Demon (2015)
[Exclusive] Delve Into the Development of ‘Gori: Cuddly Carnage’ With This Making-of Documentary
Demon (2015)
After all of the praise for Angry Demon Studio’s Gori: Cuddly Carnage, you’re probably asking yourself just how the team managed to come up with such a fun (and bloody) concept. Wonder no more, as the developer has put together an exclusive making-of video, going into the development of the comedy horror action title, as well as Angry Demon Studio itself.

Divided up into three parts, the documentary kicks off with “Finding Gori”, in which Angry Demon Studio’s audio director William Sahl, animator Caroline Petri and designer/CEO John Kalderon cover the genesis of their hoverboarding skate n’ slash. “The idea started five years ago [in 2019]. We started everything in a thought of having a really cool mechanic that we wanted to build our entire game on,” explained John. That mechanic was the hoverboarding combat, which you see footage of in a 2019 prototype. Of course, the cat came later,...

As QuakeCon begins, Doom fans have plenty to look forward to. Titanfall 2 and 4 Other Games That Failed, But Were Undeniably Ahead of Their Time
Image
Titanfall 2 is a title that will go down in history as a title that offered tonnes of quality but wasn’t appreciated enough, but it wasn’t the only one that didn’t get its due credit.

Some other video games, too, are so ambitious and ahead of their time that it does them more harm than good. These five titles managed to challenge the status quo but couldn’t manage to succeed.

#5 Titanfall 2

Titanfall 2 is a title that came out in 2016, eight years before the time of writing. Respawn Entertainment created the perfect concoction of incredible gameplay with fast-paced movement and controllable mechs. However, the title was among the few that balanced single-player and multiplayer content quality.

“Not only great on its own but influenced a ton of games”: Not Skyrim This Time But Another Bethesda Game Considered the Goat Gaming Soundtrack by the Masses
Image
When it comes to iconic video game soundtracks, Bethesda’s vast catalog often dominates the conversation. From the epic orchestral scores of The Elder Scrolls series, including the ever-popular Skyrim, to the haunting ambiance of the Fallout games, the publisher has a knack for delivering unforgettable auditory experiences.

However, a recent post on the r/gaming subreddit has revealed that it’s not Skyrim that reigns supreme in the hearts of gamers, but rather the adrenaline-pumping, heavy metal-infused soundtrack of Doom.

The Soundtrack That Doom-inates Skyrim Skyrim has certainly stood the test of time. | Image Credit: Bethesda Game Studios

The original post, titled “What Ost is just unbeatable?”, sparked a lively discussion among the community. While the original poster put forth Final Fantasy X as their personal pick, the top-voted comment quickly shifted the focus to Doom (2016).

“Hate to break the hype but…”: Xbox Showcase Absolutely Dominating With Doom: The Dark Ages Still Can’t Make Fans Forget How Bethesda Allegedly Mistreated Mick Gordon

Xbox Showcase, which took place on 9th June 2024, dominated with the announcement of Doom: The Dark Ages. Fans of the series were enthralled at the sight of a new game coming their way.

Doom: The Dark Ages trailer | Bethesda software Yt

However, some fans deemed it necessary to pay homage to Mick Gordon, the composer of Doom: Eternal’s soundtrack. Mick Gordon was allegedly harassed by Studio executives in Bethesda in response to Gordon’s alleged failure to deliver the soundtrack for the game on time.

Gordon was allegedly burdened with the task of producing 2 finished level scores per month, without any details on level themes, boss fights, and developer-intended sound cues. It was a nightmare for Gordon, who also alleges to have not been paid on time. His requests for amending the schedule were rejected by the studio, abusively.

3Teeth Announce New Album EndEx, Unleash Single “Scorpion”: Stream
Image
Industrial act 3Teeth have announced a new album, EndEx, arriving September 22nd via Century Media. The band’s fourth LP promises to be “their most raucous yet, unveiling bold revelations of humanity’s technosocial disintegration behind a brutal soundtrack that sounds all the alarms,” according to a release.

Fans have already been treated to a few singles off the set, including “Paralyze” (featuring Ho99o9), “Merchant of the Void,” and “Slum Planet.”

Now, on top of the album news, 3Teeth have shared “Scorpion” as the LP’s latest single. The track features an epic combination of industrial instrumentals and haunting female vocal chants. An accompanying music video was directed by Vicente Cordero and 3Teeth frontman Alexis Mincolla.

“The scorpion symbolizes the challenge to confront and integrate those parts of ourselves that we repress, ignore, or fear,” Mincolla said in a statement. “It invites a descent into the depths of the personal and collective unconscious.

3Teeth Unleash New Song “Merchant of the Void” Ahead of Forthcoming Album: Stream
Image
3Teeth have returned with a new song, “Merchant of the Void,” ahead of their as-yet-unnamed fourth studio album arriving in the near future via Century Media.

The single is an industrial metal banger from the band that has toured with the likes of Tool and Rammstein. Crushing metallic instrumentation is melded with pulsing synths and deep electronic beats, recalling key influences such as Rammstein and Nine Inch Nails. According to frontman and creative leader Alexis Mincolla, the smoldering track serves as a commentary on the current “self-destructive path” of humanity and its obsession with materialism.

“Amidst the numbing pulse of hypermodernity, the insatiable appetite of data commodification devours our sense of meaning,” commented Mincolla in a press announcement for the song. “The undead march of materialism eventually renders the human subject an automaton, desperately grasping for the ephemeral junk 2.0 to fill the abyss of existential emptiness. The self devolves into a mere echo,...

‘Doom’ — Gleeful Havoc
Doom

Developed by id Software

Published by Bethesda Softworks

Available on PC (Windows, via Steam—reviewed), PS4, Xbox One

Doom is back.

I could beat around the bush, but what would be the point? id Software’s 1993 classic set the stage for decades of subsequent first-person shooters, and while the franchise took a sharp left turn from raw action into more methodical action-horror with 2004’s Doom 3—before languishing in developmental turmoil for 12 years with a questionable-looking Doom 4—Doom’s 2016 return is unequivocally triumphant. The team at id has managed to capture the carnal delight of the first two games while modernizing the overall package, and it’s an impressive feat even compared to the stellar revamp of Wolfenstein from Machine Games.

Doom sets the right tone within 30 seconds of starting a new game. 2 or 3 lines of dialogue and a few seconds of introductory cutscene are all that precedes a gun...
