Most of you have probably read or at least heard about the Shannara trilogy, written by Terry Brooks. The first book, The Sword of Shannara, was published back in 1977, and the first episode of the upcoming The Shannara Chronicles TV series is going to air in January of next year.
Produced by MTV, the TV series stars Ivana Baquero, Manu Bennett, Austin Butler, John Rhys-Davies, Emelia Burns, and Poppy Drayton.
We haven’t seen much about the Shannara adaptation ever since the release of the Nycc official trailer in October, but now we have two new videos. Despite the fact they are really short, there are one or two very intriguing scenes which are worth watching. But there are also words worth hearing:
"The events leading us to this moment have been unfurling for centuries. We share a destiny, a greater purpose and the sooner you accept that, the better.

Terra Nova Canceled. Fox Network has canceled the freshman sci-fi TV show series after its thirteen episode first season. I am not surprised by this at all. I lost interest after the series after the three episode after I realized the main characters were destined to get out of every jam they got into.
In addition the series plot holes were ridiculous. From the first episode: Dr. Elisabeth Shannon (Shelley Conn) sneaks into a prison a metal hand laser. No one checked her? She was able to get that through metal detectors? Even if her husband Jim Shannon (Jason O’Mara) cut his way out of his cell, then what? He is still in prison. The cells were idiotic looking and they just happened to let people freely pass things to one another. That was convenient.
One more thing on the laser front: if small, portable lasers are out in the public,...

It’s been well known to those of us following the buildup to the network premiere of Terra Nova that the cast roster wasn’t complete as we knew it, and Fox proved that this week by announcing the addition of some new cast members: Simone Kessell, Ashley Zukerman, and Emilia Burns. All three newbies are Australian, by the way. Please see our updated cast bios section for more information on these actors and join the Terra Nova Forums to talk about them.
Simone Kessell is joining Terra Nova as Alicia Washington, who The Hollywood Reporter says is billed as being second-in-command to Stephen Lang’s Commander Taylor, which makes her de-facto next in line as far as colony authority. Kessell is no stranger to the small screen, having had previous parts on Fringe, CSI: Miami, Reaper and other shows. Her character is said to be a “major player” on Terra Nova,...

Emelia Burns is an Australian actress best known for her small screen roles homeland. Emelia was born in Brisbane, Australia in 1982; her mother is a native of the African nation of Ghana, and her father is from Scotland. Ms. Burns’ first theatrical appearance was in the 2007 movie The Condemned, where she played Yasantwa, a condemned prisoner destined to compete in the movie’s eponymous fictional human hunting web-based television show. Burns’ performance in The Condemned earned a great deal of critical acclaim and led to more opportunities in Australian film and television, notably her leading and recurring roles in H20: Just Add Water (a popular Australian teen show), Sea Patrol, and The Elephant Princess.
In the Us she will be recognized for her part as Mudawa in the witty and insightful series, The Starter Wife, starring Deborah Messing. She also appeared in the horror flick Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark.

A major player has been added to the new Fox dino-drama, Terra Nova, as New Zealander Simone Kessell joins the time-traveling refugees as Alicia Washington.
The pilot had to be reshot, according to the latest from Deadline, with Kessell in the role of Washington, the Terra Nova colony’s second-in-command.
It takes the right type of person to stand out against Steven Lang, who plays compound commander Frank Taylor, but Kessell, with appearances on Fringe, Reaper, Underbelly, and CSI: Miami, is no stranger to the small screen so she should be able to hold her own.
Kessell isn’t the only new member of the Terra Nova team either, with Ashley Zukerman and Emelia Burns also joining the cast.
Terra Nova won’t be showing up until Fall but you can get a pretty good feel for what’s in store for you by checking out the promo art and the preview trailer,...

Fox’s Terra Nova has cast Ashley Zukerman (The Pacific) and Emelia Burns (The Elephant Princess) as recurring characters according to The Hollywood Reporter. Zukerman plays Lucas, a major character that is “mysterious and enigmatic” and has a connection to Commander Nathaniel Taylor (Stephen Lang). You can expect to see him in four episodes of the show beginning halfway through the first season. I’m not sure what his connections to Taylor are but, more likely than not, they’re sinister in nature, although Lang came off as a good guy to me even if he is a bit rough around the edges. He could be someone from Taylor’s past who knows toe curling secrets about him.
As for Burns, she will be playing one of Taylor’s soldiers named Reilly. She doesn’t seem to be as important as Zukerman’s character.

Ashley Zukerman and Emelia Burns, both Australian actors, will appear in recurring roles on Terra Nova. Both actors will play roles connected to Stephen Lang‘s character, Cmdr. Taylor.
Burns will play a soldier named Reily under Taylor’s command, while Zukerman will play Lucas a mysterious character who is also connected to Taylor. We know that Commander Taylor has a wife who died, and an estranged son. Could Lucas be that son?
Asley Zukerman is perhaps best known for his role in Rush as Constable Sandreli. In 2010 he appeared in the HBO’s mini-series The Pacific which of course was co-produced by Steven Spielberg. Emelia Burns appeared in The Condemned in 2007 as a convict on death row.
Terra Nova is shot on location in Australia and premieres September 26th at 8pm on Fox.

The latest graphical art to come out for Troy Nixey's Don't Be Afraid of the Dark is from the United Kingdom. United Kingdom horror fans can watch this remake in theatres August 12th and this poster shows you some of the terrorizing elements that you can look forward to. Creepy hands descend down a staircase in search of an innocent girl. Sally Hirst (Bailee Madison) holds a Polaroid camera and one begins to wonder if this film will be set in the '80s (Den).
Of course, Nixey's film is an adaptation of the 1973 television version of the same name and fans of the gothic can tremble at what writer Guillermo del Toro has in store for supernatural fans. Toro is one of the best creature effects specialists in the film business; so, expect some truly unique and scary creations in this upcoming release.

January 21, 2011. Make sure you write this date somewhere, especially if you’re a fan of some good horror-stories.
Why? Well, because that’s exactly the release date of the 1973 TV movie remake Don’t be afraid of the Dark, project directed by newcomer Troy Nixey, and produced by well-known name Guillermo del Toro.
Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark will center on a young girl, sent to live with her father and his new girlfriend, who discovers sinister creatures that live underneath the stairs.
In case you’re not so familiar with the cast, Guy Pearce will star as above mentioned father, together with his new girlfriend, Katie Holmes, while “young girl” will be played by Bailee Madison.
Like we said, ABC’s 1973 cult classic will mark former comic book artist Troy Nixey’s directorial debut.
