The feature, which has Colin Tilley attached to direct with a screenplay by John Wick architect Derek Kolstad, takes place over the course of one scorching night. Red White & Blue (2010) Film Review, a movie directed by Simon Rumley and starring Amanda Fuller, Noah Taylor, Marc Senter, Lauren Schneider, and Jon Michael Davis.
Most crime dramas culminate in singular, grand event whose architecture has been led out and led up to throughout the former two acts of the film. Red White & Blue is no different expect it isn’t one big, finale act that occurs in the film but small, no less significant micro-incidents instead. The old Aristotle adage: “The whole is greater than the sum of its parts” is not true of this film or its finale.
Red White & Blue’s highest, most dark point comes after one of the main protagonists, Erica (Amanda Fuller), is abducted. The second main protagonist, Nate (Noah Taylor), soon realizes that an abduction has taken place and initiates a streak of search, “enhanced interrogation”, and revenge even more vile and heinous...

The Los Angeles Film Festival has announced the world premiere of Richard Linklater's Bernie as the opening night film for the 2011 festival.
The film will kick off the festival on June 16 at Regal Cinemas Stadium 14 at L.A. Live. It is written by Skip Hollandsworth and director Linklater and stars Jack Black, Shirley MacLaine, and Matthew McConaughey.
The film follows a beloved mortician (Black) from a small Texas town, even winning over the town's richest, meanest widow (MacLaine). Even after Bernie commits a horrible crime, people still will not utter a bad word against him.
"We're thrilled to be opening the Festival with the world premiere of this delicious black comedy - a treat from one of the most original and exciting voices in independent film, Richard Linklater," said Festival director Rebecca Yeldham. "With its fabulous all-star cast, Bernie is a perfect stage setter for the incredible line-up of...

Chicago – There are few modern horror films that possess the power to shock an audience into a state of dazed, mouth-gaping awe. Audiences of increasingly young ages are well-accustomed to copious amounts of blood and gore. The excess of violence quickly and irrevocably numbs the senses. That may be why Simon Rumley’s “Red White & Blue” works so well. It plays on the mind rather than the gag reflex.
After his gritty, intimate “youth culture trilogy,” Rumley took a sharp turn into the horror genre without sacrificing his character-driven narratives and meticulous attention to dramatic nuances. “Red White & Blue” explores many of the same themes explored in Rumley’s earlier work—mental instability, fear of disease, vengeance. For its first half, the film shows no signs of the horrors to follow. It merely plays like an brooding drama, following various wounded souls linked by their desire to inflict pain on...

Chicago – The scariest aspects of a Simon Rumley picture aren’t in the form of ominous monsters or buckets of blood. They are instead hidden within the corners of a tormented human psyche. It’s the impulse for destruction that haunts every one of his characters in “Red White & Blue,” a deeply unsettling drama that transforms into a galvanizing horror film during its final act.
The lives of a mysterious outcast, Erica (Amanda Fuller), an aspiring rock star, Franki (Marc Senter) and a war veteran, Nate (Noah Taylor), intertwine in ways both shocking and unexpected. The Austin-set indie is the first feature made by the British filmmaker in America, who made a big splash at the 2006 Fantastic Fest with his harrowing thriller, “The Living and the Dead,” about a disturbed man caring for his sick mother. Rumley’s latest effort was “Bitch,” one of three shorts in the horror anthology “Little Deaths,...

While it can be debated if Red White & Blue is a true horror film or not, the film does create a feeling of oppression and dread with its opening scenes. You know something awful will happen, as the characters are too emotionally damaged for things not to turn ugly. But when the film get reaches that point, you might be lulled into such a state of uncaring that the film's kick to the crotch falls short.
The story begins with Erica (Amanda Fuller), who spends her days cleaning a boarding house to pay rent. At night, she is busy picking up men (sometimes more than one) for anonymous sex. She doesn't use a condom (telling one of her pickups they are "for fags...

We may have caught a completely nude bathtime Amy Smart in Alexandre Aja's original 'Mirrors', but there was little time for enjoyment as her twisted reflection forced her to tear her own jaw off (Aka the stiffy killer). Now it seems we get to see more boobage in Victor Garcia's direct to DVD follow-up 'Mirrors 2'. The sexy Christy Carlson Romano strips off and looks to be yet another victim to more horrific mirror-esque events this time in her shower. Nick Stahl, William Katt, Emmanuelle Vaugier, Lawrence Turner, Stephanie Honore and Jon Michael Davis all join Romano and her ample assets. Check out the goddamn sweet clip below and be warned that the clip does contain full female nudity, or 'boobs and bum' for the more immature of us. Clip courtesy of Egotastic. Chicago – “Red White & Blue” is a deviously effective horror film precisely because it doesn’t appear to be one. There are subtle stylistic hints here and there, but nothing that truly signals the horrors to come. They emerge not from left field, but out of the character’s own pent up rage, and their increasing desire to inflict pain upon the world that has failed them.
Rating: 3.0/5.0
It’s sort of refreshing to see a film that shocks the senses, particularly at a time when most moviegoers have become desensitized to even the most extreme acts of violence. Many potentially disturbing pictures are layered in enough camp to make the audience feel safely detached from the material. “The Human Centipede” has a spectacularly unsettling premise, but its execution was broad and more than a little silly. For midnight movie junkies, the film may be categorized as “fun.” Yet there is...

Mirrors 2 Concept PosterThe plotline for Mirrors 2 is almost identical to the first with a nightwatchman guarding the remains of the Mayflower Department Store. Thankfully, some subplots have been introduced, as this latest watchman, played by Nick Stahl (Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines), is attempting to recover from a tragic accident, which left his wife dead, by returning to the work force (Uhm). Except, a haunted department store is not a great place for recovery. This sequel will to straight to DVD October 19th, 2010 and this latest in the series was directed by Victor Garcia (Return to House on Haunted Hill). Have a watch of the first trailer for Mirrors 2, courtesy of Dread Central.

It's a chilly December evening in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and this Shock writer is doing his best to both keep warm and out of the way by hiding out in video village, the station of monitors that's set up for the director to watch footage as it's being shot. The location itself is unique enough, especially for a horror movie. We're upstairs in one of the apartment complexes of Boundreaux & Thibodeaux, a building that on normal nights doubles as both a live music venue and a bar (or at least the first two floors do). Had the bar been open, I might've indulged in a shot or two to keep warm, but instead, I'm keeping quiet sitting behind filmmaker Victor Garcia ( Return to House on Haunted Hill ) as he watches actor Jon Michael Davis slowly pace through his kitchen and into his...

Yah, you heard us right! We said “Mirrors 2″. As in, a sequel to the Keifer Sutherland horror movie “Mirrors” directed by Alexandre Aja that came out in 2008 and squatted a big fat goose egg. The lack of a box office punch ain’t gonna stop the powers that be, though....
Mirrors 2 will be a direct to DVD sequel to 2008’s Mirrors which starred Keifer Sutherland.
We hear the scribes are on set during certain gore/kill scenes so it sounds like this sequel is being cared for and looked after in stead of most sequel rush jobs we get, who knows maybe this one will be better than it’s predecessor! God we hope so.
Synopsis:
“When Max (Stahl), a recovering addict, takes a job as a night-time security guard job at his father’s department store, he begins to see visions of a young woman in the store’s mirrors.
