Watch: Superhero Short Film 'Invincible Boy' Directed by Julian Park
"Actually, supernatural abilities are very real." Sometimes it's hard to keep an optimistic outlook when the world is falling apart. Even superheroes lose hope from time to time. But all they need is to be reminded of the good in the world. Invincible Boy is a fantastic new short film written & directed by Julian Park, and produced by Dan Marcus, who often writes for us. Shot in Los Angeles, the film stars Kaleb Alexander Roberts and Nathan Kim as two young friends, one of whom might just be a superhero. The cast includes Anna Garcia, Steve Phelan, & Shane Yoon. This is a long short (20 minutes), but it's entirely worth it. Thanks to Dan for the tip on this. Original description from YouTube: "A wildly imaginative boy’s mission to become a superhero is challenged when his optimistic view of the world begins to crumble." Invincible Boy is written and...

Ktown Cowboys Is A Game Changer for Asian American Movies
I’m so excited to talk about this movie. I learned of this production through various Korean entertainment websites that I frequent. I was more than curious about it and couldn’t wait to check it out.

Ktown Cowboys, directed by Daniel Park, is described as a coming-of-age movie, but it’s more like an “adulting is hard” movie. Essentially it’s the live action counterpart of a web-series about a group of friends who are wading through the last remnants of immaturity as they finally begin to accept responsibility for their lives.

It sounds deep, but it’s not. In fact, it was hilariously awkward and frank. If you have ever seen 21 & Over, this movie is basically showing you the life of the Asian kid after college if he were Korean and his friends were also Korean. Completely the opposite of 21 & Over though, the whole Ktown Cowboys movie shows...

Peter Jae, Danny Cho, Shane Yoon, Bobby Choy, and Sunn Wee in Ktown Cowboys (2015)
Coping with a dreadful boss who revels in making your professional life a harrowing experience is always a horrid situation. But when the CFO of your thriving business readily admits to authorities that he embezzled millions of dollars from the company, and he can’t afford to pay it pay, your entire existence is about to become even more disastrous. Actor Shane Yoon is compellingly contending with that appalling situation in his new comedy, ‘Ktown Cowboys.’ To showcase his character’s extreme misfortune, Shockya has an exclusive clip from the film, titled ‘Company Crisis.’ ‘Ktown Cowboys,’ which is based on the successful web series of the same name, was produced and directed [ Read More ]

Ktown Cowboys Review [SXSW 2015]
For any Americans who need a crash course in Korean-American culture, look no further than Daniel Park’s Ktown Cowboys. Playing like an instructional video for those of us who are unfamiliar with Los Angeles’ Koreatown scene, we’re introduced to a group of characters who take time out of their busy partying schedule to drop factoids about Korean lifestyles. The whole thing feels like an episode of Korean Entourage in some ways, since each character pretty much mirrors Wahlberg’s “fictional” crew, but this isn’t necessarily a bad thing for us karaoke-loving clubheads who are interested in other drunken cultures.

This is a straight-laced story about how bro-bonding can overcome the most dire of circumstances, which is nothing new, but the location of Ktown does offer more intrigue than an equal story about generic Californians with the same problem. This is Ktown, bro! Time to kick out the K-Pop and play some Starcraft!

‘KTown Cowboys’ SXSW Trailer: These Guys Know How To Party
Peter Jae, Lanny Joon, Danny Cho, Bobby Choy, and Sunn Wee in Ktown Cowboys (2010)
The origins of Ktown Cowboys go back about five years when director Daniel Park and writer Danny Cho created a web series about the late-night high jinks of best friends in Los Angeles’ Koreatown. That series followed fresh-off-the-bus Johnny (Lanny Joon) from Richmond, Va, who, jobless and hearbroken by his girlfriend, is taken under the wing of his cousin Jason (Shane Yoon) and his party hardy friends. The first episode won best feature narrative at the 2010 Los Angeles…...
