After Citigroup, went to Bloomberg, starting as a producer and, in late 2005, joined CNBC.

In 1998, after graduation from Williams College, got a job as an analyst at Goldman Sachs. After one year, wrote a letter to Willow Bay at CNN. Bay hired her as her assistant at CNN, but Burnett quit shortly thereafter to work at Citigroup on an Internet media startup.

Played lacrosse and field hockey in college, earning Second Team All-NESCAC conference honors as an attack in 1997 for the latter sport.

Has three children with her husband David Rubulotta: a son Nyle Thomas Burnett Rubulotta (b. November 29, 2013), a daughter Colby Isabelle Burnett Rubulotta (b. July 18, 2015) and another son Owen Thomas Burnett Rubulotta (b. August 20, 2018).

Graduated from Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts, in 1998 with a Bachelor's degree in Political Economy.

Attended St. Andrews, a boarding school in Middleton, Delaware.

Raised on a farm outside Mardela Springs, Maryland, on the eastern shore of Chesapeake Bay.

(December 21, 2012) Married her boyfriend of 9 years David Rubulotta following a 15-month-long engagement. Burnett met her future finance executive on a blind date in 2003.
