide feelings like other Christmas horror movies, much in the spirit of George Bailey's uplifting seasonal journey. It's all bloody, decking the halls with gory delights, but there's also a wholesomeness at the story's core akin to self-affirming modern slashers like "Happy Death Day" or Kennedy's own "Freaky." Imagine a Hallmark holiday special that's hacked to bits by a psychotic killer, more along the lesson-teaching lines of "Krampus" than the repulsive(ly entertaining) violence in "Silent Night."

It's Christmastime in Angel Falls, and high schooler Winnie Carruthers (Jane Widdop) is hitting all the traditions. There's a tree lighting ceremony led by the town's egomaniacal developer, Henry Waters (Justin Long), and a boozy party for the local teens.

My streaming gem: why you should watch I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House
Ruth Wilson
The latest in our series of writers recommending lesser-known films available to stream is an ode to an unnerving chiller starring Ruth Wilson

There wasn’t a lot of Shirley Jackson in Haunting of Hill House, Netflix’s sensationally scary but very loose adaptation of the prolific American suspense writer’s most famous novel. Mike Flanagan, who wrote and directed the miniseries, drew clearer inspiration from a different master of the macabre – the King, instead of the queen, of bestselling horror fiction. For a closer approximation of Jackson’s uniquely unsettling voice, that gift she had for raising the hairs on the back of a reader’s neck, look instead to a more compact ghost story released by the same streaming service two years earlier. I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House isn’t officially based on any of Jackson’s more than 200 published tales. All the same,...
