The film, starring Laura Balzer, Valery Tscheplanowa and Till Wonka, will tackle gender equality in Germany in 1946. Oliver Kracht is currently readying his debut feature, Trümmermädchen. Set in Germany shortly after the end of World War II, the drama will deal with the still highly topical subject of gender equality. It is worth noting that the script, written by Kracht himself, scooped the Thomas Strittmatter Prize for Screenwriting earlier this year. The film will tell the story of a pregnant young woman, Charlotte. Rejected by her boyfriend, she decides to sign up for the “Fräuleinkurs”, a class rumoured to teach young women how to win a man and keep him. Yet the teacher, an actress named Gloria Deve, seems to have little interest in helping the young women to improve their flirting techniques or any other skills that, in her opinion, were rendered useless by the war.
