The jury for Feature films, headed by filmmaker Sai Paranjpye selected 23 films out of a total of 118 eligible entries for the Iffi 2011, Indian Panorama Section. Malayalam film Adaminte Makan Abu, directed by Salim Ahamed which won Best Feature Film award at the recent 58th National Film Awards is the 24th film of Indian Panorama, by virtue of direct entry.
In the Non-Feature Film category, Adwaita Sangeet directed by Makarand Brahme will be the opening film. The Non-Feature films Jury chaired by writer-director Ashok Rane picked 21 films out of 135 eligible entries. The winner of Best Non-Feature film in the recent 58th National Film Awards for 2010 Germ by Snehal R. Nair has not been included in the Non-Feature film category, as it was already included in Indian Panorama 2010 last year.

Panaji, Oct 25 – A Konkani film with a background score by Remo Fernandes will be screened in the Indian Premiere section at the forthcoming International Film Festival of India (Iffi) along with two other movies of directors Amol Palekar and Rituparno Ghosh.
An Iffi official told reporters Monday that Palekar’s Marathi film ‘Dhoosar’ and Ghosh’s Bengali movie ‘Nauka Dubi’, along with Rajendra Talak’s ‘O Maria’ have been selected by the jury headed by Kerala filmmaker Shama Prasad from eight films that were shortlisted for the premiere.

Amitabh Bachchan has reportedly been snubbed by one of the organisers of the International Film Festival of India. Panaji, Nov 17 (Ians) The entertainment society of Goa (Esg), co-host of the 40th edition of the International Film Festival of India (Iffi), has held its central government partner Directorate of film festivals (Dff) responsible for not inviting legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan to grace the festival.
Bachchan has not been invited ever since Iffi shifted to Goa in 2003.
‘We always feel that we need Amitabh Bachchan. It would be great to have him at the Iffi,’ Rajendra Talak member of the red carpet committee, which oversees the logistical arrangement for the glamorous event at the Iffi told Ians Monday.
