Ben Zazove & Evan Turner Tapped To Pen ‘Space Invaders’ Film For New Line Based On Taito Arcade Game
Image
Exclusive: New Line has enlisted screenwriters Ben Zazove and Evan Turner to pen a Space Invaders movie, inspired by the classic Taito arcade game, Deadline has learned.

No word yet on specifics, as to the story they’re spinning here. Weed Road Pictures’ Akiva Goldsman will produce alongside Safehouse Pictures partners Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell, with Greg Lessans & Rachel Wizenberg overseeing for Weed Road, and Matt Schwartz overseeing for Safehouse Pictures.

One of history’s most iconic arcade games, and one of the pioneering titles in the shoot ’em up gaming genre, Space Invaders tasks players with defending Earth from an alien invasion, shooting down waves of invaders moving across the screen before they reach the ground. Tomohiro Nishikado developed the title, released by Taito in 1978.

Space Invaders‘ commercial success has been described as the catalyst for the golden age of arcade gaming in the late ’70s and early ’80s.

Is Adam Devine’s Fixed for Kids? Parents Guide for Netflix’s New Animated Film
Image
Adam Devine’s upcoming movie, Fixed, is definitely not for kids. The animated movie is strictly rated R by the MPAA for strong s**ual jokes, drug use, and violence, which means it’s for adults only. Anyone under 17 should watch it with adult supervision. This movie is directed by Genndy Tartakovsky (you might know him for his work in Dexter’s Laboratory and Samurai Jack).

Other such movies, such as Big Mouth, F Is for Family, and Paradise Pd, to name a few, are also in the same section as Fixed. These flicks are often bright and colorful, something that kids are extremely fond of. But these are surely not what you’d like to catch your kids watching.

So, here’s a parent’s guide for Netflix’s Fixed.

CategoryReasonS*x and N*dityCrude s*xual jokes and innuendos, references to make male genitalia. In the trailer, the main...

‘Fixed’ Review: Genndy Tartakovsky’s Canine Comedy Aims for Low-Hanging Fruit
Image
Genndy Tartakovsky has spent much of his career considering what’s appropriate for children, whether at Cartoon Network or at the helm of three Hotel Transylvania films. Now, with the R-rated Fixed, he’s off the leash, and using traditional animation rather than CGI. But even if Tartakovsky achieved a sense of catharsis from being able to animate a dog’s bouncing nutsack, it doesn’t translate to a fulfilling viewing experience.

That nutsack belongs to Bull (Adam DeVine), but not for long. His human owners have had enough of him humping everything from Grandma’s leg to the backyard garden hose, and now he’s set to be neutered. Bull, though, isn’t about to take this lying down—especially when it might ruin his chances with the show dog next door (Kathryn Hahn). So he breaks out of his backyard and sets out for a raucous night in the city,...

‘Fixed’ Review: Genndy Tartakovsky’s Netflix Animated Feature Is a Hilariously Dirty Delight
Image
Not since Ralph Bakshi’s Fritz the Cat and its sequel have cartoon animals gotten so down and dirty as they do in the latest animated effort by director Genndy Tartakovsky. Depicting the travails of a dog facing the fate alluded to in the title, Fixed plays like a canine version of The 25th Hour, except that instead of going to prison the next day, the main character is about to be neutered.

Those who are easily offended may want to steer clear of this Netflix movie, co-scripted by Tartakovsky (Samurai Jack, Hotel Transylvania) with Jon Vitti (The Simpsons). But if, let’s say, South Park is a regular part of your animated diet, you’ll find plenty of amusement in this relentlessly raunchy and vulgar comedy.

A perfectly cast Adam DeVine plays the central role of Bull, who is clearly experiencing the male dog version of heat. He’s relentlessly horny,...

With a $30 million production budget, Fixed is a relatively inexpensive film compared to others of its kind, like Coco ($175 million) and Elio ($150-200 million). Of its $30 million, a major chunk was attributed to animation and special effects, leaving...

Fixed (Fantasia) Review: A throwback animated comedy full of heart, buttholes and adult humor
Image
Plot: From visionary director Genndy Tartakovsky comes “Fixed,” an adult animated comedy about Bull, an average, all-around good dog who discovers he’s going to be neutered in the morning! As the gravity of this life-altering event sets in, Bull realizes he needs one last adventure with his pack of best friends as these are the last 24 hours with his balls! What could go wrong…?

Review: If you have ever had an animated film recommended but brushed it off by saying that cartoons are for kids, you are missing out. From the pantheon of Japanese animated fare that rival live-action projects to classic American films like Heavy Metal, animation has been a medium with just as many projects aimed at adults as it has towards children. In recent years, movies like Sausage Party have amped up the raunch factor to reclaim animation for mature audiences. Still, Seth Rogen’s food-oriented...

Netflix’s New Releases Coming in August 2025
Image
An Oxford-set college rom-com from the guy behind The Inbetweeners; the return of one of Netflix’s biggest ever shows; Genndy Tartakovsky’s latest adult animated project; Vanessa Kirby’s return to more intimate dramas about the human condition; a documentary that promised to shed new light on the Jussie Smollett hate crime incident; and a murder mystery film featuring several British and Irish acting icons are some of the highlights among the new films and series hitting Netflix in August.

Kicking off August is the rom-com My Oxford Year, which focuses on the tried and trusted formula of a young American girl heading to stuffy old Europe and finding love with some impossibly handsome and terribly charming guy, so it’s almost guaranteed to find a huge audience. In this instance, Sofia Carson plays Anna, an ambitious American student at Oxford University whose life is changed when she meets...

Netflix has just dropped a brand new look, a sneak peek trailer for Fixed, the upcoming adult animated comedy from Emmy-winning director Genndy Tartakovsky. Why Did Adam Devine’s Fixed Take 16 Years to Release on Netflix? Details Revealed
Image
After 16 years of development limbo and multiple studio shakeups, Genndy Tartakovsky’s long-awaited animated movie, Fixed, will finally premiere on Netflix on August 13, 2025. The movie stars Adam Devine as a dog trying to enjoy one last wild night before getting neutered. Fixed was first pitched in 2009 but faced years of delays, partly due to studio hesitations over its adult content.

Originally pitched at Sony Pictures Animation, Tartakovsky’s project was shelved after new executives rejected the R-rated concept. Tartakovsky told The Hollywood Reporter,

New executives came in, and they’re like: Yeah, we don’t want to do this.’ Back then, in 2008/09, things were different. Nobody’s making R-rated films. This is pre-Sausage Party [ Seth Rogen’s raunchy animated hit from 2016], pre-all that stuff.

Later, it bounced to New Line Cinema under Warner Bros., only to be shelved again during David Zaslav’s cost-cutting purge at Warner Bros. Discovery. Eventually,...

Fixed Review — Genndy Tartakovsky’s Triumphant Return Is an Artistic Adult Animation
Image
Animator Genndy Tartakovsky made a name for himself with Cartoon Network shows like Dexter’s Laboratory and Samurai Jack, establishing him as one of the voices to watch in animation in the ‘90s and early aughts. Because of this, animation fans won’t dismiss his latest work as just another raunchy adult animated movie — although it doesn’t lack the raunchy fun — Fixed is a genuinely artistic, well-made picture with the unmistakable touch of its creator.

Fixed Review

Fixed follows a horny mutt who discovers that his humans are going to take him to the vet in the morning to be neutered, causing him to go out on the town for one last night of debauchery before losing his manhood. The best way to describe this film is like The Hangover if it were made for Adult Swim, and it’s just as crazy as that sounds.

The Filthiest Movie Of 2025 Is An Animated Netflix Release – And The Trailer Is Here
Image
Genndy Tartakovsky is an absolute legend of animation. He helped usher a new era of animated creativity on TV during the dawn of Cartoon Network with "Dexter's Laboratory" before going on to redefine all-ages animation yet again with the cartoon masterpiece that is "Samurai Jack." And while Tartakovsky's big-screen efforts have been pretty much aimed at kids up to this point, specifically with the "Hotel Transylvania" movies, he's finally returning with his first feature film in seven years ... one that's less "Dexter's Laboratory" and more "The 40-Year-Old Virgin."

Tartakovsky's "Fixed" has a very simple premise: A dog learns he's getting neutered the next day, so he decides to enjoy one last wild night out on the town with his best buds to let his testicles party before they depart. Yes, this is an animated movie about dog balls — and it is gloriously animated in 2D.

The first trailer for the film is here,...

Fixed: Red band trailer goes balls out for adult animated comedy
Adam Devine
It’s been a couple of months since we first got images from upcoming adult animated feature Fixed, but now we have the first teaser – and it makes good use of its red band label.

In the red band teaser, we meet Bull (voiced by Adam Devine). Two years later, he’s humping away at anything and anyone he can. But before he heads to the vet to get, well, fixed, he’s going to go out for one wild night with his dawgs to chase some tail – be it puppy or squirrel.

Starting with the trope of “getting the guys out for one more wild night”, Fixed director and co-writer Genndy Tartakovsky (the Hotel Transylvania movies) thought it would be fun to put that into the world of canines. As he told Netflix Tudum earlier this year, “I have been friends with the same group of four guys since high school.

'Pitch Perfect' Star Gets One More Night of Fun Before He's 'Fixed' in Netflix's Red Band Dog Comedy Trailer
Image
Adam Devine is about to lose his family jewels. With a month left until the release of Genndy Tartakovsky's raunchy animated dog comedy Fixed, Netflix released the official red band trailer introducing Bull, a generally good dog played by the Pitch Perfect star who enjoys life with his family. However, everything changes when he finds out he's about to be neutered, leaving the pooch one night to enjoy his balls before they're gone for good. Cue one final adventure for Bull and his pals to ensure he squeezes as much out of his nuts in the 24 hours they have left. Alas, from the looks of the trailer, their night on the town is about to get wild in ways the canine companions never fully anticipated.

The footage starts wholesome enough with the father of the house introducing the young, bright-eyed Bull fresh from the shelter. Two years later, and he's a lean,...

‘Fixed’ Red Band Trailer Gives a Taste of Just How Naughty Netflix’s Animated Dog Comedy Is
Image
Genndy Tartakovsky’s R-rated animated dog comedy “Fixed” is nearly here.

The movie, which was stuck in limbo after original distributor New Line Cinema backed down following the film’s completion, will arrive on Netflix on August 13. And ahead of the movie’s debut, the streamer has released a red band trailer, which you can watch below. Make sure the kids are out of the room, as it definitely leans into the movie’s outrageousness.

In “Fixed,” a dog named Bull (voiced by Adam Devine) is facing his day of reckoning – the day that he is fixed. Convinced that it’s an act of mutilation (and that his human family doesn’t love him), he heads out on a hedonistic voyage with some of his best dog pals for one last hurrah. It’s absolutely insane and yet oddly sweet, like if “Lady and the Tramp” was mixed with Spike Lee’s “The 25th Hour.

‘Fixed’ Trailer: Genndy Tartakovsky’s Animated Dog Story is Definitely Not For Kids
Image
For two decades, animation auteur Genndy Tartakovsky has been pushing the limits of kids’ animation, via beloved shows like “Dexter’s Laboratory” and “Samurai Jack.” In recent years, he’s largely abandoned the constraints of children’s media entirely, with his latest projects like the “Samurai Jack” reboot and “Primal” airing on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim block and indulging in violence and gore befitting the grown ups who grew up watching and loving his old classics. His latest project, feature film “Fixed,” is mature in a completely different way, telling a dog story with wildly puerile and filthy sexual humor. And that’s on full display in the Director’s Cut trailer, which Netflix released this Thursday.

Directed by Tartakovsky and co-written by him and Jon Vitti (best known for his work on “The Simpsons”), “Fixed” focuses on 24 hours in the life of Bull (voiced by Adam DeVine), a good-natured...

Cameron Diaz To Lead New Netflix Action Comedy 'Bad Day'
Image
Cameron Diaz's return to acting is set to continue with another partnership with Netflix. Once one of Hollywood's most sought-after actresses, Diaz retired on her own terms back in 2014 to focus on her family. She got back into the acting spotlight with the Netflix action comedy, Back in Action, and now she's continuing that union with another endeavor.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Diaz is set to lead the action comedy Bad Day, a film directed by Jake Szymanski from a screenplay by Laura Solon. The movie is said to be a comedic take on the 1993 drama, Falling Down, which starred Michael Douglas and was directed by Joel Schumacher. In that film, Douglas portrayed a man who was taken to his mental limits while trying to make it to his daughter's birthday party. In Bad Day, Diaz will play a single mother who is trying to keep a promise to...

The 12 Best Comedy Central Shows, Ranked
Image
The early days of cable were glorious. TV sets didn't go dark for hours at a time. Instead, people had 24-access to whatever entertainment they wanted, and this led to a proliferation of specialty channels that focused on one thing. Enter The Comedy Channel and Ha!, which focused mostly on sitcom reruns and old movies. These two channels would later merge into a single entity, Comedy Central, with a greater emphasis on original programming.

It didn't take long for the Comedy Central to find its footing and release a sizable selection of animated series, sketch comedy shows, and stand-up specials. The channel soon became the place to visit to see what emerging comedic talent was ready to break into the mainstream. Considering that comedy is subjective, it may be difficult to rank the best Comedy Central shows of all time. What's hilarious to one person can be grating to another.

The Righteous Gemstones actor Adam DeVine has opened up about a scary situation where he was misdiagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome (Sps), twice! DeVine spoke about the topic in a recent interview with Parade, revealing that a childhood accident led to the misdiagnosis. “When I was a kid, I had a bad accident, and that’s when I was 11. 10 Years Later, Robert De Niro's Comedy That Should've Won Him an Oscar (According to Quentin Tarantino) Is a Hit on Streaming
Image
Robert De Niro is one of the best actors of all time, who has received eight Oscar nominations, winning two of them. However, filmmaker Quentin Tarantino thought he gave an Oscar-worthy performance in a comedy he wasn't nominated for: 2015's The Intern.

De Niro might have starred in many gangster films, but he has also starred in other genres like comedies. For The Intern, he teamed up with legendary director Nancy Meyers and Oscar-winning actress Anne Hathaway. The Intern recently premiered on Netflix, and it quickly became a streaming hit, Tudum reports.

The Intern hit Netflix on June 22, and it didn't waste time to attract viewers. For the week between June 23 and June 29, The Intern landed in the global Top 10 in fourth place. It received 5.6 million views and 11.3 million hours viewed.

The numbers are even more impressive when accounting for the fact that it was only available in one territory: the U.

Netflix's Long-Awaited R Rated Animated Comedy 'Fixed' Finally Let Out Of Its Cage
Image
It's been a long and winding road for animation legend Genndy Tartakovsky to get his animated film Fixed made, making it a miracle that it was finally able to premiere at the Annecy Film Festival this past week, a little over 16 years after Tartakovsky first conceived of the idea for the film and pitched it to Sony. Now, a release date has finally been confirmed for the long-in-development film, which has changed hands at several studios throughout the decade, before finally settling with a distributor. Following the premiere at the festival, we now know when we can finally see Tartakovsky's raunchy 2D animated comedy.

It has been officially revealed that Fixed will be released on Netflix worldwide on August 13, making it just under two months until the animated film, which was almost never made, is finally available for everyone to watch. While the original pitch for Fixed (a dog and...

‘Fixed’ Review: Very R-Rated Hot-To-Trot Dog Cartoon Tries Hard To Be Outrageous & Succeeds- Annecy Animation Festival
Image
In Fixed, premiering at the Annecy International Festival of Animation in France, Netflix has a nice feature film companion piece for its oh-so-adult animation shows like Big Mouth. This one about a pooch named Bull fetting over the imminent loss of his doggie testicles — or so he thinks — is in the vein of Seth Rogen’s very Seth Rogenish 2016 toon Sausage Party and going way back to the king of the genre Ralph Bakshi’s 1972 Fritz the Cat, which was sold with the ad line, “We’re not rated ‘X’ For nothin’, baby!”

That animated breakthrough announced loudly and proudly that cartoons are not always kids stuff, but quite frankly, compared to Fixed, it might as well have come from Disney.

Credit Sony Pictures Animation for this production, and I am not sure why they unloaded it to Netflix, but you can bet kids will have a lot more access...

Adam Sandler and Genndy Tartakovsky in Hotel Transylvania (2012)
Everything is coming up Genndy for oddball filmmaker Genndy Tartakovsky as favorable reviews and word of mouth about his latest animated feature, Fixed, continue to spread online. Adding to the praise for his R-rated “Lady and the Tramp meets Shaving Private Ryan” animated comedy, Tartakovsky is making headlines for his next project, Heist Safari, a high-octane animated action comedy telling the story of three frog brothers who rob a bank. According to the project’s logline, Heist Safari, “Seems simple enough, but the execution is special as !#&$??!!!!”

Heist Safari comes to Adult Swim one year after the concept was pitched on stage at Adult Swim President Michael Ouweleen at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. Recently, while speaking at the Cartoon Network panel, Tartakovsky said, “It feels like when I was younger, I feel like that energy makes me still want to do new things,” regarding his restored desire to create off-the-wall animation.
