Robert Pattinson may have started out his career as the dude from Twilight, but he's since gone on to become a truly terrific actor in his own right who is constantly making interesting choices that seem to be motivated creatively, as opposed to for financial gain. In this case, he's taking part in a sci-fi/thriller that sees him raising a daughter all alone in space in a less than ideal and very tense situation.

We start off with some footage of Robert Pattinson raising his baby daughter in what looks like a rather normal day to day fatherly scenario, save for the fact that he's doing so in space. It's mostly atmospheric, with strange and alluring shots of unwitting astronauts aboard this vessel, seemingly at odds with one another. As things progress, the tension rises and something is clearly not as it should be.

Robert Pattinson has a new sci-fi space thriller coming out called High Life and it actually looks pretty damn good. The movie doesn’t look anything like I expected it to be and that’s a good thing. It looks better, darker, and more insane.

The story centers on Pattinson’s character who is on board a spacecraft that filled with convicts and death row inmates who are being used as guinea pigs in a mission heading towards the black hole closest to Earth. There’s a lot more involved with the story than just that, though. Here’s the full synopsis:

A24 has snapped up North American rights to Claire Denis’ English-language debut High Life starring Pattinson following its world premiere in Tiff.

The distributor plans a 2019 theatrical release for the film about criminals on board an imperilled spaceship that stars Pattinson, Juliette Binoche, Mia Goth and André Benjamin.

Rounding out the cast are Lars Eidinger, Agata Buzek, Claire Tran, Ewan Mitchell, Gloria Obianyo, Scarlett Lindsey, Jessie Ross, and Victor Banerjee. Denis wrote the screenplay with Jean-Pol Fargeau and Geoff Cox

High Life premiered in Gala Presentations and screens again to the public on Thursday and Friday.

Following the international trailer that debuted last month, another trailer has debuted for the upcoming drama Clouds of Sils Maria. Juliette Binoche portrays Maria Enders, an aging actress who is asked to perform in the play that made her a star two decades prior. Instead of playing the young girl Sigrid, she is asked to play the older Helena, with a young starlet (Chloe Moretz) taking over the Sigrid role. Kristen Stewart stars as Helena's assistant, who travels to a remote area known as Sils Maria to help Helena prepare for career defining moment.

Brady Corbet, Johnny Flynn and Claire Tran co-star in writer director Olivier Assayas' upcoming drama from IFC Films, which doesn't have a domestic release date in place at this time.

Universal Pictures has handed out an August 14, 2015 release date for their Untitled Jason Bourne Sequel, a follow-up to last year's The Bourne Legacy. The sequel will be going up against The Smurfs 3 in that date.

Jeremy Renner is reprising his role as Aaron Cross in the action-thriller, with Justin Lin coming on board last month to direct. Anthony Peckham is writing the script based on characters created by novelist Robert Ludlum. No story details have been released at this time, and it isn't known when production may begin.

In related news, the studio has issued an August 8, 2014 release date for Lucy, putting it up against The Hundred-Foot Journey, Into the Storm and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Writer-director Luc Besson's film stars Scarlett Johansson as a young woman who develops into a dangerous assassin after being taken captive. Morgan Freeman and Min-sik Choi co-star in the action project, which is currently in production.
