Funnyman Tom Segura's new comedy series, Bad Thoughts, didn't have the warmest of receptions when it debuted on Netflix in May. While many critics seemingly didn't "get" the humor, Netflix still sees high potential in the future of the show, resulting in a renewal deal anyway.
Per Variety, Bad Thoughts has officially been renewed by Netflix for Season 2. The news follows the series garnering an approval rating of 54% on Rotten Tomatoes, though the audience score was considerably higher at 70%. The show features different vignettes with dark comedy elements, though some critics said that the series often goes too far into shock value territory. Others were particularly fond of Bad Thoughts, however, with one critic claiming that it surpassed the high bar for comedy specials previously set by Bo Burnham.
Officially, Netflix describes Bad Thoughts as a "collection of hilariously disturbing stories that push the boundaries of decency in ways only Tom Segura could imagine.

Tom Segura will be back with more Bad Thoughts. Netflix today announced it has renewed the dark comedy for a second season.
In Bad Thoughts, Segura takes the viewer through a series of vignettes in each episode. The twisted comedic sensibility of his standup is the core DNA of the series, where every story unfolds in a hilariously disturbing way only he could imagine.
“It was such a thrill to get the opportunity to entertain and horrify audiences with our very Bad Thoughts on Netflix,” said Segura. We’re all so excited to push things further with season 2. I promise your family will not approve of what we do.”
Segura serves as creator, director, executive producer and star. Also executive producing are Ryan P. Hall, Molly Mandel, Jeremy Konner, Craig Gerard and Matthew Zinman. Ymh Studios is the studio.

Tom Segura navigates unthinkable situations and fantasies within a cinematic world in his dark and twisted comedy series, Bad Thoughts. Our Alex Maidy had a ball with the first season as he said in his review, “I laughed from the opening short in the first episode and did not stop laughing through the sixth and final episode. My biggest complaint about the series is how short it is, with most episodes barely cracking the half-hour mark. Any sketch-format series is bound to have some duds or unfunny material, but Bad Thoughts is a winner throughout and has the potential to become a perennial hit for Netflix. Whether or not we get a second season, Tom Segura has proven his skills as a writer and filmmaker of cinematic caliber projects.”
Fans of the series can rejoice as more Bad Thoughts are coming after Netflix picked up the show for another season.

Tom Segura has more “Bad Thoughts” to share.
Variety has learned exclusively that Netflix has officially picked up a second season of “Bad Thoughts,” the six-episode dark comedy created by and starring comedian Segura.
The series, which premiered in May, blends cinematic storytelling with Segura’s signature warped sense of humor, taking audiences through a series of unsettling and often outrageous scenarios. Described as a “dark and twisted” exploration of unthinkable fantasies, the show gained a substantial following for its boundary-pushing tone and sharp comedic lens.
The first season cast included Shea Whigham, Dan Stevens, Rachel Bloom and Rob Iler in his first role since “The Sopranos.” Segura’s mother had a visceral reaction when he screened the first few episodes for her, which the streaming giant leaned into for its marketing campaign. “We had her watch a few episodes in a private screening room with hidden cameras,” Segura told Variety in April,...

Review: Tom Segura likes messed-up humor. The comedian and podcaster has made a career by telling relatable yet slightly intrusive jokes. Along with his contemporaries Bill Burr and Bert Kreischer, Tom Segura’s brand of comedy is shockingly honest and shockingly blunt yet delivered in a way that makes you think as hard as you are laughing. Segura also loves the scope and scale of cinema and has channeled that into his new series, Bad Thoughts. A collection of loosely connected short films unified by episodic themes, Bad Thoughts is for fans of ambitious comedic series like Key & Peele, Louie, Better Things, and Dave, but through a twisted lens reminiscent of The Twilight Zone and Black Mirror. Hilarious and deeply disturbing at the same time, Bad Thoughts will have you laughing...

How I Met Your Mother Season 9, Episode 3 ‘Last Time In New York’
Written by Craig Gerard & Matthew Zinman
Directed by Pamela Fryman
Airs Monday nights at 8pm Et on CBS
Like the opening episodes of the season, ‘Last Time In New York’ is at its best when the recurring jokes are put to the side and Ted is sitting at the bar in the hotel lounge. Last week, we watched him watch himself, talking to the Mother about the bitter man wondering when it was going to be his turn – and this week, Lily and Ted share a touching conversation about that bitterness, and how important it is for him to let go.
It’s really a fantastic climatic moment for the episode, succeeding where Mandy Patinkin and old people sex jokes failed with Barney and Robin: in that moment, Ted becomes defined in a way the show had only...
