“Morning Joe” co-anchor Joe Scarborough, after getting slammed by fans for meeting with President-elect Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago estate, said the intense criticism he received highlighted the “massive disconnect” between social media and “the real world.”
On Monday, the longtime MSNBC personality — and frequent target of Trump’s wrath — touched off a firestorm after he and his wife, co-host Mika Brzezinski, revealed on the show that they visited him and at his Florida compound last Friday in an effort to “restart communications,” as Brzezinksi put it. “We didn’t see eye-to-eye on a lot of issues and we told him so,” Scarborough said about the Trump pow-wow.

TV’s newest political potboiler is more erudite than “The West Wing” and more intense than “24” — and it’s coming to, of all places, PBS.
In “Deadlock,” an assemblage of government officials, politicos, clergy and media convenes to hash out — in real time — the fallout from a presidential election fraught with threats of misinformation, legal imbroglios and protests. Aaron Tang, a professor at Uc Davis School of Law, guides such notables as Jeh C. Johnson, the former secretary of Homeland Security; Kris Kobach, the attorney general of Kansas; Scott Pelley, the “60 Minutes” correspondent; Dr. Rachel Bitecofer, a political strategist; and Dr. Eddie S. Glaude, Jr., a professor of African American studies at Princeton University through a harrowing Election Night in which every decision they make has the potential to result in dire consequences for U.S. democracy.
“Even I was shocked at the decisions that were ultimately made,...

Alex Wagner was visibly angered Wednesday night while responding to the New York Times report that unveiled texts from former Fox News host Tucker Carlson that many are deeming racist: “It shouldn’t be shocking, but it remains shocking to me,” she said.
The Times report published Wednesday brought to light previously redacted texts from Carlson responding on Jan. 7, 2021 to a video of a group of white men attacking what he called “an Antifa kid,” saying, “It’s not how white men fight.” Speaking with “Alex Wagner Tonight” guests Eddie Glaude Jr., chair of Princeton’s African American studies department, and Jamelle Bouie, co-host of the podcast “Unclear and Present Danger,” later that evening, Wagner denounced the text not just for its content, but for its timing.
“The idea that the day after January 6, when a largely white mob attacks the Capitol, and this man is drawing a line saying,...

MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” offered a closing argument against Roy Moore on Monday when longtime show regular Eddie Glaude Jr. called the Alabama Senate candidate a “bigot” and a pedophile.” “I grew up in Moss Point, Mississippi, we’ve seen this kind of American madness before. We know what this is. We know exactly what it is. We know exactly who Roy Moore is. We’ve seen it. That person has been a part of my landscape since I was a young man,” said Glaude. “He’s a bigot and he’s a bigot who’s running for U.S.

Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski were absent from MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Friday but that didn’t stop the panel from ripping Donald Trump, with a guest comparing the president to Lord Voldemort from the “Harry Potter” series. “Watching President Trump throw Jeff Sessions under the bus, it makes one wonder why anyone on the Hill would align themselves this guy,” Princeton professor Eddie Glaude said. “In some ways it reminds me of an evil character in one of my son’s favorite shows, Voldemort: ‘Only I must live, at the end of the day.’ And that’s the way he seems to.
