Big Freaking Rat trailer: Felissa Rose creature feature is coming to VOD in April
Image
Lionsgate is planning to give the horror comedy creature feature Big Freaking Rat a VOD release on April 25th – and with just one month to go until that date arrives, a trailer for the film has dropped online. You can watch it in the embed above.

This film comes our way from writer/director Thomas J. Churchill, whose previous credits include A System Devoured, Emerging Past, The Day of the Living Dead, Check Point, The Rack Pack, Nation’s Fire, The Step Daddy, The Amityville Harvest, The Business of Christmas, The Amityville Moon, Amityville Uprising, The Godfather Buck, and Devilreaux. We recently heard that he’s teaming with Anson Williams of Happy Days and Brian Austin Green of Beverly Hills, 90210 on a horror thriller called The Three Killer Pigs.

The story Churchill crafted for Big Freaking Rat has the following synopsis: Ranger Brody, along with his niece and nephew, works...

Felissa Rose in Hilariously Bad 'Big Freaking Rat' Horror Movie Trailer
Image
"That's no freakin' racoon!" "It ain't a bear!" Lionsgate has debuted the final official trailer for a cult fave horror comedy B-movie called Big Freaking Rat, which is indeed a creature feature flick about this giant frickin' rat. This was actually made & first premiered back 2020, way before Hollywood went on to make Cocaine Bear, it's just only getting a real release now. Ranger Brody believes looking after his teenage niece and nephew will be the biggest challenge of the summer until his brand-new campground is turned into a den of terror by a massive mutant rat. Years of dumping toxic waste into the land have created a monstrous rodent with a taste for blood, and now it’s up to a reluctant band of warriors to exterminate the beast. Oh s&*t! What will they do?! Horror veteran Felissa Rose stars with Scott C. Roe, Caleb Thomas, Nino Aldi, Caroline Abbott,...

‘Amityville Uprising’ Wraps Up an Unofficial Trilogy with an Amityville Zombie Movie [The Amityville IP]
Image
Twice a month Joe Lipsett will dissect a new Amityville Horror film to explore how the “franchise” has evolved in increasingly ludicrous directions. This is “The Amityville IP.”

With Amityville Uprising, Thomas J. Churchill joins illustrious company as the only director of three Amityville films.

After kicking off his run with Amityville Harvest (2020) which focused on a film crew interviewing a vampire, Churchill’s second entry was 2001’s “werewolf in a women’s half-way house” title Amityville Moon. Now he’s back for his third film in the “series,” a self-referential zombie outing.

What makes the new film intriguing is less the details of the plot – which include a chemical explosion at a military base with unleashes red acid rain on Amityville and reanimates the dead – but how the film acts as the last part of an unofficial Amityville trilogy.

The same issues that plagued Churchill’s previous entries pop up here: too many characters,...

Thomas J. Churchill as Jake in the upcoming project @Blood & Iron
Official Trailer for Undead Acid Rain Horror Film 'Amityville Uprising'
Thomas J. Churchill as Jake in the upcoming project @Blood & Iron
"I just killed a dead guy!" Lionsgate has unveiled an official trailer for an indie direct-to-vhs horror film called Amityville Uprising, another B-movie creation from the genre filmmaker Thomas J. Churchill - of Amityville Harvest, The Business of Christmas, and Big Freaking Rat recently. The Amityville franchise has entered public domain, hence the over-use of the concept despite none of it having any real connection to the original story or the original ghosts or anything. Amityville Uprising takes place after a chemical blast at a military base sets off a supernatural disaster. The explosion unleashes a toxic acid rain that dissolves the flesh of anyone trapped in it. Even worse, it causes the dead to rise again and attack the living. How's that for a concept? The movie stars Mike Ferguson, Scott C. Roe, Tank Jones, Alysha Young, Michael Cervantes, and Barry Papick. This horror looks especially dumb, but sometimes...

Big Freaking Rat (2020)
New Trailer for Dumb Troma Horror Comedy Film 'Big Freaking Rat'
Big Freaking Rat (2020)
"Get ready for the ultimate predator!" Madman Films has released an official international trailer for Big Freaking Rat, a ridiculous B-movie Troma horror special from filmmaker Thomas J. Churchill (also of the B-movies Nation's Fire and The Amityville Harvest). This was apparently already released last fall in the US, but we haven't heard about it until now. So why not give it a look?! Nothing like a gnarly Big Freaking Rat to ruin your day. Ha ha. A ranger is about to open a campground for the season. Everything is in order and the camp seems peaceful until a giant rat, mutated by dumped toxic waste, begins killing the campers and rangers. The film stars Scott C. Roe, Caleb Thomas, Cece Kelly, Nino Aldi, Mark Hoadley, and Theresa Ireland. It is one of those films to stay far away from, unless you want to laugh at how bad it is.

‘Big Freaking Rat’ VOD Review
Image
Stars: Scott C. Roe, Dave Sheridan, Caleb Thomas, Cece Kelly, Vincent M. Ward, Felissa Rose | Written and Directed by Thomas J. Churchill

How the can you not watch a horror film called Big Freaking Rat? Give your film a title that involves a oversized creatures and I’m there. Though after the disappointment of last years Dead Ant I’m approaching these kinds of films with a bit more trepidation these days… On the plus side, Big Freaking Rat comes from director Thomas J. Churchill, who’s only other film I’ve seen is Checkpoint, the Goldberg-headlining action movie that – despite some issues – said a lot about divisions in society being exploited by those in power, be it political or financial. But I very much doubt there’ll be any political talk in a film about a giant killer rat?!

Big Freaking Rat tells the story of Ranger Brody who,...
