- Additional Crew
Mircea Gandila was born in January 1939 in Bucharest, Romania. After
finishing the primary and secondary school at the prestigious
high-school "Gheorge Sincai", he continued his studies at the Law
School, where he graduated in 1971. He never practiced law. His
childhood attraction to cinema was too powerful. Consequently he turned
to cinema and theatre, mainly as a writer but also as a director. The
most prominent achievement is the work for the historical series of
acclaimed director Sergiu Nicolaescu from the '70s, portraying the
image of Bucharest and of the Romanian Society in the eve of WWII and
its aftermath ("Un comisar acuza", "Revansa", "Ultimul Cartus"). In the
'80s he continued to participate in different projects in cooperation
with his dear friend director Virgil Calotescu.
