Sharon Horgan and Michael Sheen are to lead the Jack Thorne-scripted BBC One drama Best Interests. The duo will play married couple Nicci and Andrew who have two daughters: Katie (Alison Oliver) and Marnie (Niamh Moriarty). Marnie has a life-threatening condition and doctors believe it is in her best interests to be allowed to die, but her loving family disagree. Thus begins a fight that will take them through every stage of a legal process, as they struggle to contemplate this huge decision. Additional cast include Noma Dumezweni, Chizzy Akudolu, Des McAleer, Mat Fraser, Gary Beadle, Jack Morris, Pippa Haywood, Shane Zaza, Lucian Msamati and Lisa McGrillis. Thorne said: “Best Interests cases are both compelling and revealing. Our country has a very troubled relationship with disability and these cases put a spotlight on that. But our drama is first...

Samuel L. Jackson and Hugh Grant star in trailer for ‘Death to 2020’
Image
Netflix has debuted a new trailer for the comedy mockumentary ‘Death to 2020’ featuring Samuel L. Jackson and Hugh Grant.

2020: A year so [insert adjective of choice here], even the creators of Black Mirror couldn’t make it up… but that doesn’t mean they don’t have a little something to add. It is a comedy event that tells the story of the dreadful year that was — and perhaps still is? This landmark documentary-style special weaves together a chorus of narration from some of the world’s most (fictitious) renowned voices with real-life archival footage spanning the past 12 months.

It stars Samuel L. Jackson as “Dash Bracket” – Reporter, New Yorkerly News, Hugh Grant as “Tennyson Foss” – Professor of History, Kumail Nanjiani as “Bark Multiverse” – CEO, Shreekr, Tracey Ullman as “Queen Elizabeth II” – Monarch and Figurehead, Samson Kayo as “Pyrex Flask” – Scientist, Lisa Kudrow as “Jeanetta Grace Susan” – Non-Official Spokesperson, Diane Morgan as “Gemma Nerrick” – Average Citizen,...

Black Mirror (2011)
Netflix’s ‘Death to 2020’ Trailer: Samuel L Jackson, Hugh Grant and Lisa Kudrow Dissect the Worst Year Ever (Video)
Black Mirror (2011)
“Black Mirror” masterminds Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones have dreamed up an even more horrifying way to end 2020 than with a new batch of “Black Mirror” episodes: a mockumentary about the year we all just suffered through.

Netflix dropped the trailer for Brooker and Jones’ “Death to 2020” special on Monday featuring Samuel L. Jackson, Hugh Grant, Kumail Nanjiani, Tracey Ullman, Samson Kayo, Lisa Kudrow, Diane Morgan, Leslie Jones, Cristin Milioti, Joe Keery and narrated by Laurence Fishburne.

Of course, those big-name actors aren’t playing themselves, but rather versions of people who have become the “stars” of 2020: Jackson as Dash Bracket – Reporter, New Yorkerly News; Grant as Tennyson Foss – Professor of History; Nanjiani as Bark Multiverse – CEO, Shreekr; Ullman as Queen Elizabeth II – Monarch and Figurehead; Kayo as Pyrex Flask – Scientist; Kudrow as Jeanetta Grace Susan – Non-Official Spokesperson; Morgan as Gemma Nerrick – Average Citizen; Jones as Dr. Maggie Gravel...

The X Factor: Only The Young on Reece Bibby's tweet and shouty man
The X Factor eliminees Only The Young have admitted that they were shocked by Reece Bibby's recent tweet - which seemed to suggest he wanted them to leave the competition.

Bibby, a member of Stereo Kicks, apparently tweeted that he'd voted for Only The Young to leave the show in an online poll - though he later claimed that he wasn't in charge of his Twitter account at the time.

"We saw him and we just talked about it - 'What was it about?'" Only The Young's Mikey Bromley told Digital Spy today. "And he claimed it wasn't him, so we were just like, 'Yeah, fair enough'.

"But when we saw it we were a bit like, 'Oh, what?' We weren't angry, we were just a bit like, 'Woah, what was that about?' But what's done is done."

Bromley admitted that he was "a bit" disappointed by the situation,...

Only The Young defend Louis Walsh
Only The Young have defended their 'X Factor' mentor Louis Walsh. The four piece - made up of Parisa Tarjomani, Mikey Bromley, Betsy-Blue English and Charlie George - have jumped to the defence of their mentor on the ITV talent show after he struggled to name the eight members of his boy band Stereo Kicks on the live shows last weekend. Speaking at a special sing-along screening of Disney's 'Frozen' at London's Royal Albert Hall last night (17.11.14), Betsy exclusively told Bang Showbiz: ''He does know our names, whenever he sees us in the corridors he's always shouting our names. X Factor Lauren Platt, Charlie George on "frustrating" romance rumours
The X Factor star Lauren Platt has admitted that she is frustrated by rumours romantically linking her to Only The Young member Charlie George.

Speaking to Digital Spy at the X Factor studios yesterday, Platt insisted she isn't annoyed by the reports but explained that their relationship is strictly platonic.

"It's frustrating, because I personally feel like a girl and a boy can just be friends without things going on," she said. "It's just like me being friends with Fleur except Charlie's a boy, really.

"A lot of my friends back home are boys so to me it doesn't really register in my head sometimes. To other people, obviously a lot of people aren't like that so I can understand why people would think there's something going on. I just think for two of the youngest people in the house, we're handling it a lot more maturely than a lot...

Behold Louis Walsh as a Salem witch for Halloween with Only the Young
Burn the witch! No wait, it's just Louis Walsh in fancy dress for Halloween with his X Factor act Only the Young.

The ITV show judge made a terrifying Salem witch - but could have been a better Worzel Gummidge - wearing a puritanical-style smock splattered in blood, a witch's hat and mini cauldron.

He also accessorised with a crooked plastic nose and broomstick.

Only the Young - made up of hopefuls Mikey Bromley, Charlie George, Parisa Tarjomani and Betsy-Blue English - took Walsh trick or treating and also allowed Betsy-Blue and Parisa to draw all over his face.

You wouldn't want to open the door to that.

Mikey dressed as a banana, Charlie went as a rotten apple and Betsy-Blue was an egg to Parisa's bacon.

The band endured a set back last week as they were one of the bottom two acts of the week and had to...

The group - made up of Parisa Tarjomani, Charlie George, Mikey Bromley and Betsy-Blue English - will try to win over Louis Walsh and Tulisa Contostavlos on tonight's (October 3) show.

Before their performance, Only The Young explain that they still can't believe how far they have made it in the competition.

"To be here now, the final six is ridiculous, we cannot believe we are here. We have to pinch ourselves every second," they admit.

The group are competing against Blonde Electric, The Brooks, Concept and the currently unnamed girl and boy bands for a place in the Top 12.

Viewers can find out how Only The Young, and the other groups, fare on The X Factor tonight at 9pm on ITV.

From the Observer archive, 1 October 1972: some advice for George Best from Elizabeth Taylor
Movie star Elizabeth Taylor reveals that she is fascinated by football – or at least the brightest talent in the British game

Next Saturday, if you find yourself sitting next to a black-haired beautiful woman with violet eyes who's giving Charlie George a volley, don't chat her up. She's married. Her name is Elizabeth Taylor.

She thinks football has poetry and beautiful movements, but feels she is not an authority on it. "I was fascinated and felt rather sorry for George Best when he went through all his traumas. Fame came to him when he was so young. I've seen it happen to so many young people in the film business. The pressure one gets is enormous and I wonder if managers and, indeed, his critics, understand the pressure of the emotional strain he must have been going through.

"It's a hell of a thing for a lad from his background,...
