BBC Studios Asia, Studio JanChi Team for ’12 Seas’ Korean Food Series
Image
BBC Studios Asia has set its first co-production with Studio JanChi, the Korean food content specialist behind “Korean Pork Belly Rhapsody” and “A Nation of Kimchi.” The partnership will produce “12 Seas” (working title), a four-part series exploring South Korea’s seafood culture.

The collaboration stems from an initiative agreed between Kocca (Korea Creative Content Agency) and BBC Studios last year to co-produce, co-develop and distribute Korean factual content globally. Studio JanChi won the pitch with their compelling series proposal designed to bring Korean stories to international audiences.

The series follows Chef Edward Lee and actor Ryu Soo-young as they traverse South Korea’s coastline across four seasons, unveiling the secrets behind the country’s most iconic seafood dishes. The adventurous duo will brave rocky shores to harvest wild seaweed using the traditional “Ttulidae” method and join local fishermen catching anchovies with centuries-old bamboo fish traps, immersing themselves in Korea’s rich maritime heritage.

Apos: BBC Studios Asia Teams With Korea’s Studio JanChi for Culinary Docuseries ‘12 Seas’
Image
BBC Studios Asia has unveiled its first co-production with Korean production company Studio JanChi, a four-part culinary travel series titled 12 Seas (working title).

Announced during this week’s Apos media summit in Bali, the project is part of BBC Studios’ growing partnership with the Korea Creative Content Agency (Kocca), and signals the company’s continued investment in Asian storytelling with global appeal.

The new series, slated to debut on BBC Earth and BBC Player across Asia in 2026, follows acclaimed Korean-American chef Edward Lee and actor Ryu Soo-young as they embark on a seasonal voyage around the South Korean coastline, exploring the traditions and techniques behind the country’s most iconic seafood dishes. From harvesting seaweed by hand on rugged tidal flats using the traditional Ttulidae method to fishing for anchovies with bamboo traps passed down for generations, the pair will immerse themselves in Korea’s maritime food heritage, BBC Asia says.

After premiering Deep Dive Korea: Song Ji Hyo’s Haenyeo Adventure last month, BBC Studios Asia is set to co-produce another Korean show, 12 Seas (working title).

Co-producing with Korea’s Studio JanChi, 12 Seas is a four-part series that will premiere in 2026.

The new series is supported by a partnership that BBC Studios formed with the Korean Creative Content Agency (Kocca) last August, to co-produce, co-develop and distribute Korean factual content globally.

Top Chef Fans Named The Meanest Challenges Ever
Image
Throughout the history of Top Chef, there have been many positive stories, including when Kristen Kish spoke about Padma Lakshmi supporting her. However, the reality show's former stars have been linked to grisly crimes, cheated on national television, and pleaded guilty after committing a strange act. On top of that, Top Chef has also had a guest judge Tom Colicchio named the worst ever, and a spin-off was accused of mistreating a chef.

If all that wasn't enough, Top Chef fans have had complaints about the show over the years. When they weren't naming the worst Top Chef winners of all time, fans spoke out about the meanest challenges in the past.

After Trump Win, Hollywood Prepares for Megamergers — and Volatility
Image
On Nov. 7, a day after Donald Trump’s presidential victory, Warner Bros. Discovery chief David Zaslav delivered a not-so-subtle message to Wall Street: It’s open season on dealmaking, and Hollywood is better off for it.

Discussing the narrowing field of players in a media and entertainment environment that’s in a “generational disruption,” the CEO said that the upcoming administration may “offer a pace of change and an opportunity for consolidation that may be quite different” and “provide a real positive and accelerated impact on this industry that’s needed.”

The sentiment was echoed by Perry Sook, chief executive of TV giant Nexstar who noted that he intends to jump on deals: “We believe that there is value to be created for our shareholders through further consolidation.”

And also by Sinclair chief executive Chris Ripley. “It does feel like a cloud over the industry is lifting here, and we...

The Worst Mistakes Made By MasterChef Contestants Ranked
Image
There have been hundreds of beautifully delicious dishes served throughout the years on MasterChef, but some contestants have made such detrimental mistakes that they have gone down in MasterChef history for the wrong reasons. Since MasterChef premiered back in 2010 with Gordon Ramsay, Graham Elliot, and Joe Bastianich as judges, the franchise has expanded dramatically with dozens of spin-offs and international renditions. Unlike Gordon's equally popular series Hell's Kitchen, MasterChef has featured wholesome home cooks who not just support one another, but are also faced with some seriously impressive challenges despite their lack of experience.

That being said, however, it's not rare for home cooks to fail mystery box challenges and pressure tests on MasterChef, especially as the show operates under a strict time frame. While some contestants have risen to the occasion and wowed the judges with their creations, others have crashed and burned. Now that MasterChef season 13 has been greenlit by Fox,...

‘MasterChef’ Season 7 Gets Summer Premiere Date On Fox
Image
Fox has a date for the next helping of its summer reality staple. The net said today that Season 7 of MasterChef will get cookin’ on June 1 with host Gordon Ramsay and pastry chef Christina Tosi. Wolfgang Puck is among the guest judges along with fellow celebrity chefs Aaron Sanchez, Edward Lee, Kevin Sbraga and Richard Blais.

In the season premiere episode, 40 home cooks will travel to Los Angeles, where they will attempt to earn a coveted white apron and move forward to compete for the MasterChef title, a cookbook deal and the $250,000 grand prize. Judging the battle rounds, Ramsay and Tosi will taste for flavor, creativity and presentation. “Each of the guest judges brings a unique perspective and skill to the kitchen that we believe will propel America’s best home cooks to the next level,” said Ramsay, who inked a new two-year deal with Fox last summer.

Fox last...
