Doris Brynner, Longtime Head of Dior Home Furnishings, Dies at 93

Dorys Brynner, Dior’s longtime head of home furnishings and friend of many Hollywood legends, has died. She was 93.

Brynner died Saturday in Lausanne, Switzerland, following a short illness, her daughter Victoria confirmed to Women’s Wear Daily.

Brynner was a celebrated friend of many Hollywood and fashion icons, including Karl Lagerfeld, Pierre Bergé, Pierre Cardin, Elizabeth Taylor, Frank Sinatra, Audrey Hepburn, Oscar de la Renta, Lee Radziwill and Alain Delon.

Brynner began work on Dior’s giftware in 1997 when Sidney Toledano, then the brand’s head, hired her on the recommendation of Peter Marino.

“In a few weeks, she changed the whole thing,” Toledano told Wwd. Her designs, including canework patterned glasses and plates with lily of the valley blooms, have since become iconic to the brand.

"I'm going to tell you everything." Mubi has revealed an official trailer for a documentary film titled High & Low - John Galliano, arriving to watch in select US theaters this March. The film originally premiered at the prestigious 2023 Telluride Film Festival last fall, and it also played at the Zurich, Hamburg, London, and Rome Film Festivals last year. From acclaimed filmmaker Kevin Macdonald, the doc examines the rapid ascent, fall from grace, and journey forward for controversial fashion designer John Galliano. In 2011, his career abruptly ended after being caught on video using shocking antisemitic and racist insults. Macdonald's film investigates the multiple facets & contradictions of Galliano's character and context, including decades of industry pressure and drug & alcohol addiction, that surrounded his downfall and recovery. Featuring conversations with: Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, Penelope Cruz, Charlize Theron, Anna Wintour, Edward Enninful, Boris Cyrulnik, Hamish Bowles, and Sidney Toledano, among others.

Lvmh Changes Top Management of Fashion Group: Michael Burke Becomes President and CEO

The French luxury giant Lvmh has announced the appointment of Michael Burke as president and CEO of Lvmh’s Fashion Group, overseeing all of the conglomerate’s fashion houses: Celine, Givenchy, Kenzo, Loewe, Marc Jacobs, Patou, Emilio Pucci and Christian Dior. Burke succeeds Sidney Toledano, who is now appointed personal advisor to CEO Bernard Arnault and leaves the group’s executive committee. The changes will take effect Feb. 1, 2024.

Zayn Malik attended his first big public event in six years!

The 31-year-old One Direction alum and “Pillow Talk” crooner stepped out to attend the Kenzo Menswear Fall/Winter 2024-2025 show during Parish Fashion Week on Friday (January 19) in Paris, France.

This marks the first time that he has attended an event since the Tom Ford Womenswear show in February 2018.

With fashion-themed films and series building momentum on the festival circuit, Kevin Macdonald’s “High & Low — John Galliano” has been sold by Newen Connect in major territories ahead of its premiere at Telluride.

“High & Low — John Galliano,” a documentary portrait of the controversial fashion designer, is produced by Chloe Mamelok and Macdonald through Kgb Films, in association with Condé Nast Entertainment.

Following a sale to Mubi, “High & Low — John Galliano” has been picked up in 10 major markets across Europe and Asia, including Italy (I Wonder Pictures), Scandinavia (Non Stop Entertainment), Spain (Filmin), Switzerland (Pathe Films), Bulgaria (Beta), Australia and New-Zealand (Kismet), Japan (Kinoshita), Hong Kong (Edko), Indonesia (Falcon) and Israel (Lev Films).
