The 15 Best Cartoon Duos Of All Time, Ranked
Image
If animation has taught us anything, it's that life is best lived in pairs. Cartoon duos are all the rage, enriching the shows with a whole lot more fun and excitement for the viewers. Seriously, imagine if Tom didn't have Jerry -- what would he do for an entire episode? Probably nap like most cats or bemoan the stretch of time in between meals. In the same vein, what if Wile E. Coyote didn't fancy a Road Runner feast? Poor coyote would be working in tech and making products that only half work –- think "The Office" but following around Acme employees.

So, much like shoes, the best cartoon characters come in pairs. Let's take a look at the best of the best and talk about why they're as seminal as they are. There's no real scientific method here, and it's mostly about how important the characters have become in pop culture.

Comic Con 2025 Wrap-Up: Highlights From a Low-Key But Solid Year
Image
Comic Con 2025 is officially in the books, and once again, the San Diego Convention Center proved to be the ultimate destination for fans. While this year’s event was a bit more low-key—largely due to Marvel skipping its annual panel following last year’s bombshell announcement that Robert Downey Jr. would return to the franchise as Doctor Doom—it was still a strong showing overall. Despite the absence of major headline-grabbing announcements, the convention delivered a packed schedule of engaging panels, exciting previews, and enough fan-favorite content to keep attendees buzzing.

Here are some of the biggest highlights:

Alien: Earth Delivers the Goods

FX treated attendees to a full screening of the first episode of their highly anticipated new series, Alien: Earth. While a studio embargo limits what we can reveal, we’ve shared a quick, spoiler-free reaction in the video above. Let’s just say this: FX wouldn...

Wile E. Coyote makes an imprint in the newly released poster for Coyote vs. Acme
Image
Looney fans, it’s finally happening. Ketchup previously let it be known that they’ll be giving Coyote vs. Acme a theatrical release sometime in 2026, and now more information has been revealed at a San Diego Comic-Con panel – including the fact that the movie’s release is still over a year away! The official global release date is August 28, 2026.

Now, JustJared has passed along the teaser poster that’s been unveiled for Coyote vs. Acme. The image is simple, but iconic. We’re shown the desert ground with a Wile E. Coyote-shaped hole crashed into it. It harkens back to the famous Merry Melodies cartoon shorts when the Coyote pursued the Road Runner and failed at every turn. There is very little text displayed, with the release date teased and proudly stating, “In theaters.” Check it out below!

Directed by Dave Green from a screenplay by Samy Burch (who crafted...

Piper Perabo Says There’s Been “Some Discussion” About a ‘Coyote Ugly’ Sequel: “Things Are Moving Around”
Image
Piper Perabo says there has been “some discussion” about a sequel to Coyote Ugly.

The actress visited The Hollywood Reporter‘s suite at San Diego Comic-Con to promote her upcoming spy-thriller series Butterfly, alongside castmembers including Daniel Dae Kim, who stars in and executive produces the Prime Video series.

The film, which was released 25 years ago next month, stars Perabo as an aspiring songwriter who moves to New York to pursue her dreams and winds up taking a job at a trendy bar, Coyote Ugly. The cast also includes Adam Garcia, John Goodman, Maria Bello, Izabella Miko, Tyra Banks, Bridget Moynahan and Melanie Lynskey.

THR‘s Tiffany Taylor interviewed Perabo at Comic-Con, noting that there has been talk of a sequel over the years and asked what the status is.

Kim interjected, jokingly, with a suggestion for a title: “Coyote Uglier?” Quipped Perabo: “Coyote-er Ugly?”

Choosing her words very carefully,...

‘Coyote vs. Acme’ Is Back: Release Date Set with New Poster and New Look Images
Image
Coyote vs. Acme is officially back from the dead, and it’s heading to theaters around the world on August 28, 2026. The announcement came during a lively panel at San Diego Comic-Con, where cast and crew celebrated the movie’s surprising return.

The hybrid live-action and animation film, originally made by Warner Bros., was shelved in 2023 as part of a tax write-off move. It seemed like the movie would never see the light of day. But that changed when Ketchup Entertainment stepped in and bought the worldwide rights for around $50 million.

The company had also rescued another abandoned Looney Tunes film, The Day the Earth Blew Up, which ended up making over $15 million worldwide.

Paul Scheer, who hosted the Comic-Con panel, poked fun at the movie’s rocky journey. “This movie wasn’t supposed to come out,” he said. “I heard Warner Bros wouldn’t release the film — I’ve never heard of Warner Bros!

‘Coyote vs. Acme’ Reveals Release Date with Fresh Images and New Poster Drop
Image
Coyote vs. Acme has officially locked in a global release date: August 28, 2026. The announcement came straight from San Diego Comic-Con, where the cast and creators gave fans a first look at what’s to come from the long-shelved live-action and animated hybrid.

During the panel, actor and moderator Paul Scheer joked about the wild journey the movie’s had, saying, “This movie wasn’t supposed to come out,” and followed up with, “I heard Warner Bros wouldn’t release the film — I’ve never heard of Warner Bros! This is really an Acme decision and I’m saying that for legal purposes.”

Scheer later added, “Ketchup is single-handedly saving the Looney Tunes. Mr. Ketchup, we salute you.”

Originally made by Warner Bros. with a reported $70 million budget, Coyote vs. Acme was pulled from release back in 2023 so the studio could claim it as a tax write-off. But in 2025, Ketchup Entertainment...

Coyote vs. Acme First Footage Inspires Hope for Brendan Fraser’s Scrapped DC Movie
Image
Coyote vs. Acme is finally getting a release under Ketchup Entertainment after Warner Bros. earlier scrapped it. The film’s footage was featured at the San Diego Comic-Con, where actor Will Forte and director Dave Green appeared on a panel discussion. Forte shared that he was “pretty speechless” after Ketchup took over the movie (via THR).

Forte shared at the Sdcc, “It blows my mind. You think back to the journey this movie has taken. I had kind of given up hope at a certain point, so this is amazing.” The audience was also shown the first footage of the movie, where Wile E. Coyote first meets attorney Kevin Avery, played by Forte, after seeing him on a TV commercial.

Coyote and Kevin’s interaction scenes got quite the laughter from the audience, indicating that the film can thrive with a supportive crowd. The team announced that the film was...

Coyote Vs. Acme Finally Gets A Release Date After Controversial Cancellation
Image
"Coyote Vs. Acme" will finally make it to big screens worldwide on August 28, 2026! The release date was confirmed at a "Coyote vs Acme" panel at 2025 San Diego Comic-Con, where a sneak peek of the movie and a teaser trailer was screened (despite the Acme Corporation's best efforts to prevent it). For "Looney Tunes" fans who once feared they'd never be able to see the movie, another year-ish is no wait at all.

The saga of "Coyote Vs. Acme" has gone on as long — and with as many back and forth moves — as a genuine case of litigation. Like the titular coyote himself, the movie kept getting back up. Unlike Mr. Coyote, the movie is coming out on top.

"Coyote Vs. Acme" was directed by Dave Green ("Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows") and written by Samy Burch ("May December"), with "story by" credits from Burch, James Gunn, and Jeremy Slater.

‘Coyote vs. Acme’ Has the Knives Out for Warner Bros. at Sdcc, Plus Release Date Revealed
Image
If the long, twist-filled “Coyote vs. Acme” fight for a release was “It’s a Wonderful Life,” then Ketchup Entertainment would be all the townspeople at the end (79-year-old spoiler) chipping in to make sure George Bailey doesn’t go under. That’s as far as the analogy goes, though film fans can easily guess who is Mr. Potter in this scenario.

Regardless, the townspeople have won the day, and “Coyote vs. Acme” is indeed on its way — finally — with a theatrical release set for August 28, 2026. To sum things up as quickly as possible: the $70 million live-action/animated movie was one of a few (paging “Batgirl”) that were shelved in 2023 as tax write-offs for Warner Bros. (to the tune of $30 million), even though the movie had tested well. After a fan outcry, the film was put up for sale to other studios… but then it quickly was dead in the water again,...

Coyote Vs Acme First Footage Reveals Wile's Reasons For Seeking Legal Help & Courtroom Drama In New Comedy Movie
Image
The first footage from the upcoming live-action legal comedy Coyote vs. Acme played at San Diego Comic-Con with Screen Rant in attendance, and it provided a glimpse of what to expect. Starring John Cena and Will Forte at the head of a talented human cast, Coyote vs. Acme will see actors and actresses interacting with CGI toons a la Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

At the movie's Hall H panel at Comic-Con, the team behind Coyote vs. Acme also confirmed a theatrical release date, which is set for August 28th, 2025. Originally due to be shelved forever for the sake of a $30 million tax break for Warner Bros., public backlash and lobbying from its creators and cast helped give the movie new life and a wide theatrical release.

At Comic-Con, the audience at Hall H was lucky enough to see legitimate footage. The initial clip sees Wile E. Coyote reminiscing about all...

Will Forte Says Underdog Fans to Thank for 'Coyote Vs. Acme' Not Being Scrapped
Image
Coyote Vs. Acme has had one of the most tumultuous journeys to the screen of any movie in the history of cinema. Having been completed in 2023 and receiving incredible reviews from those who had seen it, the film then hit a huge stumbling block when Warner Bros. Discovery decided that they would not be releasing the movie, and it would follow the likes of Batgirl onto the tax write-off scrap heap. However, next August, Wile E. Coyote will finally get his moment to shine in cinemas when the movie is released in cinemas. For star Will Forte, there is only one group of people responsible for that happening, and perhaps we are all a little Wile E. Coyote.

Speaking at the special Coyote vs. Acme panel at Sdcc, Forte addressed the most important people, who he called the true heroes of the movie, the fans who campaigned so hard to...

Coyote vs. Acme gets a summer 2026 theatrical release date
David Zaslav
David Zaslav may be hellbent on erasing the iconic Looney Tunes properties at Warner Bros. (including removing the classic Merry Melodies shorts from the Max streaming service and demolishing the Looney Tunes building), but Ketchup Entertainment here to save the day. The Long-Awaited 'Coyote vs. Acme' Has Finally Been Given an Exact Release Date - and It Is So Far Away
Image
If there is one movie studio that has defined what it means for fans and creators to fight for the release of a “scrapped” project, then it is Warner Bros. Discovery. And this has nothing to do with the Synderverse. No, the movie that has been on everyone’s lips for what seems like forever is the Looney Tunes film, Coyote Vs. Acme. Now, after being teased for 2026 a few months ago, the Sdcc panel for the one-time potential tax write-off has now revealed exactly when it will hit theaters.

Directed by Dave Green with a screenplay by Samy Burch from a story by Burch, James Gunn, and Jeremy Slater, Coyote vs. Acme features an all-star cast that includes John Cena, Will Forte, Lana Condor, P. J. Byrne, Tone Bell, Martha Kelly, and the voice of Eric Bauza. While an official synopsis has yet to be released (expect one soon...

Jurassic World Rebirth | How The Road Runner inspired the latest dino revival
Image
Jurassic World Rebirth takes inspiration from plenty of places – some more likely than others.

“The Road Runner cannot harm the Coyote except by going ‘Beep-Beep!'”

The way he told it, Chuck Jones created Wile E Coyote and the Road Runner in the glow of nine commandments. Thou shalt not stray from the road; thou shalt buy all materials from the Acme Corporation, etcetera etcetera.

Decades later, confronted by Universal and Steven Spielberg’s need of a new Jurassic movie, veteran screenwriter David Koepp was feeling inspired. “I actually wrote a list of our nine commandments… inspired by Chuck Jones” he told The Playlist last year.

“I made a list of things that we had to abide by – one was the events of the previous six movies that cannot be contradicted or denied because I don’t like a retcon. Those are no fun. Two, humour is oxygen. Science must be real.

“It’s Tough”: John Cena Finally Opens Up About ’Coyote vs. Acme’s Fate
Image
In the almost seven years since its announcement, the live-action/hybrid film, Coyote vs. Acme has caused many headaches. Most of these pains came long after the cameras were put down, and the film was finalized, when Warner Bros. Discovery made the decision in November 2023 to shelve the completed product and never allow it to see the light of day. Since then, major moves have been made, including one that has now officially put the title back on the release calendar, with a window set for 2026. While we’ve previously heard from plenty of folks behind the movie and those involved in the decisions surrounding its release, one of its leading men, John Cena, has largely kept his opinions to himself. But, during a recent interview with ScreenRant, the actor and professional wrestler finally opened up about his feelings surrounding the movie's cancellation and its eventual acquisition by Ketchup Entertainment.

John Cena Breaks Silence On Coyote Vs. Acme's Revival 3 Months After The Movie Was Saved
Image
John Cena breaks his silence on Coyote vs. Acme's revival three months after the movie was saved. In November 2023, Warner Bros. Discovery made the controversial decision to shelve Coyote vs. Acme to claim a tax write-off, but unlike the Batgirl movie, the studio reversed course after facing public criticism, granting the filmmakers permission to find a new distributor. In March 2025, following a series of failed talks with potential buyers, Ketchup Entertainment ultimately secured the distribution rights for the Coyote vs. Acme movie, which stars Cena, Will Forte, Lana Condor, and more.

Speaking with ScreenRant's Liam Crowley for his new movie Heads of State, John Cena broke his silence on Coyote vs. Acme's revival three months after the movie was saved. The star says it's rewarding for everyone involved that the film might finally be seen. He also acknowledged the disappointment of it being shelved, though he respects the decision.

'Top Gun: Maverick' Producer Jerry Bruckheimer Has Plans for an Unexpected Sequel to a Cult Classic

Coyote Ugly took a beating from critics when it first hit theaters in the summer of 2000, but over time, the comedy-drama found new life as a cult favorite, thanks to the fans who embraced its feel-good charm and iconic soundtrack. In a time when revivals and sequels to beloved classics are all the rage, it’s somewhat surprising that Coyote Ugly hasn’t yet gotten the same treatment, especially withTyra Banks, one of its stars, championing the idea for years. That, however, might soon change as a recent update from producer Jerry Bruckheimer teases that we might be headed for another wild night at the legendary bar.

Bruckheimer has lately been out and about promoting his recent production effort with Warner Bros. — F1, a high-octane racing film starring Brad Pitt. One of those promotion rounds saw him catch up with ScreenRant for a brief chat, where the outlet stole the...

‘Rick and Morty’ Just Hilariously Called Out Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav By Name
Image
After Rick and Morty retired its most formidable villain in Season Seven, the writers of the new season had to find an even more detestable antagonist for the series — enter Warner Bros. Discovery CEO and Rick and Morty IP owner David Zaslav.

Due to his controversial cost-cutting measures and his philosophy of treating all the painstakingly created and culturally invaluable works of art in his company’s unparalleled catalog as “content,” Zaslav has earned the ire of countless creatives in the entertainment industry since the Discovery Inc. and WarnerMedia merger in 2022. But of all the streaming don’s detractors, the artists who have the most reason to detest Zaslav are undoubtedly the talented and hard-working professionals of the animation industry, who have watched helplessly as Zaslav’s Wbd canceled completed projects, slashed entire streaming services and scrubbed beloved cartoons from their list of offerings with callous indifference.

Warner Bros. Team Defends The Shelving of Coyote vs. Acme

The team behind the upcomingThe Cat in the Hat film defends the decision to shelve Coyote vs. Acme.

Per Deadline, The Cat in the Hat co-writer-director Alessandro Carloni opened up about why the axing of Coyote vs. Acme by Warner Bros. Discovery should not become "representative of how painful and atrocious the industry can be." Carloni explained, "It's that kind of industry. You have to go with the frustration. We are lucky to do art in our profession but we can’t lock ourselves in a basement and paint a painting. We get to do things that are huge and expensive and it is a business."

Erica Rivinoja, who wrote and directed The Cat in the Hat alongside Carloni, added that audiences can help prevent future cancellations in one simple way. "Go to the movies," Rivinoja said. "Go to the big ones, go to the small ones, don't just stream them.

We can reveal that Grégoire Melin’s Paris-based Kinology will serve as international sales agent for Ketchup Entertainment, which bought worldwide rights to the film from Warner Bros in a big deal earlier this year and is releasing in North America at a date tbc.

We understand there will be footage for buyers to see and potentially a market screening but the latter isn’t set yet.

Will Forte, John Cena and Lana Condor star in the movie, which follows Wile E. Coyote, who, after Acme products fail him one too many times in his dogged pursuit of the Roadrunner, decides to hire a billboard lawyer to sue the Acme Corporation. The case pits Wile E. and his lawyer (Forte) against the latter...

Southern Comfort (1981) Revisited – Horror Movie Review
Image
Deliverance is seen as the benchmark for backwoods, fish out of water thrillers but it’s not alone. While it’s certainly true that the John Boorman 1972 thriller had more success with its 46 million dollar return on a 2-million-dollar budget and 3 Oscar nominations including Best Picture, it may have been bested 9 years later. Southern Comfort has just as good of a pedigree in front of and behind the camera and continues to gain a better and better reputation 44 years later. The horrors found within this movie permeate the entire run time and include one of the most intense and nerve wracking final 20 minutes ever put to the screen that will sit with you long after the credits. Don’t mess with the locals as we revisit Southern Comfort.

Let’s start with director/writer/producer Walter Hill. Hill is a legend in Hollywood on both the big and small screens.

Will Forte shares gratitude & excitement for Coyote vs Acme release
Image
When it was announced that Coyote vs Acme was being unceremoniously shelved, it became The People vs. Warner Bros. — or rather, The People vs. David Zaslav, the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery who made the move as part of a tax write-off. Thankfully, the company let up in their initial decision and let the filmmakers find distirbution elsewhere. After leaving the movie hanging in the air (not unlike Wile E. Coyote in the shorts), it finally found a home with Ketchup Entertainment. And like everyone else, star Will Forte is celebrating.

Forte, who plays Wile E. Coyote’s attorney in his lawsuit against Acme Corporation, recently expressed just how surprised he is that everything came together far better than anyone could have expected. “I never thought it would happen so it just came out of nowhere and I’m so thrilled. Thank you Ketchup Entertainment, I’m so excited for people to see this movie.

'Coyote vs. Acme' Star Is "Thrilled" Looney Tunes Movie Is Getting a Release
Image
Nearly a month after Coyote vs. Acmewas saved from the scrapheap by Ketchup Entertainment, having previously been discarded by Warner Bros. as part of a tax write-off, star Will Forte has vowed to go to extreme lengths to promote the Looney Tunes movie ahead of its theatrical release, which is expected to roll out sometime next year — even if it means climbing to the top of Mount Everest to shout about it from the rooftops to help generate interest and make it a box office success.

While attending the Los Angeles premiere of his new show The Four Seasons, Forte briefly turned his attention to a project he filmed long before the Netflix miniseries: the formerly shelved Coyote vs. Acme. The cameras started rolling on the hybrid live-action/animated legal comedy in March 2022, with Forte starring as Wile E. Coyote's lawyer Kevin Avery opposite John Cena's Acme Corporation attorney Buddy Crane,...

Coyote vs. Acme Star Reacts to Doomed Looney Tunes Film Getting Rescued After Controversial Cancelation
Image
When Coyote vs. Acme was canceled by Warner Bros. as a tax writeoff, no-one was more disappointed than star Will Forte. He had been cast in the movie as Wile E. Coyote's lawyer, and he'd been so excited about the film.

The backlash to the cancelation was swift, and it spread all over social media. People were furious, especially since Warner Bros. had also recently scrapped the highly anticipated Batgirl and the Scooby-Doo flick Scoob! Holiday Haunt. And eventually, the pushback resulted in success. Ketchup Entertainment, who had previously released The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes movie, saved Coyote vs. Acme by acquiring the film for a theatrical release.

While at the premiere of his new show The Four Seasons on April 24, Forte got the chance to share with The Hollywood Reporter his elation over the film being saved. “I never thought it would happen, so...

Image
We’re getting the first look at footage from Sirens, Netflix’s upcoming dark comedy starring Meghann Fahy, Julianne Moore and Milly Alcock.

Set to Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know,” the trailer finds Meghann Fahy’s Devon determined to retrieve her sister from what she sees as a “creepy relationship” between Alcock’s Simone and her socialite boss Michaela “Kiki” Kell, played by Moore. Devon appears at Kiki’s mansion after learning their father, played by Bill Camp, has dementia and is disturbed that Simone could only be bothered to send a fruit basket.

Created by Emmy-nominated writer and showrunner Molly Smith Metzler (Maid) and executive produced by LuckyChap, the five-episode limited series is an adaptation of Metzler’s play Elemeno Pea. Per the logline, “Michaela’s cult-ish life of luxury is like a drug to Simone, and Devon has decided it’s time for an intervention.

Peter Bart: Big B.O. Bets Wagered On Video Games And Vampires As Hollywood Tries To Banish Bitter Woes
Image
Talk about turnarounds: Hollywood is getting high marks this week for two timely hits that are being devoured by Gen Z audiences worldwide.

Filmgoers are lauding the game-based A Minecraft Movie and the original thriller Sinners — a veritable feast of video games and vampires.

And memories are short. Two years ago at this moment studio chiefs were running for cover, film releases were canceled, strikes were looming and Warner Bros. announced that all its product would be released as streaming movies. The studio even came up with the perfect counterprogramming for Oppenheimer: It was called Coyote vs Acme, basking in the afterglow of Looney Tunes.

Then came the show-stopper: Emerging from the mist was a concept called Barbenheimer. A few critics threw up their hands until Tom Cruise promised to see Oppenheimer and Barbie back to back. Even Scorsese lent his endorsement. The Coyote had vanished into the pink cloud of Barbiedom.

The 6 Most Insane Stunts From Comedy Movies
Image
After a century of non-recognition for their broken bones and unsightly bruises, movie stunt designers are finally getting their own Oscar. It’s about time stunt guys and gals get their flowers for death-defying feats. But forget Mission: Impossible Xiv and the next James Bond — many comedies are stuffed with outrageous acts of physical prowess, too.

Here are six of the most insane stunts from classic comedies…

1 Jackass 3D

The Guardian couldn’t get enough of this tour de force, featuring Steve O in a port-o-potty that’s shot into the air like a rocket. But wait — the flying toilet is tethered to the earth with bungee cords, meaning Steve O gets doused in doo-doo with each bounce. If the Academy had its act together in 2010, the Jackass team could have claimed its Oscar.

2 Safety Last!

The fact that Harold Lloyd hanging from a clock hand in 1923 still inspires sweaty...

Tom & Jerry is Coming Back: We Love What Warner Bros is Doing With Iconic Cartoons
Image
A new and exciting version of the animated Tom & Jerry is being brought to the theaters in the near future by Warner Bros. The studio was at the receiving end of significant criticism from fans of these classic cartoons after Coyote vs Acme‘s treatment. The film, which was on sale since February 2024, was sold to Ketchup Entertainment in March 2025.

Many fans almost believed that Warner Bros. would distance itself from these kinds of projects involving cartoon characters. However, WB Animation has doubled down on the classics, announcing not only a theatrical Tom & Jerry film but also theatrical versions of The Flintstones and Looney Tunes.

A movie about Hanna-Barbera’s iconic cat-and-mouse characters was first reported in December. The Flintstones project has been in development at the studio from 2023, however, the current film appears to be a...

Image
Looney Tunes is one of those childhood gems that has something for everybody, a nonstop laughter riot with chaos and classic one-liners that adults still rave about.

Fans love seeing Bugs, Daffy, and the gang on the big screen, where their antics feel even bigger and wilder. So, when a live-action/animated movie starring Will Forte and the iconic gang was announced, fans were pumped, only to be let down when it got shelved.

Wile E. Coyote Is Heading to Court as ‘Coyote vs. Acme’ Finally Lands Theatrical Release
Image
Wile E. Coyote’s legal battle with the Acme Corp., accused of sabotaging his skirmishes with the Road Runner by way of faulty products, is heading to court as Coyote vs. Acme finally heads to movie theaters. Warner Bros. shelved the film in 2023, but widespread backlash led to it being acquired for global distribution by Ketchup Entertainment.

Ketchup Entertainment, which recently released The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie, landed the live-action/animated hybrid film for around $50 million, according to The Wrap. In 2023, it was reported that Warner Bros.

‘The Day the Earth Blew Up’ Fights Against a Major Drop to Hit Another Box Office Milestone
Image
The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie has crossed another global box office milestone during its third weekend in theaters. Despite dropping 59% this weekend, The Day the Earth Blew Up has reached the $10 million mark at the global box office, with $8 million coming from domestic earnings and $2.2 million coming from international markets. The film wasted no time becoming the highest-grossing domestic movie ever for its distributor, Ketchup Entertainment, beating Ben Affleck’s Hypnotic, the 2023 sci-fi thriller that grossed only $4.5 million domestically. The latest Looney Tunes movie is also knocking on the door of becoming one of the top 20 highest-grossing movies of the year domestically, with its $8 million total leaving it $2 million behind Becoming Led Zeppelin in the #20 spot.

The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes movie opened with $3.1 million at the box office the weekend of March 14. This was enough to earn the film a spot in the top five,...

Coyote Vs. Acme Will Get Released After Being Rescued By An Unlikely Savior
Image
As it turns out, that's not all, folks! Like Wile E. Coyote defying death over and over again, the longstanding drama surrounding the once-shelved "Coyote vs. Acme" animated/live-action hybrid film has finally come to a close -- and it's pretty much the best possible outcome movie fans could've ever hoped to get. We previously reported that, against all odds, Warner Bros. was actually seeking new buyers to take the unwanted (yet fully completed) film off its hands, a stunning about-face from CEO David Zaslav opting to disappear the movie without a trace for nothing more than tax purposes. The early word was that the distributor behind the recent "The Day The Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie," Ketchup Entertainment, would swoop in as the most unexpected savior of all. Well, that dream has now become a reality.

Today brings the joyous news for animation fans all over the...

Ketchup Entertainment secures the purchase of Coyote vs Acme from Warner Bros.
Image
It’s Ketchup Entertainment to the rescue again! While David Zaslav is, for some reason, hellbent on erasing the iconic Looney Tunes properties at Warner Bros. (including removing the classic Merry Melodies shorts from the Max streaming service and demolishing the Looney Tunes building), Ketchup Entertainment is sliding in to catch the projects getting thrown out by the studio. They have already released the Looney Tunes movie, The Day the Earth Blew Up, which features Daffy Duck and Porky Pig (both voiced by Eric Bauza), with Petunia Pig (Candi Milo) rounding out the trio. The film finds Daffy and Porky learning that aliens are plotting to overtake the planet, which leads the pair to put their differences aside and help save the world.

Ketchup was also making a deal with Warners on releasing Coyote vs Acme, which was making headlines earlier as another high-profile project to get shelved by the...

‘Coyote vs. Acme’ Movie Saved by Ketchup Entertainment
Image
Ketchup Entertainment has made it official by acquiring from Warner Bros. Pictures the worldwide rights to Coyote vs. Acme, which stars Will Forte and John Cena opposite an animated Wile E. Coyote.

The live-action/animated hybrid film that brings the iconic Looney Tunes character to the big screen ignited social media when the Hollywood studio canceled it after deciding against releasing that movie theatrically and included as part of a $115 million impairment charge.

But behind the scenes, Ketchup and Warners were hammering out an acquisition deal that would put the project in theaters.

Gareth West, CEO of Ketchup Entertainment, said in a statement on Monday: “We’re thrilled to have made a deal with Warner Bros. Pictures to bring this film to audiences worldwide. Coyote vs. Acme is a perfect blend of nostalgia and modern storytelling, capturing the essence of the beloved Looney Tunes characters while introducing them to a new generation.

The Coyote lives! Victory for the little people! The Acme anvils are flying once again, because Ketchup Entertainment has officially acquired the worldwide distribution rights to Coyote vs. Acme from Warner Bros. Pictures, reviving the long-awaited live-action/animated hybrid film that stars none other than Looney Tunes’ most determined (and perpetually unlucky) predator: Wile E. Coyote.

The move comes after months of uncertainty about the film’s fate following Warner Bros.' initial decision to shelve it—a decision that had fans and filmmakers absolutely furious at the lack of respect shown to the people involved in creating it, but now, thanks to Ketchup, Wile E. Coyote will finally have his day in court—and at the box office.

Brands That Only Exist On-Screen

Movie directors love to create fictional brands that only exist in their own cinematic universes, like Quentin Tarantino’s Red Apple cigarettes, Kevin Smith’s Chewlies gum or Martin Scorsese’s Rolling Stones. It adds a touch of realism while avoiding thorny licensing agreements. But a few fictional brands can be claimed by no master, because they keep getting used over and over in movies and TV shows of all stripes. Such as…

On the small screen, drinking tends to be little more than a catalyst for outrageous shenanigans, and real beer brands don’t like to be associated with that kind of nonsense. That’s why, if you see someone on TV drinking a beer that has a label, odds are it’s Heisler. It’s a brand created by the graphics team at one of Hollywood’s leading prop houses, and although it’s actually just...
