16 years after its initial release, Jason Statham's action film Crank: High Voltage is seeing success on streaming.

Per FlixPatrol, the 2009 sequel to Statham's 2006 action thriller Crank is topping the charts worldwide. As of June 28, 2025, Crank: High Voltage is Starz's #1 most streamed movie worldwide, holding the number 1 spot in twelve different countries. The film ranks well above other films, including The Equalizer 3 at #2 and Mine at #3. This comes alongside a few of Statham's other films climbing Amazon's top charts.

The infamously fast-paced first film follows Statham as Chev Chelios, a hitman who is poisoned after a job gone wrong. His only chance of survival is to keep his adrenaline up so that he can live long enough to find the antidote. Fans of Always Sunny in Philadelphia may find that the film seems familiar. While the age-old adage "less is more" is sound filmmaking advice, the opposite applies to Jason Statham's relentless action movies. A case in point is Crank 2: High Voltage, a balls-to-the-wall action sequel that goes so far over the top that it dwarfs the absurdity of the original to leave a big, fat grin etched on the faces of hardcore Statham fanatics. Critics were also impressed, giving Crank 2 slightly better reviews than its predecessor.

Boasting a wild premise that forces Statham's Chev Chelios into a ticking-clock health scenario, Crank 2's high-voltage electricity derives from the extreme plot, flagrant fight scenes, hyper-violence, morbid humor, kinetic camerawork, Statham's breathless stunt work, and more. With the film recently celebrating its 15th anniversary, it's time to hook up the jumper cables and bring Crank 2: High Voltage back to life.

Brothers Brandon and Jason Trost have put everything into their passion project titled The Fp. It’s a bizarre tale about two rival gangs that battle it out not with weapons, but with dancing. The Fp takes the popular game Dance, Dance, Revolution to the next level, introducing a whole new wacky world, full of over-the-top characters and scenarios. I can see where the Trost Bros. were going; I just didn’t have as much fun watching it as they did making it.

Sometime in the near post apocalyptic future two rival gangs rule a small town. They battle it out over a dancing video game, which rewards the winner with the props and whatever other cool shit people like to throw around when they’ve beaten someone at something. Jtro (Jason Trost) loses a friend to the deadly game and vows to never return again, but as the days go by things get worse.

On June 19th, Image Entertainment invites you to join the stage with The Fp, an hilariously insane comedy about a dreaded turf war... with dance! Like the Wonderland that sucks in little virginal Alice into a mind-blowing odyssey of stunning events and funky characters, all of them dressed up with impeccable costuming, The Fp grabs hold of its lucky viewers and takes them through a bizarre world more magical (and delightfully over-the-top) than something we could ever try to conceive ourselves.

Chicago – “The Fp,” playing in midnight shows this weekend at Music Box and in various arthouse theaters around the country, is a hard movie to put your finger on. Is it just bad like “Birdemic” or “The Room” or is it something “trying” to be bad? Is it a spoof of bad movies or just a bad movie? Does it matter? Either way, “The Fp” works for its audience, a rowdy crowd of midnight movie fans willing to put up with over-the-top silliness, bad performances, and general lunacy. It’s essentially an extended short film that doesn’t even justify its short running time but audiences on its wavelength will eat it up.

One has to give the team behind “The Fp” major credit for sticking to their ridiculous vision from first frame to last. Their movie is totally goofy and I don’t mean that as insulting as it may sound.

We live in an era in which talented filmmakers sometimes trade in creativity and taking chances for remakes, reboots and 3-D gimmicks. We get it -- they're a giant cash cow. Leave it up to the up-and-comers to make unique and rare movies that won't be  seen by even a small portion of the people who saw "Clash of the Titans." At least we know those crazy ones still exist.

Right now those hungry men are Brandon and Jason Trost, the duo that has made the most bonkers independent movie of this year -- a movie about living the somewhat thug life called "The Fp."

Last week, the red-band trailer for The Fp went online, and today Drafthouse Films has released the green-band version.  Both trailers do a good job of setting up the movie's premise: With an 80s-style vibe, the plot pits two gangs against each other, and their differences are settled by playing "Beat Beat Revolution" (based off the real-world rhythm-dance game Dance Dance Revolution).  The red-band version is heavy on the swearing, but it also does a better job of showing off the fun dialogue and intentionally corny lines like "He wasn't expecting the unexpected!"  The Fp may seem like a commercial or a comedy sketch gone on too long, but I'm going to trust the positive word from the film's premiere at last year's SXSW Film Festival. "Hey L Dubba E, I challenge you to a beat off!" Today's indie trailer is a red band for a film called The Fp, directed by the Trost Brothers being distributed by Drafthouse Films. It's essentially The Warriors meets Dance Dance Revolution, the video game, in some crazy dark comedy mayhem. Director Jason Trost also stars as Jtro with Lee Valmassy as L Dubba E, Art Hsu, Caitlyn Folley, Nick Principe and Brandon Barrera as Btro. This actually looks surprisingly good, like a great cult classic in the making. There's a lot of good humor in it. Though I do think this trailer shows pretty much everything up until the end, maybe too much. The two reactions I’ve heard to The Fp have either been in the territory of “it’s a lot of fun” or “it’s completely unwatchable.” Appropriate, then, that my reaction to the red band trailer, from IGN (via AICN), shifted between “this looks kind of entertaining” to “oh, you have got to be kidding me.” (Not in a positive sense.)

So while I could find merit in certain parts that are being sold here — the cinematography and gritty production design, primarily — something about the pitch and tone of everything else is just… grating. I’d love to be wrong here; something that can successfully create an over-the-top sensibility appeals to and entertains me on a very base level. But if it’s anything like this preview, The Fp will have already lost me.

First up, we bring you the official poster for The Fp courtesy of Movies.com. The movie premiered at last year’s South by Southwest to good reviews (including my own, wink) and Drafthouse Films, the distribution arm of movie chain Alamo Drafthouse, quickly picked it up. I was going to write an article about the news Matthew Vaughn is going to direct the sequel to X-Men: First Class, but quite frankly I don't care. If you’re looking for a good combination of humour, trash talk and video games then you’ll enjoy this film by Directors/Screenwriters Jason and Brandon Trost, based on their short film released in 2007.

Silly slang, ridiculous characters, like Art Hsu’s character, Kcdc, and a tale of revenge after Btro’s death (exhaustion from too much Beat Beat), ‘The Fp’ is definitely entertaining. It’s a parody on a martial arts or sports movie, featuring one of the most fun and popular video games of all time, Dance Dance Revolution.

One of the most interesting aspects of attending a festival, such as SXSW, is the gamble you’re taking with each film. Most of the time, you’re not entirely sure what you’re walking in to, which can be either a curse or a blessing. In the case of The Fp, I hadn’t seen a trailer or a still from the film. The only thing I’d heard about the film was endless praise from people I trust about how inventive and funny it was.

Frazier Park, mothafuckas! Long have I been lamenting the making-a-bad-movie-on-purpose subgenre as of late, because I think if filmmakers try and stick to the joke throughout, they can make a damn fun movie. And if ever there were an example of that, it's the Trost Bros. The Fp. This thing looks like it was shot for the lint-dusted pocket change sitting in a bedside jar and three handjobs to be delivered later. The concept is absolutely donkeyballs ludicrious: underground street gangs roam the countryside of rural California settling their disputes with showdowns on the Beat-Beat Revolution dance machine. The entire thing is steeped in a late eighties veneer with characters spouting an exaggerated hip-hop patois -- calling each other "nig" and "bitch" and requesting someone "check a look" at things. With a lily-white cast -- save for the remarkable lone Asian -- it's a fucking risk. And it pays off.

SXSW has introduced us to some cool films for the upcoming year and the SXFantastic midnight series gave us a few surprises as well, one being Brandon Trost and Jason Trost's The Fp which is a weird combo of Dance, Dance Revolution meets Class of Nukem High.  Actor Nick Principe (Chromeskull:Laid to Rest 2) shared this trailer on his Facebook page over the weekend and you just have to watch it. This movie is so over the top it'll be a smash for sure among the gamers and even bringing in a new audience.

You wanna be in on the ground floor of something absurd and awesome? Strap on your ski boots and hit some Beat Beat!

Opinions were all over the map at SXSW concerning its SXFantastic midnight film The Fp but I will personally challenge anyone to a 187 cage match who says this movie is anything other than a great time.

Set in some alternate universe, The Fp takes sports films, 1980s action pictures and the patois of urban youth and puts it all in an acid wash blender.  The result:  a Warriors-esque gang film about the underground Dance Dance Revolution circuit, where the fate of your own home turf down to the very park ducks is determined.

No cliche is left behind in The Fp, but unlike pieces of dreck like Meet the Spartans this is not a "reference" movie.  It is (and this is what makes it so fantastic) deadly,...

Who’S It For? The Trost brothers described the perfect audience as people who want to enjoy making fun of a Bruckheimer film. I would agree, as long as you lower your expectations.

Welcome to The Fp. Also known as Frazier Park. Two rival gangs have been fighting for supremacy for years. Everything attempts to be over the top with the flick, including the way they fight … Beat-Beat Revelation. They play it straight and that’s the joke. Unlike films such as Shooter, where the joke is clearly on them.

Now that the SXSW Film Festival is coming to a close, we get a moment to take a breather, recovering and revisiting the memories of the films and parties that have instilled in our heads a seemingly permanent soreness. We also have to live with the inevitable regret over the buzzing films we may have missed.

Well, we’ve found a solution for one of these problems. At the Ritz all next week, we’re bringing back four of the SXFantastic films that have been some of the highlights of this year’s SXSW! Last night's screening of SXFantastic selection "The Fp" at the Alamo Ritz began -- as apparently all screenings of "The Fp" begin -- with a ceremonial Four Loko chug race: Crew members, including the brotherly directing team of Brandon and Jason Trost, versus audience members. It was a goofy mood-setter, and maybe a bit of a warning: to fully appreciate their movie you might need to be drunk and high.

"The Fp" stands for Frazier Park, the area of California where the Brothers Trost hail from and which, if "The Fp" is to believed, is perhaps the white trashiest place on earth. In the Trosts' demented vision the Fp is a post-apocalyptic wasteland where rival gangs from "The 245" and "The 248" battle for control of the area's alcohol by playing Dance Dance Revolution. Whoever controls the booze controls the hobos, and whoever controls the hobos can keep the ducks in the park fed.

A clever spoof on the action films of the 1980′s, The Fp is one of the more unique films I have seen in recent memory. Taking place some time in the future when turf wars are decided by one’s prowess at Beat Beat Revelation, here are 83 minutes that will make any normal moviegoer sit back and think “what the hell am I watching?!?” Said viewer will then be hard-pressed to forget what he’s watched.

The Fp follows Jtro (Jason Trost), who watches his brother Btro die during a particularly grueling Bbr session with rival gang leader L Dubba E El (Lee Valmassy). Distressed over these events, Jtro flees into the outskirts of his home of Frazier Park (aka The Fp) to go work as a log-cutter. But while Jtro has quit the life, the life hasn’t quit him as his fellow gang member Kcdc (Art Hsu) brings him back into the fold.

SXSW Film Festival Announces Midnight Features & Shorts

Austin, TX – Today the SXSW Film Festival revealed their Midnight Features & Shorts program.

The Midnighters section of SXSW is known for premiering the work future stars of the horror genre. Filmmakers Eli Roth, and Ti West, are a few notable directors who have had their films screened during the Midnight Features.

”Our midnight programs are the bloody, beating heart of SXSW,” said SXSW Film Conference & Festival Producer Janet Pierson. “Since the beginning, midnight films have been an essential ingredient to what makes SXSW so exciting and fun, and this year’s selections are no exception.”

Out of over 3000 short films submitted, only 150 were chosen, and will screen as part of twelve overall shorts programs.

The South By Southwest (SXSW) Festival has really improved their line-up over the years, and this year they have once again outdone themselves. The lineup for the Midnight features and shorts have been announced, and there are some exciting premieres featured. The film program at South By Southwest (SXSW) has really come into its own over the past few years -- SXSW is becoming an impressive little film fest in addition to being a massive music party. The lineups for Midnight features and shorts have been announced, and there are some good premieres in there. Attack the Block, from Joe Cornish, will have a world premiere, while Hobo With a Shotgun and James Wan's Insidious will show up as well. And the films that most of us haven't heard of sound pretty great, too. If I was at the fest I'd have my ass planted in a seat for every one of these at midnight. Hollywoodnews.com: Jason Eisener’s bum-sploitation film “Hobo With a Shotgun,” which stars Rutger Hauer as a hobo wielding a shotgun, is one of many intriguing features announced as part of SXSW’s “Midnighters” schedule. This year’s Festival runs March 11-19 in Austin, Texas.

”Our midnight programs are the bloody, beating heart of SXSW,” said SXSW Film Conference & Festival Producer Janet Pierson. “Since the beginning, midnight films have been an essential ingredient to what makes SXSW so exciting and fun, and this year’s selections are no exception.”

Pierson isn’t exaggerating. In addition to “Hobo,” SXSW has programmed 150 short films, five “Midnighters” and five films screening as part of the “SXFantastic” program.
