The 2012 edition of “Elvira’s Horror Hunt" and the all-star jury led by Elvira, Mistress of the Dark and Peaches Christ have named the Grand Prize winners of Best Feature and Best Short films. Read on for details!

Indiana filmmaker Scott Schirmer’s Found took the top prize for Best Feature Film while Chicago-based Danny DelPurgatario’s Other secured the Best Short Film award. Seven features and thirteen shorts played in the selection process, and the winners were chosen by Elvira and Peaches and their jury of Sybil Danning, Bill Moseley, and Joe Bob Briggs.

In a combined statement from the “Elvira's Horror Hunt" jury, they express, "Found is an after-school Lifetime movie on bullying with multiple decapitations, full-frontal nude massacres, a head in a bowling bag, and then there are the disturbing parts. Both Found and Other deliver the goods in direction, acting, and special effects.

Rigney serves as co-writer on the flick, which is billed as an emotional coming-of-age story about a horror-obsessed kid (Gavin Brown) who discovers that his older brother (Ethan Philbeck) is a serial killer.

Since his comic book debut in 1990, Warren Ellis has been one of the most prolific writers in the comic industry with dozens of original creations in addition to several books for Marvel and DC.

Following the recent announcement that “Black Summer” was optioned by Vigilante Entertainment in addition to the upcoming film adaptations of his “Red” and “Gravel” series, it seems clear that Ellis has become an in-demand comic creator in Hollywood.

With an eye toward more of Ellis' work finding its way to the big (or small) screen, here are five of his projects that would also make excellent films or TV series.

Freakangels: Recently featured in our weekly "Adapt This" feature, Ellis and artist Paul Duffield's “FreakAngels” webcomic follows a group of telepaths in London rebuilding their world after a major disaster—a disaster they had a part in causing.

Production company Vinehill Entertainment has acquired rights for "Transmetropolitan," which was formerly a dystopian, DC comic book and now a feature length film. The first script has been finished and an early one-sheet, from the comic books first issue is available to be seen. Set to move into production once casting has been finished "Transmetropolitan," will blend comedy with action. Expect more information on this project once other Vinehill productions are near completion. For now have a look at the limited announced crew and Vinehill Entertainment homepage with several other films set to go into production shortly.

A new film called "The Diary," is currently shooting in various locations throughout Victoria, British Columbia beginning June 1st. Pre-production started in April 20th of this year and the project has been looking for a production crew with two further features to be shot later in the calendar. Based on a true story VineHill/Alliance Atlantis will distribute the picture with investors still being sought. For more information visit the companys website inside.
