A Machu Picchu Proposal Review: A Trip Worth Taking
Image
Some stories begin not with a bang, but with a spreadsheet. In A Machu Picchu Proposal, we are introduced to our protagonist, Katie (Rhiannon Fish), a cooking instructor whose life is as meticulously organized as her pantry. Her core mechanic, so to speak, is planning.

The film’s main quest is handed to her by her twin brother, Dan (Christopher Vieira), a fellow devotee of order and schedules. He has summoned her to Peru for a critical mission: to help him stage a flawless marriage proposal for his girlfriend, Luciana (Michelle Rosselló).

The initial objective seems clear. But like any good narrative, an unexpected variable is introduced. That variable is Carlos (Alec Santos), a charismatic chef and friend of Luciana’s, whose spontaneous nature acts as a direct counter to the twins’ carefully laid plans. His arrival immediately sends their itinerary into a tailspin, setting the stage for a delightful...

Welcome to another horror/sci-fi round-up! This time around we have word of two big cast confirmations for Independence Day 2, details on Scream Factory's Deep in the Darkness Blu-ray / DVD release, and information on the new Blanc/Biehn Productions film, Treachery.

Independence Day 2: Last night it was revealed that the first official cast member had signed on to star in Roland Emmerich's Independence Day 2, the sequel to his 1996 film that featured massive alien-induced destruction and larger-than-life characters. It's now been confirmed that one of those characters will be coming back, as Emmerich tweeted last night that Jeff Goldblum will appear in the sequel, likely reprising his role as the brainy and dryly humorous David Levinson, who teamed up with fighter pilot Captain Steven Hiller to take down the mothership in the original film. Smith will not be coming back to reprise his role as Steven.

Blu Review: Dead Souls
When reviewing movies, it's sometimes hard to judge them fairly by the mediums they were created for. For instance, to come down as hard on a TV-movie created on a small budget as you do a bigger one like the A Nightmare on Elm Street remake would be unjust. That's how I tried to look at Chiller's Dead Souls.

Johnny Petrie (Jesse James) inherits an old farmhouse on his 18th birthday from a family he didn't even know he had. Tired of living under the thumb of his overprotective aunt (Geraldine Hughes), he decides to visit his boyhood home and solve the mystery as to who he really is. Upon arriving, he discovers his father (J.H. Torrance Downes) was a local preacher in the small Maine town. He went crazy one night and murdered his entire family, leaving the restless spirits of his mother (Elizabeth Irene) and siblings (Kyle Donnery...

Movie Review: Dead Souls, an Original Chiller Channel Film
Reviewed by By Colleen Wanglund, MoreHorror.com

I don’t like the Chiller channel….I mean I really don’t like it. They edit for television, have too many commercials and/or promos and the movies they make generally suck. However, I was pleasantly surprised with Chiller’s original film Dead Souls (2012) based on the novel of the same name by Michael Laimo.

I’ll even go so far as to say that I had higher-than-usual expectations for this one and was pleased to see those expectations met. You see, I know Michael and while hanging out at the Horrorfind Convention this past September I got to talk to him a bit about the movie. He explained some of the adaptations made so that the story could be turned into a coherent re-telling for a roughly two hour runtime. He also told me that he did have a say in...

Bill Moseley Discusses Chiller Channel's Dead Souls, Airing Friday, October 12
There are no fools working at Chiller's offices. Nary a one. They all know if you want to generate interest for your original feature films, you need big name actors. And who's better to fill that role than the legendary Bill Moseley?

Dead Souls airs Friday, October 12th at 9:00 p.m. on Chiller. Check out Chillertv.com for more info.

Moseley talked about what drew him to the film. "Dead Souls is cool because it's one of the things that I love to do and don’t really do very much of and that is supernatural films," Moseley said. "The book by Michael Laimo and John Doolan’s script were very, very cool. It’s a supernatural thriller, it’s a whodunit in a way but there certainly are horrific elements. The farm...

DVD Review: Remains
Remains

Stars: Lance Reddick, Miko Hughes, Grant Bowler, Tawny Cypress, Anthony Marks, Evalena Marie, Bobby Rice | Written by John Doolan | Directed by Colin Theys

Ok, so colour me surprised. I’ll admit I had no real idea what Remains was when I was sent it to review, to me it looked like it could be an interesting zombie movie. Little did I know it was based on the comic of the same name by Steve Niles, the genius behind 30 Days of Night. Turning his hand from vampire lore to zombie tale, with the comic Niles once again manages to create a refreshing new take on a oft-told and familiar story; and the same applies to this movie which was made by, and originally aired on, the Chiller cable network in the Us.

Based on the highly acclaimed Idw graphic novel written by the aforementioned Steve Niles, the film tells the story of a post-apocalyptic Reno,...

Dread Central Visits the Set of Chiller's Dead Souls
Recently Dread Central was lucky enough to travel to the quiet town of Canterbury, Connecticut, to visit the set of the upcoming Chiller original production Dead Souls. The film, scheduled to hit the television airwaves in October, was directed by Colin Theys and boasts the one and only Bill Moseley amongst the impressive cast.

Upon arriving at the set, one thing was abundantly clear: The production team that sought to find a location to be used as a haunted house was incredibly effective. The abandoned farmhouse used in Dead Souls was incredibly creepy. Add to that the fact that a scraggly bearded Bill Moseley was sitting on a rock outside the barn as you walked up the driveway, and the creep factor of this place goes through the roof!

Moseley spoke on working with the Dead Souls cast and crew. "They really know their stuff," Moseley said. "I think Colin [Theys] is a really cool director.

DVD Review: Alien Infiltration
Alien Infiltration

Stars: Jeremy London, Roddy Piper, Cuyle Carvin, Adrienne Lavalley | Written by John Doolan | Directed by Colin Theys

Ok, so the “plot” of Alien Infiltration is a little convoluted – After killing her daughters abusive husband, an alien crash lands in their small-town junkyard. Unable to claim the life insurance payout without a body they go on TV and offer a cash reward to whomever can kill the alien and recover the body. Tempted by a $100,000 rewards every wacko within 100 miles turns out – including an American football team, a school of karate kicking kids, the towns sheriff and a whole heap of unsavoury money-hungry vigilantes (including “Rowdy” Roddy Piper as a maching gun toting priest!), and before long the junkyard is transformed into a war zone as man takes on alien in a epic battle to the death.

With nods to many an alien invasion flick before it, Alien Infiltration...

Steve Niles’ Remains: New Pics and the Prequel for Chiller’s Original Movie
As we told you back in October, Steve Niles’ Remains will be Chiller‘s first original movie, and now it’s nearly here. It premieres this Friday, December 16 at 10/9c, and we have some pics, a summary, and a prequel to share with you. We’ll have a review of this show, and excerpts from a Q&A session with Steve Niles, later in the week.

Although it’s destined to be compared with AMC‘s The Walking Dead, the zombies in Remains are very different, as you will quickly see if you click on to the 11-minute prequel that Chiller has very kindly posted on its website. Seriously, check it out, but Not while you’re eating. It is totally gross, but it also has at least one laugh-out-loud moment. If this is a taste – sorry – of what’s to come in the movie, this production is going to be Very entertaining.

Interview: Steve Niles Talks Remains Feature Film
Some zombie tales - very much like the undead shambling about at their core - find a way of being resurrected.  Take the zombie boom of the mid-'00s.  Dawn of the Dead was revitalized for a modern movie-going audience.  Elsewhere, George Romero's zombies "lived on" in Land of the Dead, and in some respects, fueled a comic book that was just getting its start at the time called "The Walking Dead."
