Helen Millar won the Alan Bates award for most outstanding newcomer after graduating from the Drama Centre. This prestigious award was open to all acting students graduating from the UK's accredited schools, it was judged by Janet Suzman and Richard Wilson, among others. She was nominated for Best Actress for Madam Bovary in Breakfast With Emma.
