Variety reports today that “The Hunting Party” will return for Season 2.

NBC has picked up freshman drama series The Hunting Party, starring Melissa Roxburgh, and Brilliant Minds, headlined by Zachary Quinto, for a second season. Both are part of the network’s September-October fall schedule unveiled today. Brilliant Minds, from Warner Bros. Television and Berlanti Prods, is staying in the post-The Voice Monday 10 Pm slot while The Hunting Party, from Universal Television, is moving to Thursdays 10 Pm.
Besides the five Dick Wolf series, The Hunting Party and Brilliant Minds are the only other current NBC series to make it to next season amid a bloodbath at the broadcast network which canceled a slew of scripted series in anticipation of NBA’s arrival on the schedule next fall.
This is a changing of the guard in NBC’s scripted lineup as all four non-Wolf returning scripted series are from this season’s freshman class, The Hunting Party, Brilliant Minds and comedies St.

J.J. Bailey’s The Hunting Party, whose 10th and final episode drops April 7 on NBC, follows the aftermath of an explosion at The Pit, a top-secret black site prison where the worst serial killers in the United States have been stashed and experimented on for unknown amounts of time.
The explosion sets dozens of killers free, changed in surprising ways by their incarceration but just as deadly. Criminal profiler Rebecca “Bex” Henderson (Melissa Roxburgh) is asked to lead a team to round up the killers, including her former partner Oliver Odell (Nick Wechsler), CIA agent Ryan Hassani (Patrick Sabongui), and Pit prison guard Shane Florence (Josh McKenzie), before all hell literally breaks loose.
At WonderCon, alongside other press members at several roundtable interviews, The Direct’s Jeff Ewing interviewed Roxburgh, McKenzie, Weschler, Sabongui, creator J.J. Bailer, and producer Jake Coburn about the process of designing deplorable killers, character secrets,...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for The Hunting Party Season 1 finale “Jenna Wells.”] The Hunting Party fans are going to need a second season after that wild finale! (The NBC drama has yet to be renewed.) The Season 1 finale ended with Oliver (Nick Wechsler) seemingly dying in Bex’s (Melissa Roxburgh) arms, the reveal that Shane’s (Josh McKenzie) mother is a former inmate, Colonel Lazarus (Kari Matchett), who graduated, Hassani (Patrick Sabongui) shot and hospitalized (and the reveal his wife is dead), and some answers about what was happening in the Pit (some of the inmates were given a drug that served as an empathy modulator). Below, executive producers JJ Bailey and Jake Coburn break down the finale and tease what could be coming in a second season. Is Oliver dead? JJ Bailey: You have to wait until Season 2 to get the answer. What can you say about his fate? Bailey: The moment that...

Bex (Melissa Roxburgh) and Oliver (Nick Wechsler) have a history in The Hunting Party, not just as work partners but also as lovers. Even so, viewers shouldn’t expect romance or rekindled affection between the two, who will supposedly remain professional. Still, considering their history, showrunners JJ Bailey and Jake Coburn shed more light on the dynamic of their relationship; maintaining romance is not essential given the show's setup. During a set visit at which Collider's Samantha Coley was in attendance, Bailey said:
“There's a little more of like a mentor-mentee relationship from the past that we explore sort of crossed some lines that maybe got uncomfortable just before sort of their big blow up, but we sort of found that you know it wasn't a needed romantic relationship where we landed with that."
Before Bex split with the FBI, she worked on a case with Oliver, who, as...

[Warning: The following post contains Major spoilers for The Hunting Party Season 1 Episode 7 “Mark Marsden.”] What exactly was happening in Silo 12?! The latest episode of The Hunting Party saw Bex (Melissa Roxburgh), Oliver (Nick Wechsler), and Hassani (Patrick Sabongui) investigate the silo that was breached before the blast at the Pit. There, they find the aftermath of a massacre (bodies were removed), with blood stains all over a board room of sorts — with a window into a room where the inmates appear to have been taken to be experimented on for others to witness. Meanwhile, Shane (Josh McKenzie) has been pretending to be the son of a Pit scientist, Dr. Dulles (Matt Frewer), to visit him at a senior living facility, only for his real daughter to enter the picture. Below, showrunner Jake Coburn unpacks the Silo 12 mystery and teases how the season ends. Oliver says that he got a call of a breach at Silo 12 before the blast.

NBC’s new series The Hunting Party melds a lot of TV genres into one high-concept hour. A drama about intelligence officers tracking down serial killers who’ve escaped from a secret government prison, it straddles the line between procedural and serialized mystery over the course its 10-episode first season.
“We really connected when we first met over wanting to do a procedural that felt a bit different,” says creator and co-showrunner JJ Bailey, who met fellow showrunner Jake Coburn on a “creative blind date” set up by Universal Television. “We love big serialized mysteries, but we also wanted to do a big week-to-week cases.”
Starring Melissa Roxburgh as an FBI special agent who shares a personal history with many of these criminals, each episode of the first season finds her character track down a different killer — sometimes creeping out the actress in the process. And while the writers have...

NBC's new crime drama series, The Hunting Party, did not have a strong debut with critics. However, after getting lambasted in most reviews, the series drew some praise from audiences.
On Rotten Tomatoes, The Hunting Party initially debuted with a harsh, rare score of 0% on Rotten Tomatoes. That number has since risen to 11%, getting minimal praise from critics as nearly every review is negative. The bright side is that the audience score is vastly different, ranking much higher at 70%. Created by JJ Bailey, who executive produces alongside Jake Coburn, The Hunting Party debuted on Sunday, January 19 and stars Melissa Roxburgh in the lead as Bex, Nick Wechsler, Patrick Sabongui, Sara Garcia, and Josh McKenzie.

NBC is putting viewers on The Hunting Party earlier than expected! Find out when the new thriller now airs!
With the winter break done, it’s time for the networks to get going again with new episodes. That includes the typical midseason series, which means a few new shows will be launched.
The Hunting Party is among them, as NBC had scheduled the new thriller to premiere Monday, Feb. 3, at 10/9c. However, per Deadline, the show will now premiere on Sunday, Jan. 19, at 7/6c on NBC. It’ll then be available to stream on Peacock the next day.
Why has NBC moved up the premiere date of The Hunting Party?
The reason for the change is that Sunday will have NBC airing a highly anticipated NFL divisional playoff game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Los Angeles Rams. That game will start at 3/2c and be followed by the nightly news.

The Hunting Party just dropped its first trailer that hints at the action coming for this new NBC thriller!
Midseason always brings some big new shows with NBC often giving us some crime thrillers. That includes The Hunting Party, which is slipping into a new timeslot on Mondays in February with The Voice as a lead-in. It looks to be a spin on the classic setup of a group of law enforcement agents hunting criminals.
The trailer sets up the premise of “The Pit,” a top-secret underground prison home to the worst criminals and killers on Earth. A massive explosion rips through the facility, allowing scores of the inmates to break free. Former government operative Rebecca “Bex” Henderson is recruited to lead a team to track the fugitives down. NBC has given a series order to “The Hunting Party,” a high-concept crime procedural from JJ Bailey and Jake Coburn, with both serving as executive producers, writers and co-showrunners.
Created by Bailey, who also wrote the pilot script, “The Hunting Party” follows a small team of investigators who work together to track down and capture the most dangerous killers the country has ever seen, all of whom have just escaped from a top-secret prison that’s not supposed to exist.
Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, is the studio behind the series, which isn’t surprising as Bailey has an overall deal there while Coburn has a first-look deal.
The order for “The Hunting Party” comes as NBC has already ordered three other pilots for next season, including “Suits: LA,” an untitled Reba McEntire-led comedy and more recently, a pilot for “Grosse Pointe Garden Society” from Jenna Bans and Bill Krebs.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not watched “Fairytale Wedding,” the Feb. 28 episode of NBC’s “The Endgame.”
NBC’s new high-octane crime drama “The Endgame” aired its second episode Monday, revealing many more compelling details about its leading ladies — Morena Baccarin’s international arms dealer/crime boss Elena Federova and Ryan Michelle Bathé’s FBI agent Val Turner — than it did in its week-ago series premiere.
In the episode, “Fairytale Wedding,” we saw the titular nuptials go up in flames when the church where Elena and her now-husband Sergey Vodianov (Costa Ronin) were to be wed was blown up with everyone they loved inside. This was our first peek into Elena’s life with Sergey, who is currently presumed dead by Val and the rest of the world — but is actually in an upstate New York prison with Val’s husband, Owen (Kamal Bolden).

And if showrunner Tim Minear — who was a writer and executive producer on “Angel” and brought in Gina Torres, a vet of the WB series, as a lead on “Lone Star” at the start of Season 2 — is down for it, an actress from one of Minear’s other beloved series would love to make another reunion happen: “Firefly” star Morena Baccarin.
“Oh, that would be fun! I haven’t seen those guys in forever,” Baccarin told Variety Friday, during an interview for her upcoming NBC drama “The Endgame.” “I love Tim. Yeah, I just got to clear my schedule with these guys,” she said, pointing to her new bosses, “Endgame” co-creators and executive producers Nick Wooton and Jake Coburn.

"Federova's plan is bigger than the banks." NBC has unveiled an official trailer for The Endgame, a new heist thriller series from creators Jake Coburn and Nicholas Wootton. We're breaking our usual no-tv rules to feature this because so many series are being made for streaming these days, and because this is directed by a major movie director - Justin Lin, of Better Luck Tomorrow, Tokyo Drift, Star Trek Beyond, and F9: The Fast Saga most recently. Endgame is high-stakes thriller about Elena Federova, a very recently captured international arms dealer and brilliant criminal mastermind who even in captivity orchestrates a number of coordinated bank heists, and Val Turner, the principled, relentless and socially outcast FBI agent who will stop at nothing to foil her ambitious plan. Morena Baccarin and Ryan Michelle Bathé star as Elena & Val, with Costa Ronin, Kelly AuCoin, Noah Bean, Jordan Johnson-Hinds, Kamal Angelo Bolden, and Mark D. Espinoza.
