Vision showrunner Terry Matalas was a guest at this weekend's "Star Trek Las Vegas" convention and dropped a couple of exciting MCU updates during a Q&a with fans.

There have been rumblings for some time about Star Trek: Picard star Todd Stashwick (Starfleet Captain Liam Shaw) playing an assassin tasked with capturing the former Avenger, and Matalas has finally confirmed that he will play Vision's Paladin.

Created by writer Jim Shooter and artist Carmine Infantino, the character first appeared in Daredevil #150, and while he's not strictly a supervillain, his mercenary activities often bring him into conflict with characters like Spider-Man and The Punisher.

The biggest news to come out of Matalas's appearance is that Stashwick's Picard co-star, Orla Brady, will be taking over the role of F.R.I.D.A.Y. (in "human" form) from Kerry Condon. The F1: The Movie star lent her voice to Tony Stark's A.

During an interview with Et, Condon was asked to address the rumors of her returning to the MCU as F.R.I.D.A.Y. for Vision Quest. "It's not true. It's not true. And I saw it, and I was like, 'Who's saying this?' It's not true, no, no, no," she stated. Another artificial intelligence is now confirmed to appear in the untitled Vision series. The upcoming Disney+ series will see the return of E.D.I.T.H. to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Variety has confirmed Daniel Richtman's casting scoop on Schitt's Creek star Emily Hampshire joining the cast of Vision Quest, which is the working title for the miniseries centered around Paul Bettany's fan-favorite android. Hampshire will be playing E.D.I.T.H. in Vision Quest, although it's unclear at this time whether it will be a voice-only role or if she will be embodying the AI as well. E.D.I.T.H. was previously voiced by Dawn Michelle King, an assistant editor on many MCU films, in 2019's Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Introduced in Far From Home, E.D.I.T.H., which stands for "Even Dead, I’m The Hero," was gifted to Peter Parker by the late Tony Stark.

Marvel Studios’ spin-off series about Vision has landed “Schitt’s Creek” star Emily Hampshire as E.D.I.T.H., the Stark Industries artificial intelligence introduced in 2019’s “Spider-Man: Far From Home.” She joins Paul Bettany, who is reprising his role as the now-reincarnated synthezoid character.

In “Far From Home,” E.D.I.T.H. is presented as a gift that Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) bequeaths to Peter Parker (Tom Holland) after Stark sacrifices his life in “Avengers: Endgame.” Peter controls E.D.I.T.H. through a pair of high-tech sunglasses, which he unwittingly gives to the film’s villain, Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal), before retrieving them at the end of the movie. The glasses are confiscated after Peter’s identity as Spider-Man is revealed to world, and E.D.I.T.H.’s ultimate fate is left unresolved.

Marvel's upcoming Vision Quest series is expanding its cast. Deadline reports that Emily Hampshire, best known for her work in Schitt's Creek, will play E.D.I.T.H. in the show. The role was most recently played by Dawn Michelle King, who voiced the character in Spider-Man: Far From Home, the 2019 Spider-Man flick led by Tom Holland. E.D.I.T.H., otherwise known as Even Dead I’m The Hero, is one of many AI creators from the late Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr), so it stands to reason that she’ll have a role to play in Vision Quest. It’s unclear at this time what role E.D.I.T.H. will have in the show, but given the unprecedented access she allows the user to Starks’ Global Security Network, we can only hope she doesn’t fall into the wrong hands.

Schitt’s Creek alumna Emily Hampshire is set for a key role in Marvel’s Vision series for Disney+ opposite Paul Bettany who is reprising his titular MCU character in the WandaVision spinoff, sources tell Deadline.

Hampshire is believed to be playing the sophisticated artificial intelligence E.D.I.T.H., Tony Stark’s augmented reality security and defense system. In the MCU, E.D.I.T.H. was originally created by Stark and bequeathed to Peter Parker following Stark’s death. It provides access to Stark Industries’ global satellite network along with an arsenal of missiles and drones.

A rep for Marvel declined comment.

Vision‘s cast also includes James Spader, who reprises his MCU role as Ultron, T’Nia Miller as Jocasta, Todd Stashwick and Ruaridh Mollica. Additionally, Faran Tahir is reprising his MCU role of Raza.

This is the second WandaVision spinoff, following Agatha All Along.

Vision Quest is the second spinoff series of WandaVision after Agatha All Along and it's going to be a tall task to try and match those critically-acclaimed standards, but the Marvel Television series is going to try. With a 2026 release, the new Disney Plus series will feature Emmy nominee Paul Bettany reprising his role as as Vision/White Vision and 3x Emmy winner James Spader will also reprise his Avengers: Age of Ultron role as Ultron.

Written and illustrated by John Byrne, the "Vision Quest" storyline in Marvel Comics took place in issues No. 42-45 of West Coast Avengers. This 1989 comic focused on the government dismantling of Vision because of concerns of his ability to control global computer systems. Last week, a fan claimed that he managed to sneak onto the set of Avengers: Doomsday, and was able to share some of the footage he filmed online before it was removed from the various social media sites.

The brief clips didn't feature anything particularly revealing, but did seem to confirm that we'll be paying a visit to Madripoor - the fictional Southeast Asian island commonly associated with Wolverine and the X-Men - at some point in the movie.

However, reports would later cast doubt on this anonymous set spy's claims, and we may now know why.

According to Daniel Richtman, Madrippor will feature in the Disney+ Vision series, and not Avengers: Doomsday. If this is accurate, it seems likely that this leaker actually made his way on to the set of the WandaVision spin-off.

The WandaVision sequel series Vision Quest has received several new casting rumors, which make the series sound similar to a recent Iron Man comic book storyline. Vision Quest follows White Vision, the revived version of the former Avenger hero who flew away at the end of the first MCU Disney+ series to find his place in the world. Paul Bettany returns as Vision and isn't the only robot returning for the upcoming series. 

Entertainment insider Daniel Richtman has introduced several casting rumors for Vision Quest. He has reported that Emily Hampshire signed on to portray the Tony Stark AI from Spider-Man: Far From Home, Edith, in human form. He also reported that Kerry Condon signed on to star as the human form of Friday, Tony Stark's AI in the MCU films. 

Earlier casting rumors revealed that James Spader is also coming back as Ultron, despite seemingly dying in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

After WandaVision, Paul Bettany will return for the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe series Vision Quest. Among his co-stars is Star Trek: Picard actor Todd Stashwick.

When Stashwick's casting was first announced, it was reported that he'd be playing an "assassin who is on the trail of the android and the technology he possesses." A character name was not disclosed, leaving it unclear if he'd be playing an existing character from Marvel lore, or an original role created for the show. However, a new report by film industry insider Daniel Richtman claims that Stashwick will be playing the character Paladin. No other details were disclosed, though the name would suggest that Stashwick will indeed play an MCU incarnation of a Marvel Comics character.

As Marvel Studios' Vision series - which may or may not turn out to be titled "Vision Quest" - continues to round out its cast, we have a very interesting update relating to Tony Stark's former AI assistant.

According to Daniel Richtman, Kerry Condon will appear as F.R.I.D.A.Y. in human form. This isn't the first time the Academy Award-nominated The Banshees of Inisherin star has been mentioned in connection with the Vision show, but we weren't sure if she'd actually appear in live-action or simply add her voice to the character.

Condon voiced Tony's second AI after J.A.R.V.I.S. (Paul Bettany) was transformed into Vision. We have also heard that James D'Arcy will return as Edwin Jarvis in some capacity.

Namely, according to our source, Emily Hampshire has been cast as the human form of E.D.I.T.H. and she will appear in the series, taking over the role from Dawn Michelle King, who voiced E.D.I.T.H. in Far From Home.

Now, Deadline reports that Miller has landed a major role in the Marvel’s Disney+ series that is either called Vision or Vision Quest.
