Every new season of Black Mirror launches a feverish debate over which episode was the best. Emmy voters gave three consecutive Best TV Movie awards to "San Junipero" (2017), "USS Callister" (2018), and "Bandersnatch" (2019), but how does the entire fandom rate the best and worst installments? Season 7 was released in April 2025 and brought the total number of episodes and specials to 34. Created by Charlie Brooker, the sci-fi anthology series began on the U.K.'s Channel 4 in 2011 before moving to Netflix (and becoming a worldwide phenomenon) in 2016. The show took a four-year break after Season 5, thanks in part to the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic, but that just gave people even more time to relive their favorite episodes from the beginning.

Season 7 of Black Mirror dropped April 10 on Netflix after a two-year break. English showrunner Charlie Brooker wrote or cowrote all of the episodes, as usual. He's a five-time Emmy winner for writing and producing "San Junipero" in 2017, writing and producing "USS Callister" in 2018, and producing "Bandersnatch" in 2019. He received a sixth career Emmy nomination last year for writing "Joan Is Awful," but lost to Richard Gadd (Baby Reindeer).

Speaking of "Bandersnatch" and "USS Callister," Season 7 marks the first time Black Mirror has revisited previous storylines in the form of cameo and a sequel, respectively. Will Poulter's computer programmer character Colin Ritman was featured in the interactive "Bandersnatch" and now returns with a small role in "Plaything." Meanwhile, "USS Callister: Into Infinity" is a full-on sequel to the original outer space installment, with Cristin Milioti and Jimmi Simpson reprising their crew members of the titular starship.

Not only did Black Mirror drop a lengthy season seven trailer, but it also released episode titles and plot details. The six-episode season, which includes the much-anticipated sequel to USS Callister, will premiere on April 10, 2025.

Charlie Brooker created the series and once again writes each of the episodes. Season seven directors include David Slade, Ally Pankiw, Toby Haynes, Haolu Wang, and Luke Taylor. Brooker, Jessica Rhoades, and Annabel Jones executive produce.

Commenting on the upcoming season, Brooker told Netflix’s Tudum, “You can expect a mix of genres and styles. […]We’ve got six episodes this time, and two of them are basically feature-length. Some of them are deeply unpleasant, some are quite funny, and some are emotional.”

Nyla Media’s film “American Cherry” fired a first assistant director last month after harassment complaints to the film’s producers on the first week of shooting.

Producer Taryn Arriola, head of production on the romance-thriller, told TheWrap: “We immediately terminated the services of the assistant director and removed him from the production after harassment complaints were filed and reviewed. It was a swift and necessary decision.”

The first assistant director, William Lambe, told TheWrap the accusations were completely false.

“I would never do that. I’ve been a first Ad for 15 years and I would never do that on any set,” he said.
