When J.J. Abrams wrote and directed this film, Steven Spielberg saw an opportunity he couldn’t refuse. “Super 8” is a modern-day re-telling of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982) without the tale of friendship between the boy and his alien friend. Set almost 30 years apart, both films have their own problems to deal with. The modern-day “E.T. home phone” would’ve not worked had it not been for the complexity of the retelling. The film is era and politics-appropriate.
Even though the film is based around the late 1970s, the Soviet threat always loomed large for the USA. The biggest imagined opposition that the USA always had was the Soviets. This trend did not die down with the collapse of the Soviet Union.
Part of being a democratic process or slight transgressions towards autocratic democracy, there’s always the need for the threat of an invisible enemy. This political anxiety...

A Still From The Night Agent(Photo Credit –Netflix)
Netflix has hooked viewers again with the return of The Night Agent, an action-packed thriller that dropped its second season earlier this year. After a long wait, fans were eager for more, and this time, the story dives even deeper.
What Happens in The Night Agent Season 2
The series, adapted from the novel, centers on Peter Sutherland, a low-level FBI agent played by Gabriel Basso, and Luciane Buchanan’s character Rose Larkin. What starts as a strange phone call soon pushes them deep into a political conspiracy with ties right up to the White House. Season one saw them piece together who killed Rose’s family while also uncovering the truth behind a deadly attack on Washington’s metro system.
Now, the second chapter picks up with Peter going off the grid after a mission falls apart, while Rose tries to track him down.

Director Renny Harlin shot an entire trilogy of Strangers movies at the same time, and while there was a point when it looked like Lionsgate might be releasing all three of the movies within 2024, that idea was clearly pushed aside. The Strangers: Chapter 1 (read our review Here) reached theatres back in May of 2024, and The Strangers: Chapter 2 won’t be reaching theatres until September 26, 2025. A teaser trailer for Chapter 2 dropped online eight months ago, with the full trailer (embedded above) following a couple of weeks ago. This film was promoted with a panel at the San Diego Comic-Con last Thursday – and during that panel, Harlin revealed that the audience reaction to Chapter 1 inspired him to go back for some additional photography on the sequels (he didn’t want to call them reshoots) to drop in some more information about the villains.

Steven Spielberg is an award-winning director with many iconic films that changed the industry. However, as iconic as his films were, Spielberg has also been a part of many films from behind the scenes as a producer.

Keanu Reeves has parted ways with his longtime manager, multiple sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.
The John Wick and Matrix star had been repped by Meredith Wechter at Range Media Partners. Insiders say Reeves has made multiple changes to how he runs his business and changing management was one of those decisions recently.
“Keanu is not only an exceptional talent but a one of a kind human being. I wish him well and I am so proud of the incredibly transformative work we have done together over the past nine years,” Wechter says.
Wechter joined Range this year from Michael Sugar’s management company Sugar23 and had previously been an agent at ICM and then WME. The managing partner’s client list at Range includes Josh Gad, Jeremy Strong, Diane Lane and Night Agent star Gabriel Basso, among many others.

Kathryn Bigelow already has two Academy Awards to her name, and she will be back for a buzzy awards run later this year. After making her directorial debut with the biker movie The Loveless (1981), Bigelow made a name for herself directing thrillers, such as Near Dark (1987), Blue Steel (1990), Point Break (1991), Strange Days (1995), and K-19: The Widowmaker (2002).
She gained critical acclaim for The Hurt Locker (2008), about a bomb squad in Iraq, and Bigelow became the first woman to win the Academy Award for Best Director, with the war movie also winning Best Picture. She followed that up with the political thriller Zero Dark Thirty (2012), about the manhunt for Osama bin Laden, and earned another Oscar nomination for Best Picture.
However, her last movie was the crime drama Detroit (2017), but now, the first look at Bigelow's first film in eight years has been revealed.

In the past two years, Kiefer Sutherland has gotten the chance to work with two legendary directors at the tail end of their careers. 2023 saw him collaborate with late Exorcist helmer William Friedkin on what would be his final film, The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial, in the role of the unstable Lieutenant Commander Queeg. After that, he'd then be picked by Clint Eastwood for a smaller role in his 2024 legal thriller, Juror #2, starring Nicholas Hoult. Though not completely confirmed to be Eastwood's final project, at 95 years old, he's unlikely to have many more turns in the director's chair. The prospect that the Million Dollar Baby Oscar winner might retire, however, was what drove Sutherland to pursue what could be his last opportunity to work with one of his idols with a letter and a bit of gratitude.

While the series is doing very well among fans, FandomWire asked the director about what else is on the horizon for him. He revealed that he is working on a quite big project with the creators of The Night Agent, and it could give Netflix a run for its money.

It's been a while since we had an update to share about The Night Agent season 3 as the upcoming season remained in production for much of the year, but we finally have some news directly from the creator himself. Peter Sutherland's next mission just got one step closer to hitting our screens as the third season officially hit the filming milestone that fans have been waiting for.
On July 14, The Night Agent creator Shawn Ryan revealed on social media that season has "officially wrapped production." Filming on the forthcoming third season began back in February 2025 before season 2 had even been released on Netflix. Because the shoot took the cast and crew to so many different locations, filming lasted through half of the year, but it's finally completed.

Lionsgate UK has launched the first trailer and new artwork for The Strangers – Chapter 2, promising a relentless continuation of the home invasion saga when it arrives in cinemas on 26 September 2025. Directed by Renny Harlin and penned by Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland from Bryan Bertino’s original characters, this second instalment picks up immediately after the harrowing events of Chapter 1, following sole survivor Maya Lucas as she tries to piece her life back together.
The trailer opens on Maya (Madelaine Petsch) lying in a sterile hospital room, the flicker of fluorescent lights casting long shadows across her bandaged form. A tension-steeped score builds as she steps out into a deserted suburban street, every distant creak and echo suggesting that the masked assailants are never far behind. Brief cuts show Gabriel Basso’s Gregory tracking eerie footprints in mud, while Ema Horvath’s Shelly returns to the scene of that fateful night,...

Legendary filmmaker Clint Eastwood has delighted moviegoers since he gained recognition with the role of Rowdy Yates on the Western series Rawhide, which aired between 1959 and 1965 on CBS. After the show ended its eight-season run, Eastwood started taking more roles outside of the U.S., and gained international fame with his role as the "Man with No Name" in Sergio Leone's Dollars Trilogy.
However, being an actor wasn't enough, and soon, Eastwood started getting behind the camera, as well. Throughout the '70s, Eastwood was an extremely desired actor and director, and had major success with titles like High Plains Drifter, Joe Kidd, The Outlaw Josey Wales, and more. Clint Eastwood's first project in the Western genre in almost a decade, Pale Rider, is now heading to streaming for free on Tubi on July 2, just a few days after the film's 40th anniversary.

Madelaine Petsch returns in The Strangers: Chapter 2, and this time, the terror follows her into a hospital. After surviving a brutal attack in the first film, her character, Maya, finds no safety in what should be a place of healing. The film is set to hit theaters on September 26, 2025. It continues right after the events of the first chapter and is part of a trilogy directed by Renny Harlin. Madelaine Petsch is back as Maya in The Strangers: Chapter 2, and this time, the horror follows her straight to the hospital. Even though she survived the terrifying events of the first movie, it’s clear from the new trailer that she’s not safe yet. The masked killers haven’t finished what they started.
The movie hits theaters on September 26, 2025, and it picks up right after the first chapter. Maya, still shaken from the brutal cabin attack, ends up in a hospital, but instead of finding peace, she’s dragged into more terror.
Fans of old-school slashers might notice the similarity to Halloween II, where Laurie Strode found herself hunted again in a hospital. Same kind of energy here.

Riverdale star Madelaine Petsch isn't free from the strangers just yet. After surviving a stab wound to the stomach in The Strangers: Chapter 1, Petsch's Maya isn't in the clear yet in the first trailer for the horror sequel The Strangers – Chapter 2.
Picking up directly where the first chapter ended, the official trailer for Chapter 2 finds Maya in the hospital recovering from her wounds. Unfortunately for her, the local law enforcement has loose lips, telling a diner full of customers and staff that she survived the strangers' assault, although her boyfriend wasn't so lucky. This leads to a chilling scene where the strangers arrive at the hospital to finish the job. The trailer then shows Maya in a vehicle with four other people, one of whom is played by The Night Agent star Gabriel Basso. Riverdale alum Madelaine Petsch returns as final girl Maya on the run again from masked pursuers in the trailer of The Strangers: Chapter 2, which dropped on Tuesday.
The second slasher horror pic in The Strangers trilogy from director Renny Harlin sees Maya once again play a cat-and-mouse game with an evil trio, the Man in the Mask, Dollface and Pin-Up Girl. After she wakes in a hospital, a gun-toting and often screaming Maya in the sequel finds herself fighting for survival against axe and knife-wielding killers out to be rid of their final victim.
A logline from the film’s producers reads: “The Strangers are back – more brutal and relentless than ever. "Who are they? Why are they doing this?" "Does there have to be a why...?" Lionsgate has revealed the full official trailer for the next sequel in the current The Strangers horror trilogy, all three of them directed by Finnish filmmaker Renny Harlin. The Strangers - Chapter 2 is "the chilling next chapter of The Strangers franchise" which began (as a complete restart) in the summer of 2024 earlier this year with The Strangers - Chapter 1 (trailer here). It's not really a prequel or a sequel, it's a re-imagining of this masked killers horror franchise. The Strangers are back – more brutal and relentless than ever. When they learn that one of their victims, Maya, is still alive, they return to finish what they’ve started. With nowhere to run and no one to trust, Maya must survive yet another horrific chapter of terror as the trio of The Strangers – driven by a senseless,...

A teaser trailer for Chapter 2 dropped online eight months ago, and now a full trailer has finally been unveiled. Check it out in the embed above!
