The panda cub born at The Smithsonian National Zoo has officially turned 100 days old, which is the traditional period of time that one waits before naming a baby panda. In a less traditional twist, the National Zoo let the Internet vote on the name. To avoid the panda being named iLUVuJUSTINBIEBER34 or LiTtLe MoNsTeR, the National Zoo, in cooperation with officials from China, presented the following names: Bao Bao, Ling Hua, Long Yun, Mulan and Zhen Bao. Pandas these days—they grow up so fast! Mei Xiang, a giant panda at the Smithsonian National Zoo, gave birth to a cub on Aug. 23 and, per Chinese tradition, the baby is to be named after 100 days.
