The Hideaway Entertainment & Fictionz Partner On ‘Blue Is For Nightmares’ Podcast, Will Also Develop YA Book Series For TV

Exclusive: The Hideaway Entertainment and Fictionz have partnered to launch the podcast series Blue Is for Nightmares, based on Laurie Faria Stolarz’s bestselling YA witchcraft book series, and will also develop the books for TV.

Each of of the books in Stolarz’s series—White is for Magic, Silver is for Secrets, Red is for Remembrance and Black is for Beginnings—follow the adventures of Stacey Brown, a young witch with psychic powers. In the Blue is for Nightmares podcast, Stacey (Meghan Rienks) has terrifying nightmares that come true, and uses the magic handed down from previous generations to investigate murders and other crimes and disappearances, all while dealing with the drama of being a teen at a prestigious boarding school. ‘Lost In Space’ Star Mina Sundwall, ‘Love, Victor’s Michael Cimino To Lead Fictionz Podcast Series ‘Jane Anonymous’

Exclusive: Mina Sundwall (Lost in Space) and Michael Cimino have been set to lead the thriller podcast series Jane Anonymous, which will premiere exclusively on Apple Podcasts and the Fictionz App.

The series based on the novel of the same name by Laurie Faria Stolarz (Blue is for Nightmares) was adapted by Stephanie Wu (Green Plastic Sandals). It will follow Jane (Sundwall), a 18-year-old girl who fights to escape a kidnapper—examining her relationship with a fellow captive (Cimino), and their struggle to understand that everything they thought they knew might all be a lie.

Andres Rosende, who produces and edits the popular Bad Friends podcast from comedians Bobby Lee and Andrew Santino, is directing the series, which will consist of five, 20-minute episodes. The first is slated for release on June 2nd. Sundwall and Cimino are exec producing alongside Fictionz, which is serving as the project’s financier and distributor.

Will Patton, Alicia Sanz & Adan Canto Set As Leads In Brad Parker’s Horror Film From 1inMM Productions

Exclusive: Will Patton, Alicia Sanz, and Adan Canto, and Zach Avery have been tapped to star in a yet-to-be-titled horror film which will shoot in Kentucky next month. Brad Parker (Chernobyl Diaries) is directing the film from a script by Eric Scherbarth and Stefan Jaworski. Julio and Diego Hallivis are producing and financing the pic via 1inMM Productions.

The plot centers on a geological expedition to an Appalachian sinkhole that becomes a terrifying fight for survival against a mysterious deadly force.

Jaworski and Chinaza Uchi round out the cast. Alejandro De Leon and Andres Rosende are also producing the project with Jared Ian Goldman as an executive producer.

Sanz was seen in the Steven Soderbergh-executive produced sci-fi thriller Perfect, which debuted at SXSW, and co-stars in James Cox’s upcoming film Billionaire Boys Club. Canto currently stars ABC’s opposite Kiefer Sutherland in ABC’s Designated Survivor while Avery...

2010 Coney Island Film Festival: Official Lineup
Has it been a decade of films and freaks already? Well, it has! The 10th annual Coney Island Film Festival is set to run once again on Sept. 24-26 at the world famous Sideshows by the Seashore — the last operating circus-style sideshow/freak show in the U.S.A.

The festival starts with real bang this year with the Brooklyn premiere of Gary Beeber‘s latest documentary Dirty Martini and the New Burlesque, which chronicles the rise of the hot new burlesque trend in NYC and its most popular star, Dirty Martini. The film will also be preceded by two short films: The recently uncovered Museum of Wax by playwright Charles Ludlam and Jaye Cherian’s documentary Shape of the Shapeless.

SXSW Film 2010 Announces Shorts, Panels
The South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Conference and Festival (March 12 - March 16, 2010) has announced the short film program and the list of panel participants. Michel Gondry, David Gordon Green, Jody Hill, Danny McBride, Ruben Fleischer, Matt Reeves, Eli Roth, Quentin Tarantino, and Ti West are among the people scheduled to participate.
