Judd Apatow is looking back on how Steve Carell‘s hilarious turn in Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy helped launch one of his biggest movies.
During an appearance on The Lamorning After Podcast, the comedy filmmaker revealed that Steve’s scene-stealing work as Brick Tamland directly inspired The 40-Year-Old Virgin.
“Carell was so funny that it was blowing everyone’s mind,” he said.
“It was this thing where everyone was killing it, but people were especially shocked at how riotous Steve was being all day with these crazy improvs. And it was just something magical happening with Carell doing Brick.”
Keep reading to find out more…
At the time, Judd was known for spotting and elevating rising talent, like Jason Segel in Knocked Up before Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and Seth Rogen in The 40-Year-Old Virgin.
Judd approached Steve to see if he had any ideas for a lead role.

Nick’s return to The Bold and the Beautiful thrilled fans. They looked forward to the beloved sailor reuniting with his lost love, Brooke. After months of anticipation, he was left brokenhearted. Brick’s reconciliation left fans feeling empty inside. Did the show waste Jack Wagner’s return?
Breaking Up Bridge, Once and For All
B&b mostly focused on Brooke’s (Katherine Kelly Lang) burning love for Ridge (Thorsten Kaye). She was determined to make him see that they were “destiny.” But he moved on with Taylor (Rebecca Budig). The two were engaged to be married for a third time.
Read This: Washed-up, heartbroken, and revengeful—What’s next for Nick?
However, that might change. Ridge chased Brooke around Italy. He didn’t like seeing her go on a romantic boat trip with Nick (Jack Wagner), who wanted to win her back. He hoped that Brooke would finally see her “destiny” differently.

(Gh) spoilers imply in the land of soaps, the idea that Greta (Carolyne Maraghi), the courier, being a clone of the fake nurse assassin who attacked Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) after his surgery in Los Angeles, is always a possibility. After all, Greta and said nurse look a lot alike, so let’s talk about it!
A Target On Sonny Corinthos’s Back
General Hospital spoilers remind fans that back when the incident occurred, many believed Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) was behind Sonny’s attack in LA, but nothing was ever confirmed.
After Brick (Stephen A. Smith) saved Sonny by shooting the nurse assassin, Jack Brennan (Chris M.cKenna) swung by to clean up the mess.
At that time, Brennan identified the faux nurse as a well-known individual in the intelligence community. The “nurse” was paid in crypto via the dark web.

General Hospital spoilers indicate that Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna) could soon be on his way out of Port Charles.
Reports have been leaked that Brennan could soon be leaving the canvas, however writing out Carly Spencer’s (Laura Wright) new lover may need to happen quickly.
Brennan could be implicated in the unsolved mystery of who set off the incendiary device at Sonny Corinthos’s (Maurice Bernard) penthouse, causing a fire that injured Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson). Someone does not want Sonny to know the truth, and they could easily frame Brennan to take the fall.
Anna Devane Starts To Uncover More Evidence That The Fire Was Wsb-Related
It has already been discovered that the incendiary device was used by Solinski (Jeff Wolfe), who has Wsb ties, and that the assassin that tried to kill Sonny in Los Angeles also was hired by someone with Wsb ties. Thus, it...

It looks like this is a pretty good year for German movies on Netflix. A couple of weeks ago, the world was taken by storm when it was announced that Exterritorial became one of the most popular movies on the platform after just three months. Now, a new thriller hailing from the same country is taking over the top 10. This week, Netflix announced that Brick debuted as the #1 most-watched non-English film globally, which might point to another hit in the making.
Brickhas a pretty unique concept. It centers around a couple who are not at the best moment in their relationship. However, they are forced to put that aside when they simply wake up one night and discover that there is a massive brick wall outside their door, which prevents them from going outside. Since the wall is pretty much indestructible, the couple is forced to team up with neighbors...

How Ironheart’s Deal With Mephisto Left Room For An Unexpected Team-Up (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Marvel’s Ironheart ended its run on July 1, 2025, with its last episode, The Past is the Past. The closing scenes dropped two major reveals, one emotional, one cosmic. Riri Williams (played by Dominique Thorne) went toe-to-toe with Mephisto, the devilish entity finally brought to life by Sacha Baron Cohen, and made a deal that could flip the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Bringing back her late friend Natalie (Lyric Ross) might seem like a bold but emotional choice, but every move has a price in the MCU. Riri’s decision to strike a deal with Mephisto comes with unseen strings. Now, a wave of otherworldly consequences may be heading her way. And oddly enough, her former foe Parker Robbins (Anthony Ramos) could be the one to save her skin.
First look at Sacha Baron Cohen as Mephisto in #Ironheart.

The film, directed by Philip Koch and currently positioned at 1 (per Flixpatrol), follows a couple and their neighbors trying to survive after their building is trapped behind a giant brick wall.

Netflix has been constantly releasing original films that usually become big streaming hits. That often happens even if the audiences and critics don't enjoy the project.
Such is the case for one of the most recent releases: Brick. Not to be confused with the 2005 neo-noir mystery thriller of the same name, with Knives Out's Rian Johnson in his directorial debut, the new Netflix film is a sci-fi German movie that has the residents of a building unexpectedly caught in their homes by a surprising brick wall. Although Brick received negative reviews, it didn't take long for it to become a worldwide hit, FlixPatrol reports.

Netflix’s latest hit, The Old Guard 2, is proving that critics don’t always matter when it comes to streaming success. The superhero sequel, starring Charlize Theron and Uma Thurman, was the most-watched movie on Netflix in the U.S. during the week of June 30 to July 6. It also topped the charts in 74 other countries.
This is despite the film having a low critics’ score of just 22% and an audience score of 36% on Rotten Tomatoes, showing that viewers aren’t always swayed by negative reviews.
Netflix hasn’t released the official Top 10 movies list for the week of July 7–14, but FlixPatrol, an independent streaming ratings tracker, reports that the German-language sci-fi mystery-thriller Brick was the most popular Netflix movie worldwide as of July 13.
In the U.S., Brick was third on the Top 10 list, just behind the new Tyler Perry release Madea’s Destination Wedding and the animated KPop Demon Hunters,...

Netflix’s Brick (2025), directed by Philip Koch and starring Matthias Schweighöfer, Ruby O. Fee, and Frederick Lau, is a claustrophobic escape-room-styled thriller. The story revolves around a distant couple, Tim and Liv, who wake up to find their entire building mysteriously sealed in by impenetrable black walls overnight. As they dig deeper (both literally and metaphorically), they uncover a government glitch, a deranged conspiracy theorist, and a series of fatal consequences. While the film doesn’t break new ground in terms of genre innovation, it delivers a tense, compact experience that’s perfect for viewers who enjoy contained thrillers with high-stakes drama and a mystery at the core.
If Brick piqued your interest, you’re likely craving more stories of people trapped in surreal, high-concept scenarios — stories that explore survival, systems of control, psychological strain, and sci-fi paranoia. Below are 7 movies like Brick on Netflix and beyond, each echoing its...

The new Netflix mystery thriller has debuted with strong viewership. The streaming service's library is so robust that not every Netflix original movie or TV show is automatically destined to become a hit. However, some perform at the level of major blockbusters.
In fact, all of the Top 5 most-watched Netflix movies of all time have been viewed more than 150 million times apiece. That roster includes Bird Box, The Adam Project, Don't Look Up, and Carry-On, with the star-studded action-comedy Red Notice topping the chart with a whopping 230.9 million viewers.

In the 11th episode of Poker Face, Alex arrived with a job opportunity that involved shucking oysters at a wedding, and she invited Charlie to join her so that she could make some easy money. Eventually, it was revealed that this wasn’t an ordinary wedding; it was the wedding of Hasp’s one and only son: Kirby. The FBI, headed by Luca, was present at the event because Beatrix wanted to virtually watch her son get married and also ensure that nobody killed the son of the gangster who was about to testify against the entire East Coast mob. Well, they failed, because the Iguana, disguised as Todd, murdered Kirby and framed Alex for it. Charlie knew that as soon as the news of that incident hit Hasp’s ears, she’d send everyone to kill Alex. So, she had to get Alex to Hasp—and get her to tell the truth,...

But soon they realized that they were actually stuck in a life-and-death situation, and they needed to find a way out as quickly as possible. So let’s find out what exactly happened to them and if they were able to make it out of that situation.

I’m a sucker for single-location movies. I don’t care what the genre is; if it’s strictly limited to one location, I’m in. It could be a house, a train, a plane, a car, a spaceship, a bank, or a motel—I am locked in. Sidney Lumet’s 12 Angry Men is such a sweltering-hot drama that it keeps getting better with each rewatch. Krampus is a Christmas classic. Everybody Says I’m Fine is an underrated gem. And the list just goes on. However, I think the overall attitude towards this subgenre changed after the Covid-19 pandemic. Suddenly, what once seemed like a novel storytelling tool became our everyday reality. On top of that, with safety measures in place, shooting in one location became a very cost-effective method of making movies (or even entire shows). Hence, what once seemed like a cool gimmick started feeling lazy,...

General Hospital spoilers and rumors tease you can’t count Selina Wu (Lydia Look) out just yet-even though Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) set her up and forced her out of town.
No matter how far Ms. Wu is from Port Charles right now, she’s still only a phone call away from Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard)!

Sonny and Selina have had a history of cooperation, ever since before the Five Families dwindled down to two-hers and his!
It was Selina who warned Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) about the car bomb at his and Carly Spencer’s (Laura Wright) would-be wedding right before Sonny came home from Nixon Falls.
So the other mobsters who wanted to kill Jason and Carly, who were representing Sonny’s mob family at the time, were blown up-the bomb was moved to their car!

If you were as big a fan of Linwood Boomer's "Malcolm in the Middle" — the family sitcom that was recently renewed for a revival — as I was when I was growing up, you certainly felt the gap the show left behind when it ended in 2006. There were a lot of great sitcoms in the mid and late aughts, but very few managed to capture that family-centred narrative and silly vibe that "Malcolm" almost singularly represented. For me, the one that came closest was Eileen Heisler and DeAnn Heline's "The Middle." The series stars the wonderful "Everybody Loves Raymond's" Patricia Heaton, "Scrubs'" Neil Flynn, and three child/teen actors who were just getting their feet wet in the huge pond of American television.
"The Middle," which ran on ABC from 2009 to 2018 for 9 seasons, followed the everyday lives of the Hecks, a barely middle-class family in the fictional town of Orson,...

The 2009 ABC sitcom "The Middle" was never a major ratings hit, but it was never a ratings bust either. It might've always been under the shadow of "Modern Family," but it still sailed smoothly to nine full seasons, something few other shows can brag about. In fact, "The Middle" had a strong enough fan base that ABC nearly gave it a spinoff. There were plenty of spinoff options for the writers, too: maybe they could've followed the awkward Brick (Atticus Shaffer) as he made his way through college, or they could've followed Frankie (Patricia Heaton) and Mike (Neil Flynn) as they coped with being empty nesters.
Instead, Sue (Eden Sher) was chosen as the main character going forward. The spinoff was titled "Sue Sue in the City," and it would follow twentysomething Sue getting into all sorts of awkward hijinks in Chicago. "It took place, like, three years in the future,...

Nick made his big return to The Bold and the Beautiful. His appearance took Brooke by surprise. We weren’t surprised, as this was months in the making. B&b fans have been buzzing about his return, as this was much needed for Brooke, who’s still hung up on Ridge. As excited as we are for his return, we also have many questions.
How Long Will He Stay?
Nick (Jack Wagner) was happy to return to Los Angeles. At first, it was assumed that Wagner’s appearance would be brief. However, Brick’s storyline will continue into July. Wagner was spotted filming with the B&b cast and crew in Italy on social media. This means that Nick and Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) could fall back in love while they’re there.
Read Next: Find out about Jack’s bold plan to win Brooke back.
Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) won’t be happy about this.

On Monday, June 16, 2025, key moments on The Bold and the Beautiful announced Nick’s return to Los Angeles. He proved that he’s leading man material. Nick made it known that his heart is still burning for Brooke. Meanwhile, haunts are lurking elsewhere in Los Angeles. You need to check out today’s episode.
Nick Returns
Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) still begged Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) to come back home to her. But he wouldn’t budge. Instead, he returned home to Taylor (Rebecca Budig). Ridge got tired of Brooke’s begging. She hoped he would return to see her in her unmentionables.
Once again, Brooke stripped down to try on the lingerie that Ridge designed. But it wasn’t her destiny who walked in; it was someone else. Nick (Jack Wagner) got an eyeful upon his return. He was delighted to see Brooke standing there, in her lacy lingerie. Brooke...

“Theracide,” the first of this week’s two episodes of Adults to air* on FX, explores typically challenging territory for the show’s questionably adult characters. Samir (Malik Elassal) and Paul Baker (Jack Innanen) get too attached to a group of high schoolers who’ve convinced gig worker Samir to deliver them beer. Billie (Lucy Freyer) gets way too nervous meeting her older boyfriend’s adult friends and tries to overcompensate with bawdy jokes.
Anton (Owen Thiele) and Issa (Amita Rao) have the most grown-up problem, which they attempt to resolve by the most childish means: George, their mutual therapist, has suddenly died, and to determine whether their nonsense drove him to suicide, Issa hires a medium. Anton is right to doubt that Taryn is on the level, not only because she’s claiming she can communicate with the dead but because she’s doing so with a Ouija board...

Stephen A. Smith on White House Ambitions, His Budding Acting Career and That $100 Million ESPN Deal
For fans of Stephen A. Smith’s bombastic style, the ESPN superstar’s ongoing expansion into every facet of media — he’s next moving into satellite radio with two shows on SiriusXM — is only more of a good thing. Then there are the detractors. “I don’t respect him. I don’t respect his work. He doesn’t like me,” said Michelle Beadle, after news broke that her former ESPN colleague would be taking over her midday SiriusXM time slot. (Beadle and co-host Cody Decker were both fired in the programming shakeup.)
Smith, however, seems to thrive in hostile environments. In March, he signed a rumored $100 million deal, keeping him and his highly rated sports talk show First Take at ESPN for at least five more years. Smith has been getting more serious about wanting to be an actor. General Hospital fans already know him as Brick, the character he...

General Hospital spoilers and rumors tease the arrival of Dark Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson) is only the start of devastating doom for Drew Cain/Quartermaine (Cameron Mathison)!
If looks could kill, when Michael picked up Wiley Corinthos (Viron Weaver) at the Nurses’ Ball, the look he gave Drew would have taken him out right then and there!
Michael Has Returned With A Vengeance
It’s plain Michael has returned with a vengeance, and the look he gave Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen) was just as bad as the one he gave Drew!
But then he’d been watching them making out on camera at the Nurses’ Ball when Drew and Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) announced on the red carpet.
Watching that on a smartphone during a six-hour flight from Baden-Baden gave him plenty of time to stew in his juices, and by the time he got there he was boiling!

‘General Hospital’ (Gh) spoilers predict Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna) may decide to help Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) find out who is targeting Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Brennan Would Do Anything For Carly
As head of the Wsb, Brennan is in a unique position to uncover whoever set the bomb in Sonny’s penthouse that almost killed Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) and orchestrated a hit on Sonny after his heart surgery.
Since Carly is so close to Sonny, he may fear for her safety and propose to Sonny that he and the Wsb investigate the threat against him and uncover the person who is after him.
Besides, Sonny is important to Carly and his loved ones. Since Brennan would do anything for Carly, it’s not hard to imagine him offering his assistance.
Jack may suggest to Sonny that he wants to help bring this person to justice using his Wsb resources.

General Hospital Spoilers: Ava Jerome’s Blackmail Scheme
So, as we saw on Gh, Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) at first pushed back. She said she would not give in to Ava’s demands. And Alexis tried to tell Ava the police wouldn’t believe the circumstantial evidence pointing to Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi) cutting Ric’s brake lines.
But then Ava said she’d go straight to Molly Lansing-Davis (Kristen Vaganos), which would rip Alexis’s family apart. When she heard about all this, Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) said the best way to respond was to have Kristina committed.
She drew up papers to send her to a psychiatric facility like ShadyBrook on General Hospital.

General Hospital spoilers indicate that we just recently got a hint about Dr. Isaiah Gannon’s (Sawandi Wilson) family. Brick (Stephen A. Smith) recently commented to Isaiah while he was with Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) that he investigated Isaiah, and that he hopes that he is not involved with what his family does.
We still do not know exactly what Isaiah’s family deals in, it certainly can’t be anything good. One Life to Live fans are very familiar with the Gannon family, as they were featured on the show. Is Isaiah somehow connected to this family from Llanview?
There have been lots of nice nods of both One Life to Live and All My Children on General Hospital lately, so it would be a fun surprise if Isaiah is connected to this One Life to Live family.

Nevertheless, viewers are beginning to sense that the soap may be teasing the comeback of another familiar face: Morgan Corinthos (Bryan Craig).
There Have Been Many Mentions Of Morgan Lately
Morgan is the first biological child of Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Carly Spencer (Laura Wright).
Over the years, the character has been portrayed by several actors, with Bryan Craig being the most recent to take on the role after Morgan was sent to a private school. Tragically, Morgan met his end in a car bombing in 2016.
Despite this, Craig has continued to appear in various forms, such as a ghost or in dream sequences. Recently, Morgan was also referenced in an episode of the soap that aired last Thursday.

Over the years, the character has been portrayed by several actors, with Bryan Craig being the most recent to take on the role after Morgan was sent to a private school. Tragically, Morgan met his end in a car bombing in 2016.

General Hospital Spoilers report Brick (Stephan A. Smith) is back in town, and he’s got the dirt on the firebomb fiend who turned Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) penthouse into a fireball, leaving Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) with severe burns that have got the Corinthos clan reeling.
The suspect list is a rogue’s gallery — Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota), Isaiah Gannon (Sawandi Wilson), the late Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober), or even Wsb Chief Jack Brennan (Chris Mckenna).
The big question? With Sonny’s heart on the fritz and his empire wobbling, does the don have the guts to take down this shadow-lurking enemy?
General Hospital Spoilers — Sonny Goes Boom!
Brick’s intel is the kind of bombshell (pun intended) that could light a fire under Sonny — or snuff him out. That explosion wasn’t just a hit on his home; it was personal, scorching Michael and leaving Sonny’s world in ashes.

General Hospital spoilers and rumors present a mystery that needs to be solved, and the solution couldn’t come too quickly for Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard)! If Valentin Cassadine, (James Patrick Stuart), Jack Brennan, (Chris L. McKenna) or Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) didn’t plant the bomb that nearly killed Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell), who did?
Jack Wouldn’t Have Wanted Collateral Damage
Valentin confessed that he attempted to kill Sonny on Jack’s orders in the past, but the bombing was too careless for someone like Jack, who would have likely installed cameras.
He would have wanted to ensure that only Sonny was present, especially given his feelings for Carly Spencer (Laura Wright), Michael’s mother. The question of who tried to kill Sonny Corinthos by detonating a bomb in his penthouse remains unsolved.
Many want Sonny dead, but the way it went down leads me to doubt that...
