While negotiations were just announced last month, it appears that Guy Ritchie's new TV series for Showtime and Paramount+ has already begun production in London, with Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, and Helen Mirren starring in the show (which has the working title of The Associate). According to a new press release from Paramount:

"Hardy will play Harry Da Souza, a professional conciliator on behalf of the Harrigan family, while Brosnan will play Conrad Harrigan, the head of a very successful Irish crime family based out of London for whom Harry works. Per the streamer, Hardy will play Harry Da Souza, a professional conciliator on behalf of the Harrigan family. Brosnan stars as Conrad Harrigan, the head of a very successful Irish crime family based out of London for whom Harry works. Following the Ramsey family, before and after the tragedy as they go through the painful loss of a child while facing intense public scrutiny caused by a media frenzy that captivated an entire nation, the series will explore “the unbreakable partnership of these two complex people – as husband and wife, as mother and father – who had committed themselves and their children to building the narrative of a perfect, privileged life only to have it destroyed one Christmas night in 1996,” per the official logline.

Melissa McCarthy and Clive Owen will star in the drama, currently titled JonBenét Ramsey, which has scored a series order at Paramount+. The series comes from Yellowstone producers MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios and showrunner Richard Lagravenese (Behind the Candelabra). Harrison Query and Tommy Wallach, who sold the project to MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios, and Lagravenese are writing.

Anne Sewitsky (Presumed Innocent) has also signed on to direct four of the eight episodes in the series.

The show was first reported to be in the works back in March, but it had not landed at Paramount+ at that time. McCarthy and Owen will star as JonBenét’s parents, Patsy and John Bennett Ramsey.

McCarthy will play JonBenet Ramsey’s mother Patsy Ramsey and Owen will play father John Bennett Ramsey in the project, tentatively titled JonBenét Ramsey.

As Deadline previously reported, the limited series had been eying a green light, with Paramount+ rumored as the distribution platform.

Production will begin shortly in Calgary, Canada, with Richard Lagravenese serving as showrunner and executive producer. Four of the eight episodes, including the first episode, will be directed by Anne Sewitsky (Presumed Innocent), who will also serve as executive producer.

Per Variety, Genesis Rodriguez has boarded Season 2 of Lioness as Captain Josephina Carrillo. The character is described as a "dedicated soldier with a fierce personality," as well as a "skilled helicopter pilot. The casting comes after Rodriguez wrapped up filming on the Kevin Smith movie, The 4:30 Movie. Rodriguez previously worked with Smith on the films Yoga Hosers and Tusk.
