Billy Zane searches for the cure in Mad Max inspired Blue World Order [Trailer]
From Canberra, Australia, home of the desert Pa flick, comes Blue World Order, an independent sci-fi thriller starring none other than B movie star Billy Zane.

Shot on a budget by co-directors Dallas Bland and Ché Baker, the film is none-the-less ambitious in its scope with sweeping vistas, mutants, lazer guns and monsters galore.

Synopsis:

After a nuclear war decimated the northern hemisphere, the surviving population in the south become desperate and violent competing for scarce resources. Society crumbles and an infectious bacteria threatens to destroy those who remain.

Canberra sci-fi scoops Billy Zane
Hollywood star Billy Zane has been filming in Canberra this month for independent sci-fi action feature, Blue World Order.

The actor, best known for his roles in The Phantom, Titanic and Back to the Future, has been cast as .Master Crane. and will appear alongside cinema great Jack Thompson and the film.s leading man, Jake Ryan.

Directed by Canberra locals Ché Baker and Dallas Bland, Blue World Order follows Jake Slater (Ryan), an ordinary man who accidentally discovers an unknown civilisation called The Order. Believing it may hold the cure for his comatose daughter Molly, he seeks out mad scientist Madcap (Stephen Hunter), only to discover there.s much more at stake than he ever could have predicted.

ScreenACT announces finalists for low-budget feature film initiative
ScreenACT has announced the top ten feature film projects in the running for its Low Budget Feature Pod funding program.

The ten projects were selected from 42 participants who took part in a seven-day workshop run by international script consultant Stephen Cleary. Participants also received feedback from Titan View managing director John L. Simpson (who will distribute the final film), Ronin Films managing director Andrew Pike, Arclight head of production Michael Wrenn, and The Sapphires producer Kylie De Fresne.

The top ten are:
