Exclusive: In an expansion of its Lab program, the Black List has named the projects and writers for its inaugural Projects Lab. The six writers are developing feature projects they intend to direct. The Lab program, now in its eleventh year, provides creative mentorship and professional support to promising screenwriters during a weeklong workshop in Ojai, CA.

The first act of Alex Lehmann‘s Meet Cute is incredibly deceiving because it nearly convinces you that the rest of the film that will follow is going to be good. Lehmann seemingly has the ability to make a solid first act nailed down, but manages to lose sight of any original ideas...

Kaley Cuoco and Pete Davidson were looking stylish for the New York premiere of their new film Meet Cute which is coming to Peacock. The satirical rom-com follows Cuoco as a single New Yorker Shelia who discovers a time machine and uses it to continuously retry moments of a date the night before with a guy named Gary (Davidson).

Davidson and Cuoco showed more chemistry even on the red carpet by talking and laughing before the premiere. Davidson wore a comfy-looking hoodie with green sweatpants, while Cuoco stunned in a dazzling silver and gold sequined dress cut like a blazer.

Cuoco also recently appeared in the action comedy film The Man From Toronto and picked up her second Emmy nomination for her lead performance in The Flight Attendant. Davidson just departed Saturday Night Live this Spring and has also appeared in Bodies Bodies Bodies and as the title character in the critically-panned 2022 animation Marmaduke.

In Meet Cute, Peacock’s bumpy romantic comedy, girl meets boy in a nondescript bar. After some awkwardly endearing pleasantries and a round of Old-Fashioneds, they take their conversation to the underlit streets of New York City. Sparks fly. The young adults fall into a lustful stupor. They part ways, promising to see each other soon. The next day, girl meets boy at the same bar. Pete Davidson and Kaley Cuoco’s upcoming romantic comedy film will premiere exclusively on Peacock Sept. 21, the streamer announced Tuesday.

Titled “Meet Cute,” after the well know rom-com trope, the film focuses on Sheila (Cuoco), a woman who uses a time machine to repeat a first meeting between her and Gary (Davidson) in order to engineer a love at first sight date. Participating mentors include Minhal Baig (Hala), Jessica Bendinger (Bring It On), Scott Myers, David Rabinowitz (BlackKklansman), Kiwi Smith (Legally Blonde), and Chris Weitz (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story).

The Episodic Lab provides mentorship and career opportunities to six rising women television writers over the course of a year. The Lab runs twice weekly for four weeks beginning on October 6 and will consist of script development, peer workshopping sessions, and Master Classes with established writers and industry executives. Lab participants will have their final pilots read by agencies and networks. Participants will work with advisors and Master Class teachers Monica Beletsky (Parenthood), Carly Wray (Westworld), Sono Patel (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), Glen Mazzara (The Dark Tower), among others.
