Marvel reassures fans that they won't be retconning Ms. Marvel's powers in the comic series. The series explores Kamala Khan's identity as a mutant and her journey into the mutant community. Ms. Marvel's powers don't define her, and she will always be Ms. Marvel regardless of any changes in her powers.
Warning: Spoilers for Ms. Marvel: The New Mutant #4!Fans of Kamala Khan can rest assured that, for now at least, Marvel won't be tampering with who Ms. Marvel is. When the revelation first emerged that Earth-616's Ms. Marvel would return from the dead with a new mutant gene—similar to how her MCU character onscreen is a mutant rather than an Inhuman—the bulk of die-hard fans reacted with outrage. There was a concern that Marvel would drastically retcon Ms. Marvel's character to fit her MCU characterization.

Warning: The following contains Spoilers for Dark Web: X-Men #1.There is one member of the X-Men who would be ideally suited to defeating the Avengers' robotic enemy Ultron. Despite this, the X-Man in question has never been approached about Avengers membership or asked to help whenever Ultron returned to threaten the world. This is likely due to how ludicrously one-sided and short such a fight would be dramatically, but there is no logical reason in-universe why this X-Man shouldn't have been brought in to battle Ultron long ago.
