One of history’s most iconic arcade games, and one of the pioneering titles in the shoot ’em up gaming genre, Space Invaders tasks players with defending Earth from an alien invasion, shooting down waves of invaders moving across the screen before they reach the ground. Tomohiro Nishikado developed the title, released by Taito in 1978.

Space Invaders‘ commercial success has been described as the catalyst for the golden age of arcade gaming in the late ’70s and early ’80s.

Adam Devine’s upcoming movie, Fixed, is definitely not for kids. The animated movie is strictly rated R by the MPAA for strong s**ual jokes, drug use, and violence, which means it’s for adults only. Anyone under 17 should watch it with adult supervision. This movie is directed by Genndy Tartakovsky (you might know him for his work in Dexter’s Laboratory and Samurai Jack).

Other such movies, such as Big Mouth, F Is for Family, and Paradise Pd, to name a few, are also in the same section as Fixed. These flicks are often bright and colorful, something that kids are extremely fond of. But these are surely not what you’d like to catch your kids watching.

After 16 years of development limbo and multiple studio shakeups, Genndy Tartakovsky’s long-awaited animated movie, Fixed, will finally premiere on Netflix on August 13, 2025. Animator Genndy Tartakovsky made a name for himself with Cartoon Network shows like Dexter’s Laboratory and Samurai Jack, establishing him as one of the voices to watch in animation in the ‘90s and early aughts. Because of this, animation fans won’t dismiss his latest work as just another raunchy adult animated movie — although it doesn’t lack the raunchy fun — Fixed is a genuinely artistic, well-made picture with the unmistakable touch of its creator.

Genndy Tartakovsky is an absolute legend of animation. He helped usher a new era of animated creativity on TV during the dawn of Cartoon Network with "Dexter's Laboratory" before going on to redefine all-ages animation yet again with the cartoon masterpiece that is "Samurai Jack." The early days of cable were glorious. TV sets didn't go dark for hours at a time. The Fantasia International Film Festival will celebrate its upcoming 29th edition with an electrifying program of screenings, workshops, and launch events running from July 16 through August 3, 2025, returning to the Concordia Hall and J.A. de Sève cinemas, with additional screens and events at Montréal’s Cinéma du Musée and Bbam! Additionally, Fantasia has announced that it’ll be presenting a Cheval Noir Career Achievement Award to animator and director Genndy Tartakovsky, as well as musical icon Danny Elfman. The festival will also present the Canadian Trailer Blazer Award to actor Sheila McCarthy, and the Denis-Héroux Award to producer Anne-Marie Gélinas. Lloyd Kaufman will also receive the inaugural Indie Maverick Award for his decade-long dedication to the weird, gross, and wild.

The 29th edition of the Fantasia International Film Festival is set to run from from July 16th (one day earlier than previously announced) through August 3rd at the Concordia Hall and J.A. de Sève cinemas in Montreal, with additional screenings and events at Cinéma du Musée. The first wave of titles that will be shown at the festival this year were revealed a couple months ago, the second wave of titles dropped four weeks ago, and now the final wave of titles has been unveiled! De Niro might have starred in many gangster films, but he has also starred in other genres like comedies. For The Intern, he teamed up with legendary director Nancy Meyers and Oscar-winning actress Anne Hathaway. The Intern recently premiered on Netflix, and it quickly became a streaming hit, Tudum reports.

The Intern hit Netflix on June 22, and it didn't waste time to attract viewers. For the week between June 23 and June 29, The Intern landed in the global Top 10 in fourth place. It received 5.6 million views and 11.3 million hours viewed.

Elizabeth Banks and Max Handelman’s Brownstone Productions has inked a first-look deal with Universal Television (Utv), Variety has learned exclusively.

The company was previously set up under an overall deal at Warner Bros. Television. Under the deal, Brownstone will develop and produce TV series with Utv across all platforms. Furthermore, Brownstone has promoted Anna Hughes to vice president and Kristen Spence to creative executive. They will report to Krissy Wall, who is Brownstone’s head of television. It's been a long and winding road for animation legend Genndy Tartakovsky to get his animated film Fixed made, making it a miracle that it was finally able to premiere at the Annecy Film Festival this past week, a little over 16 years after Tartakovsky first conceived of the idea for the film and pitched it to Sony. Now, a release date has finally been confirmed for the long-in-development film, which has changed hands at several studios throughout the decade, before finally settling with a distributor. Following the premiere at the festival, we now know when we can finally see Tartakovsky's raunchy 2D animated comedy.

In Fixed, premiering at the Annecy International Festival of Animation in France, Netflix has a nice feature film companion piece for its oh-so-adult animation shows like Big Mouth. This one about a pooch named Bull fetting over the imminent loss of his doggie testicles — or so he thinks — is in the vein of Seth Rogen’s very Seth Rogenish 2016 toon Sausage Party and going way back to the king of the genre Ralph Bakshi’s 1972 Fritz the Cat, which was sold with the ad line, “We’re not rated ‘X’ For nothin’, baby!”

That animated breakthrough announced loudly and proudly that cartoons are not always kids stuff, but quite frankly, compared to Fixed, it might as well have come from Disney.
