Some would say actor James Landry Hébert (pronounced "Ayy-Bear") was born in Lafayette, Louisiana, in 1984; others argue that, after being raised on an Indian reservation, the actor was born while studying theater at LSU. After returning to his beleaguered home state following Hurricane Katrina, he discovered a growing Hollywood boomtown he was only too eager to take part(s) in. Cutting his teeth as Brad Pitt's stand-in on The Curious Case of Benjamin Button led to work in casting, but it wasn't until his breakout turn as the heavy "Webb" in the SXSW thriller Two Step - praised by The Hollywood Reporter for "a riveting performance" - that his career lived up to its promise.
Since then, Hébert has built a career defined by range and intensity. He went toe-to-toe with Sean Penn in Ruben Fleischer's Gangster Squad, alongside Josh Brolin and Ryan Gosling, and became a fan favorite as Wade, the series-regular cowboy in Taylor Sheridan's 1883. He was also a series regular on NBC's action drama Taken, with additional television work including Stranger Things, Westworld, and The Righteous Gemstones, where he shared the screen with Bradley Cooper.
On the film side, Hébert has collaborated with Quentin Tarantino (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood), Kevin Costner (Horizon: An American Saga), and appeared in the Oscar-nominated To Leslie. Along the way, he has also worked with acclaimed filmmakers such as J. J. Abrams (Super 8), Frank Darabont (Mob City), Rian Johnson (Looper), and a growing list of acclaimed filmmakers.
Known for his horsemanship and often performing his own stunts, Hébert brings authenticity to his many Western roles while continuing to expand his range into contemporary film and television. He appears in every episode of Season 3 of HBO's Euphoria, continuing a career defined by grit, versatility, and an ever-evolving sense of discovery.
