Philip K. Dick's daughter Isa Dick Hackett talks about The Adjustment Bureau, upcoming adaptations of her father's work, and much more
Author Philip K. Dick is a name synonymous with greatness in the sci-fi genre, not only for his extensive catalog of novels and short stories, but also for the film adaptations of his work. Although there have been 11 movie adaptations of his novels and short stories - including Blade Runner, Total Recall, and one of my personal favorites (not only of his work, but in the sci-fi genre as a whole), Minority Report - the author published 44 novels and 121 short stories in 30 years as a published writer.
Philip K. Dick passed away in 1982, shortly before the first film adaptation based on one of his novels, Blade Runner, was released in theaters. Shortly after his death, his daughter Isa Dick Hackett and her siblings were put in control of his father's works,...

Director George Nolfi talks The Adjustment Bureau, showing a different side to New York City, making this Philip K. Dick story his directorial debut, and more.
Like most screenwriters, George Nolfi had always wanted to direct. He wrote four movies - Timeline, Ocean's Twelve, The Sentinel, and The Bourne Ultimatum - before getting his shot at the helm. Unlike most directors, George Nolfi landed an extremely ambitious project for his directing debut in The Adjustment Bureau, which will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on June 21.
I recently had the chance to speak over the phone with George Nolfi about The Adjustment Bureau. Here's what he had to say.
I was curious about how you first came across this Philip K. Dick short story, and when you decided to adapt it?
George Nolfi: Sure. Michael Hackett, a producer on the film and a good friend of mine, pitched the story to me,...

I recently spoke with actor Michael Kelly about his role in The Adjustment Bureau, which hits the shelves on Blu-ray and DVD on June 21, The actor also recently appeared on the CBS series Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior, which was canceled last month. However, that cancellation may lead to a new job, acting alongside his best friend Josh Lucas in The Firm. Here's what Michael Kelly had to say below.
"My buddy Josh Lucas is doing The Firm for NBC. Right before I left, I auditioned to play his brother. Josh is one of my closest friends, and I texted him saying, 'What do you know about The Firm? Are you going to do it?' He said, 'It's looking like it.' I said, 'Well, Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior was just canceled.' He said, 'I was kind of selfishly hoping it would, so you could be available for this.

Actor Michael Kelly discusses his role in The Adjustment Bureau, working with Matt Damon, The Firm TV series, and more
Michael Kelly is one of those actors you practically have to take notice of, not just because of his chops, but because he keeps popping up in high-profile projects. He portrayed Andy Kaufman's brother in Man on the Moon, but I first noticed him in one of the most memorable episodes of my favorite TV show, The Shield, in a Season One episode where he played a serial killer. Most will recognize him as the hardened Cj in the Dawn Of The Dead along with the many roles that followed in movies such as Invincible, Changeling, Defendor, and Law Abiding Citizen, just to name a few. His latest movie is The Adjustment Bureau, where he plays Charlie Traynor, the campaign manager of Matt Damon's David Norris.

Title: The Adjustment Bureau Directed by: George Nolfi Starring: Matt Damon, Emily Blunt and Lisa Thoreson Action movies today often thrive on numerous big-budget stunts and forget about creating developed characters that audiences can relate to. However, the new romance thriller ‘The Adjustment Bureau,’ starring Matt Damon and Emily Blunt, successfully takes the risky move of forgetting the old stereotypes that comprise the suspense genre to instead focus on its characters. ‘The Adjustment Bureau’ follows New York congressman David Norris (played by Damon), who has long been embraced by the people he represents. However, his political luck is running out while he’s running for the U.S. Senate. On the night of the election, he [...]...

Hitting movie theaters this weekend:
The Adjustment Bureau – Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, Lisa Thoreson
Beastly – Alex Pettyfer, Vanessa Hudgens, Mary-Kate Olsen
Rango – (voices of) Johnny Depp, Isla Fisher, Timothy Olyphant
Take Me Home Tonight – Topher Grace, Anna Faris, Dan Fogler
Movie of the Week
Rango
The Stars: Johnny Depp, Isla Fisher, Timothy Olyphant
The Plot: A chameleon that aspires to be a swashbuckling hero (Depp) finds himself in a Western town plagued by bandits and is forced to literally play the role in order to protect it.
The Buzz: Director Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Carribean Trilogy, The Ring) takes a swash at his first animated feature. I thought the trailer for this film was excellent — Rango looks to be visually stunning, narratively engaging, and comically amusing. Verbinski’s adventure-film stripes are well earned — he knows his way around the genre — and this looks to be a strong addition to his filmography.
