Every André Øvredal Movie, Ranked
Image
Since his directorial debut over two decades ago, André Øvredal has steadily built an impressive filmography, mostly working within the horror genre. After his first feature film, Future Murder, in 2000, the Norwegian filmmaker built a name for himself over a decade later, eventually directing popular films like Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark and The Last Voyage of the Demeter, with the latter hoping to find a place among the best Dracula movies of all time.

Despite working his way up to Hollywood productions, Øvredal is not yet a household name, but the signs of him becoming one are there, especially with Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark 2 in the works. Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is by far his most famous film, earning over $104 million worldwide when it was released in 2019 (via Box Office Mojo), and the sequel has the potential to earn even more.

Dr. Mia Jansen (Maya Stojan) and her team are skeptics when it comes to extraterrestrials, but when they hit the road to make a movie about claims of UFO sightings and alien abductions, they discover that the truth is more horrifying than they ever imagined in Case 347. With the new found footage horror film out now from DarkCoast, we've been provided with the official trailer, poster, and teaser video for Case 347 to share with Daily Dead readers.

Press Release: Los Angeles, CA – Darkcoast – “2,300 people go missing every day in the United States alone,” said Dr. Gustaf Berchum.

DarkCoast announces the 2020 release of writer/director Chris Wax’s found footage alien-horror, Case 347, based on a collection of recently discovered footage from a CIA archive as a result of the Freedom of Information Act.

'Attack of the Southern Fried Zombies': Film Review
Kaitlin Mesh, Moses J. Moseley, Wyntergrace Williams, Clay Acker, and Timothy Haug in Attack of the Southern Fried Zombies (2017)
There's only so much complaining a viewer can do about a movie titled Attack of the Southern Fried Zombies. Were you expecting The Exorcist when you bought that ticket? Director Mark Newton puts on no airs in this Grade-z gorefest, harking back to the early VHS-only days when a lack of quality was almost viewed as its own kind of virtue. Though it lacks even a shred of the self-aware humor one might hope for in such an effort, it does at least offer respite from the glut of dumb fright flicks in theaters that actually expect you to take...

Attack of the Southern Fried Zombies Turns Characters into Bloodied Meat Pies: A Film Review
Tagline: "It Grows on You." *full disclosure: an online screener of this film was provided by the film's publicity arm. Director: Mark Newton. Writers: Christian Hokenson. Cast: Miles Doleac, Timothy Haug, Johnny McPhail and Wyntergrace Williams. Attack of the Southern Fried Zombies reminds this viewer of a much older film. Kentucky Fried Movie (1977) was one of the first films this viewer remembers watching which was truly laugh out loud funny. Attack of the Southern Fried Zombies, from director Mark Newton and writer Christian Hokenson, is also full of great one-liners and silly scenarios. But, there were no zombies in the Kentucky Fried Movie. In this film, much of the undead action takes place at a music festival. Here, a toxin turns the city of Charleston mad. There is a lot of plot for viewers to chew through as the many characters have their own subplots, or character arcs to work through.
