The story focuses on a group of White House officials who have to act fast when the U.S. faces an incoming missile attack.

The movie has a big cast, including Idris Elba, Rebecca Ferguson, Gabriel Basso, Jared Harris, Tracy Letts, Anthony Ramos, Moses Ingram, Greta Lee, Jason Clarke, and several others.

Recently, the first look of Rebecca Ferguson in the film was revealed by La Biennale di Venezia on X. She plays a government agent named Olivia Walker, seen working urgently in a command center with maps and data flashing behind her.

The film is set to premiere at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival on September 2, where it will compete for the Golden Lion award.

Netflix has hooked viewers again with the return of The Night Agent, an action-packed thriller that dropped its second season earlier this year. After a long wait, fans were eager for more, and this time, the story dives even deeper.

What Happens in The Night Agent Season 2

The series, adapted from the novel, centers on Peter Sutherland, a low-level FBI agent played by Gabriel Basso, and Luciane Buchanan’s character Rose Larkin. What starts as a strange phone call soon pushes them deep into a political conspiracy with ties right up to the White House. Season one saw them piece together who killed Rose’s family while also uncovering the truth behind a deadly attack on Washington’s metro system.

Now, the second chapter picks up with Peter going off the grid after a mission falls apart, while Rose tries to track him down.

The John Wick and Matrix star had been repped by Meredith Wechter at Range Media Partners. Insiders say Reeves has made multiple changes to how he runs his business and changing management was one of those decisions recently.

“Keanu is not only an exceptional talent but a one of a kind human being. I wish him well and I am so proud of the incredibly transformative work we have done together over the past nine years,” Wechter says.

Wechter joined Range this year from Michael Sugar’s management company Sugar23 and had previously been an agent at ICM and then WME. The managing partner’s client list at Range includes Josh Gad, Jeremy Strong, Diane Lane and Night Agent star Gabriel Basso, among many others.

Laysla De Oliveira is slated to co-star in upcoming rodeo flick Cowboy, the directorial debut feature film from Cameron Duddy, bass player for country band Midland, The Hollywood Reporter can reveal.

De Oliveira (Lioness, Locke & Key, Guest of Honour) joins a cast that had already included Ben Foster, Rudy Pankow, Gabriel Basso, Midland lead singer Mark Wystrach and retired NFL veteran Taylor Lewan.

Cowboy follows the story of Foster’s Lee “Babe” Midnight, described as a “washed-up rodeo legend drifting between small-time shows and shady deals” who ends up becoming a mentor to Pankow’s young aspiring rodeo rider Clif Casey. De Oliveira will play Alejandra, Lee’s ex-girlfriend and mother to an 11-month-old son.

Other than De Oliveira, Cowboy also adds Simon Rex (Red Rocket), Carlos Pratts (Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, McFarland, USA) and Cameron Sault in supporting roles, the latter of whom is making his acting debut.

Netflix has been on an action movie hot streak lately, with the streamer all set to continue the trend by teaming up with the Academy Award-winning director behind The Hurt Locker, Kathryn Bigelow. Not only that, action outing, which has been described as “a harrowing ticking-clock thriller,” will also see The Suicide Squad star Idris Elba join forces with one of Netflix’s best new action heroes.

Kathryn Bigelow already has two Academy Awards to her name, and she will be back for a buzzy awards run later this year. After making her directorial debut with the biker movie The Loveless (1981), Bigelow made a name for herself directing thrillers, such as Near Dark (1987), Blue Steel (1990), Point Break (1991), Strange Days (1995), and K-19: The Widowmaker (2002).

She gained critical acclaim for The Hurt Locker (2008), about a bomb squad in Iraq, and Bigelow became the first woman to win the Academy Award for Best Director, with the war movie also winning Best Picture. She followed that up with the political thriller Zero Dark Thirty (2012), about the manhunt for Osama bin Laden, and earned another Oscar nomination for Best Picture.

However, her last movie was the crime drama Detroit (2017), but now, the first look at Bigelow's first film in eight years has been revealed.

A House Of Dynamite's First Image Revealed...

Alberto Barbera presided over a lengthy press conference Tuesday morning, when he announced the stacked lineup for this year’s Venice Film Festival, which runs August 27-September 6.

The lineup is expansive, with big names and arthouse darlings sprinkled across the festival’s strands, even including the shorts program.

High-profile titles include Luca Guadagnino’s After the Hunt, starring Julia Roberts, Ayo Edebiri, Andrew Garfield, Michael Stuhlbarg and Chloë Sevigny. Roberts leads the cast as a college professor who finds herself at a personal and professional crossroads when a star student (Edebiri) levels an accusation against one of her colleagues (Garfield), and a dark secret from her own past threatens to come into the light. Hotly anticipated new works from Kathryn Bigelow, Guillermo Del Toro, Noah Baumbach, Mona Fastvold, Luca Guadagnino, Yorgos Lanthimos, Olivier Assayas, Park Chan-wook, Benny Safdie and more are set for Lido launches, making for a cornucopia of cinematic offerings.

As anticipated by Variety, big-name films premiering at Venice include Safdie’s “The Smashing Machine” from A24, featuring Dwayne Johnson as two-time UFC heavyweight champ Mark Kerr and Emily Blunt as his wife Dawn; Focus Features’ “Bugonia,” the latest collaboration between Yorgos Lanthimos and Emma Stone, who were last at the fest in 2023 with the Oscar-winning “Poor Things”; and Luca Guadagnino’s psychological drama “After the Hunt” starring Julia Roberts, Andrew Garfield and Ayo Edebiri.

It's been a while since we had an update to share about The Night Agent season 3 as the upcoming season remained in production for much of the year, but we finally have some news directly from the creator himself. Peter Sutherland's next mission just got one step closer to hitting our screens as the third season officially hit the filming milestone that fans have been waiting for.

On July 14, The Night Agent creator Shawn Ryan revealed on social media that season has "officially wrapped production." Filming on the forthcoming third season began back in February 2025 before season 2 had even been released on Netflix. Because the shoot took the cast and crew to so many different locations, filming lasted through half of the year, but it's finally completed.

The Night Agent's Gabriel Basso is saddling up for a role in a new Western drama. He'll star in Cowboy, a movie centering around the lives of a group of rodeo performers. Ben Foster (Hell or High Water) and Rudy Pankow (Outer Banks) are also set to star in the film. Deadline reports that Cowboy has begun production.

The film will be the directorial debut of Cameron Duddy, a member of the country group Midland. Duddy also wrote the film's script with bandmate Jess Carson; Midland's third member, Mark Wystrach (The Eyes of Tammy Faye), will co-star in the film alongside Basso, Foster, Pankow, and retired Tennessee Titans tackle Taylor Lewan. The film will focus on a troupe of traveling rodeo performers, who seek fame amidst the drudgery of life on the road and the dangerous, punishing sport in the arena. Says Duddy, "This is a personal story for me.

The movie, now in production, marks the first project from Paint Horse Pictures, a new banner from Range’s Nashville division.

Cameron Duddy, bassist of the Grammy-nominated country band Midland and a top video director, is set to become a feature-film director, and two of his bandmates are on board as well.

Duddy will direct “Cowboy,” which stars Ben Foster (“Hell or High Water”), Gabriel Basso (“The Night Agent”) and Rudy Pankow, and follows a traveling rodeo and the group of entertainers within it as they deal with the harsh realities of their chosen careers. The film’s script was written by Adair Cole, based on a story from Duddy and fellow Midland member Jess Carson, and also features the band’s Mark Wystrach in an acting role.

“This is a personal story for me,” Duddy said in a statement. “It’s a film about what it takes to grind it out on the road chasing your dreams, and the emotional and physical toll it takes on all of us.”

Lionsgate UK has launched the first trailer and new artwork for The Strangers – Chapter 2, promising a relentless continuation of the home invasion saga when it arrives in cinemas on 26 September 2025. Directed by Renny Harlin and penned by Alan R. Anthony Ramos was offered starring roles in Hollywood right off the bat after he proved his acting chops in his Broadway debut, Hamilton. He played Usnavi de la Vega in both the theater and movie versions of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s In the Heights. After playing the good guy in his movies and TV shows, Ramos is embracing villainhood in the new Disney+ series from Marvel Studios, Ironheart. In the show, he plays Parker Robbins/The Hood, who hires Dominique Thorne’s Riri Williams for a series of heists. Following his Marvel debut, Ramos has several projects lined up, including a sequel to one of his earlier voice roles.

Director Renny Harlin shot an entire trilogy of Strangers movies at the same time, and while there was a point when it looked like Lionsgate might be releasing all three of the movies within 2024, that idea was clearly pushed aside.
