When the fourth season of “Stranger Things” dropped on Netflix in 2022, the streamer’s biggest tentpole series was not available all at once to binge — which it had been for its prior three seasons, just as virtually every Netflix show to that point had been released. The show ended on a cliffhanger seven episodes in, and a little over a month later, the two-part finale created another streaming moment.
“Stranger Things 4” had been delayed because of Covid-related shutdowns, and so too was “Emily in Paris” Season 4 derailed by the 2023 writers and actors strikes, causing that show to likewise be released in two batches. According to a Netflix spokesperson, instead of delaying the whole season, Netflix opted to release what it had to fans early and roll out the remainder later when they were ready.

Sometimes, ideas languish for years and die with a whisper in Hollywood, but sometimes, just sometimes, they move along swimmingly. While negotiations were just announced last month, it appears that Guy Ritchie's new TV series for Showtime and Paramount+ has already begun production in London, with Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, and Helen Mirren starring in the show (which has the working title of The Associate). According to a new press release from Paramount:
"Hardy will play Harry Da Souza, a professional conciliator on behalf of the Harrigan family, while Brosnan will play Conrad Harrigan, the head of a very successful Irish crime family based out of London for whom Harry works. Mirren will play Maeve Harrigan, Conrad’s wife and the Harrigan family matriarch."
Jez Butterworth is also involved as an executive producer, hot off his excellent new C.I.A. thriller on Showtime and Paramount+, The Agency.

Updated: Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan have officially signed on to star in the Paramount+ series from Guy Ritchie and Ronan Bennett.
It was previously reported that the trio were in final negotiations to join the show. The project had initially been developed with the title “The Donovans,” with plans to function as an across-the-pond spin-off of the Showtime series “Ray Donovan,” which was led by Liev Schreiber for seven seasons and a film adaptation. However, it has been reworked into a standalone series with no connections to that franchise. It was also previously reported that it was filming under the working title “The Associate,” but that is no longer the case.
Production is now underway in London, with the untitled show slated to debut in 2025 on Paramount+ with Showtime. The role reunites Hardy and Ritchie, who previously worked together on the 2008 film “RocknRolla.” It also keeps Mirren in business with Paramount,...

In a TV production climate that saw a 20% plummet in Los Angeles last year and an overall drop-off of 40% since 2022, risky, large-scale prestige projects are no longer the name of the game. But Roku Media content chief David Eilenberg sees a way to keep “risk built into the system”: social media influencers.

Sylvester Stallones hugely popular series Tulsa King returned to Paramount+ for its second season on September 15, and the crime drama is already shattering records for the streaming service. A new report courtesy of Deadline reveals that the Season 2 premiere of Tulsa King amassed 2 million global views in its first 24 hours, an all-time record for the series. In its first seven days, the episode managed to draw in 5.4 million households in total, which Paramount Global Co-CEO and President Chris McCarthy says is a result of two things: Stallones drawing power, and the combination of showrunner Terrence Winter and creator Taylor Sheridans abilities to tell compelling stories set in a distinctive world.
The shows success is a testament to the combination of Slys star power and swagger coupled with Terry Winters gifted writing and the unique world building that only Taylor Sheridan can do.
