Dan Ewing in ‘Love and Monsters.’

Dan Ewing makes his Hollywood debut in Paramount Pictures’ comedy-adventure Love and Monsters, which follows humans who were forced underground after giant creatures took control of the land.

Formerly known as Monster Problems, the Queensland-shot film directed by South African-born Michael Matthews stars Dylan O’Brien as Joel Dawson, who reconnects over the radio with his high school girlfriend Aimee (Jessica Henwick).

Aiming to rekindle their romance, he ventures out to find her, battling all the dangerous monsters that stand in his way.

Ewing plays Cap, a former naval officer who is giving Aimee and members of her colony sanctuary at sea. “My character has seen the brutal horrors of what these creatures are capable of and offers the colonists a real chance at survival,” the former Home and Away star tells If.

“Very Noah’s Ark. He also puts a great spanner in the works for Joel.

Submissions which close tomorrow can be showreels, short films or auditions; the fee is $40 per minute. Entrance to the event is free.

“The great thing that came from the first Face Off in April last year is a union between filmmakers and actors that eventuated in the making of A Remarkable Career, one of the most lauded films on the festival circuit, “ the organiser Glenn Fraser tells If.

Wyrmwood's Bianca Bradey Leads Nancy In Hell Comic to TV Adaptation, And More Wyrmwood
If there was a title belt for badass women in genre film each year Wyrmwood's Bianca Bradey would have cleared the ballots for her role as Brooke back in 2014. Badass did not begin to cover it. Phwar! Zip ahead three years later and the Australian actress is looking to add to her badass female repertoire with news from Down Under that Bradey has landed the lead role in the television adaptation of the comic book Nancy in Hell. Bradey will "play the titular character – a trash-talking, wise-cracking, whisky-swilling badass who slaughters demons with her trademark chainsaw". A Kickstarter campaign was launched by producer Jennifer Van Gessel last spring to make a pitch film for an international studio and it looks like...

‘Unleash #1′ Review (Amigo Comics)
Written by Jennifer Van Gessel, El Torres | Art by Nacho Tenorio, Sergio Mora | Published by Amigo Comics

I have very much liked what I have seen so far of Amigo Comics, producing not only good quality comics, but also trying to find something that little bit different, something to stand out in a marketplace that is not only crowded but dominated by a handful of very big companies. The smaller you are, the louder you need to shout. Not only that, what you are shouting about needs to catch the attention as well. The opening dozen pages of Unleash did that for me. Where is this going I thought, as we open with a philosophical discussion on the nature of death, and the best way to die. Turns out that was a clever way to introduce themes and elements that will be playing a part later.

We meet the book...
