I’m not going to go into the technological mumbo-jumbo here. There’s a lot of that in BBC One’s latest thrill-ride, Nightsleeper, but trust me, the majority of that is not exactly important for you to understand. In this article, we’re going to go through the plot of the series before sharing our thoughts.
Spoilers Ahead
What Happens in the Show?
It kicks off at Glasgow station. The Heart of Britain Nightsleeper service is about to commence, like on any other night, but it gets delayed by a sudden mugging incident at the station. Two masked men snatch away a woman’s bag on the platform and climb onto the train. Fortunately, police officer Joe is on the scene, here to catch the same train. Joe chases down the muggers inside the train and snatch back the bag from them. The muggers get away, but it’s mostly a win for Joe,...

A train gets hack-jacked (I picked up the word from the show actually) in the opening minutes of BBC One’s six-episode-long Nightsleeper, causing all the drama and madness – which is supposed to enthrall the audience. As is what usually happens in a series like this, the ending of Nightsleeper is quite shocking, and some of you might find it confusing, and it’s my intention to clear all that up. We’re only focusing on the climax of the series in this article. In case you want to read a detailed recap and our thoughts on the series, please check here.

Who hack-jacked the Nightsleeper Train?
It’s always the one you’d least suspect isn’t it? My “whodunit” game is pretty strong usually, but I’ve gotta give it to this show here; cause I never thought it would be former Technical Director of the...

Audrina Patridge is recalling the terrifying moment she locked herself in her closet after being targeted by the infamous Bling Ring burglars.
During a recent appearance on the Broad Ideas with Rachel Bilson & Olivia Allen podcast, The Hills star and The O.C. alum realized they were both among the celebrities that were targeted by a group of five Los Angeles teenagers and 20-somethings, dubbed the “Bling Ring,” who went on a crime spree from 2008 to 2009.
“They took trash bags of stuff,” Patridge said. “They knew I was at an Oscars party, and they knew that because I tweeted it, but then I had cameras and my cameras are the ones that caught their [Nick Prugo and Rachel Lee] faces and I posted it on my website, and said if anyone knows of these people let me know.”
The reality star added that she got “nothing” back that was stolen,...

From Erin Lee Carr, the HBO Original documentary The Ringleader: The Case of the Bling Ring digs into what motivated Rachel Lee and a group of her friends to break into celebrity homes, including those belonging to Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan, in Hollywood in 2008 and 2009 to steal from them. Being branded as the mastermind and ringleader, this teenager from Calabasas who was driven by a need to be accepted and with mental health issues and addictions that reshaped her reality, is finally sharing her story, over 10 years and one prison sentence later.

In “The Ringleader: The Case of Bling Ring,” director Erin Lee Carr revisits the infamous group of Calabasas, Calif. teenagers responsible for burglarizing the homes of celebrities including Orlando Bloom and Paris Hilton. But instead of merely rehashing the splashy story, Carr focuses on Rachel Lee, the alleged ringleader of the Bling Ring, who has never spoken to the media about her role in the 2008/2009 crime.
It took the director 12 months to convince Lee to sit in front of a camera and tell her side of the story. Initially, Lee wanted to do a podcast to maintain her anonymity, but Carr said no. The response was understandable given the director’s track record for making docus, not podcasts, about juicy true crimes. Carr’s credits include “Undercurrent: The Disappearance of Kim Wall,” “I Love You Now Die,” and “Mommy Dead and Dearest.”

Documentary director Erin Lee Carr has built a career on exposing the double standards women face in the world, whether that’s the conservatorship that trapped Britney Spears (“Britney vs. Spears”) or that of Michelle Carter. Her latest looks at the glittery world of the Bling Ring, a group of teens who, between 2008 and 2009, robbed a series of celebrity homes.
“The Ringleader: The Case of the Bling Ring” seeks to look beyond the Hollywood names, and the accompanying 2013 feature directed by Sofia Coppola, and interview the presumed ringleader behind the robberies, Rachel Lee. Lee’s life and culpability in the robberies was fueled heavily by sexism and racism. As Carr said to TheWrap, “We live in a climate where women face both sides and the sword.” If women stay silent, as Lee did during the Bling Ring events, they’re persecuted just as easily as if they opened up right away.
