- Dawn draws anime, and one drawing in particular caught the attention of Diddy. When asked what the character's name was she replied "Danity Kane". It was a female superhero she drew while Danity Kane was in the studio, and to Diddy this represented the girls of Making The Band 3. Diddy then decided it would be the name of the group.
- Due to Hurricane Katrina, Dawn and her family now reside in Baltimore, Maryland.
- Her mother owned a dancing school where Dawn spent much of her childhood developing her skills at choreography and singing.
- Went to De la Salle High school in New Orleans with Marquise Hill, an NFL defensive lineman who passed away in the summer of 2006, and Holland Diaz stunt double for Tobey McGuire in Spider-Man 3.
