‘How to Deter a Robber’ VOD Review
Image
Stars: Vanessa Marano, Leah Lewis, Abbie Cobb, Chris Mulkey, Gabrielle Carteris, Sonny Valicenti, Jonah Ray, Benjamin Papac, Nikki Crawford, Deanna Rooney, Arnold Y. Kim | Written and Directed by Maria Bissell

There have been a number of fairly recent horror/thriller movies that have been marketed as the horror or ‘adult’ version of Home Alone. Now, Home Alone is one of my favourite movies ever and a more adult orientated version should be perfect. Unfortunately it’s not quite as simple as that and although 1989’s Deadly Games is great, nothing since has really captured that same Christmas feeling with a bit more of an edge. How To Deter A Robber is the latest movie to try.

In it, we see a young couple initially suspected of the number of burglaries in their small town. But when their own home gets robbed, they have to face off against the real criminals.

‘How to Deter a Robber’ Review: A Stale Home-Invasion Comedy
Image
The story of a high school girl who’s forced — alongside her dimwitted boyfriend and kind uncle — to fend off a pair of armed thieves, “How to Deter a Robber” delivers the blandest take possible on its home-invasion scenario. With low stakes and even lower energy, writer-director Maria Bissell’s feature debut isn’t sure if it’s a thriller with amusing elements or a comedy of criminal absurdity. What it winds up being, therefore, is neither,

During a Christmas getaway at a lakeside cabin, Madison (Vanessa Marano) spars incessantly with her mother, Charlotte (Gabrielle Carteris), while failing to come up with a college application essay that impresses any of her relatives. Bored and annoyed, she and her immature beau, Jimmy (Benjamin Papac), spy a light on in the neighbor’s house and — in a decision that seems unbelievable from the get-go — decide to break in, play with the absent...

Horror Highlights: Pretty Boy, I Who Have No One, Nest Of Vampires, How To Deter A Robber

Pretty Boy: "Pretty Boy, the follow up to the award-winning film Blind, has completed principal photography. Pretty Boy, directed by Marcel Walz and written by Joe Knetter, continues the story they set in motion in Blind.

Pretty Boy just finished the Post Production with Company 3

Marcel Walz (Director)

“Filming Pretty Boy the way we did was a dream comes true for me. It is beautiful, fun, gory and creepy. Seeing our Killer, “Pretty Boy”, slashing through this love letter to the 80s is what I have always wanted to do! Also, as an LGBTQ Director, I could go crazy on set design for the Valentine’s party and overall theme in the movie, so be prepared for a lot of pinks, glitter and some intestines Lol!“

Joe Knetter (Writer)

“Filming Pretty Boy was an amazing experience. Every single person on the cast and crew brought their ‘A’ game. Getting...

Shannen Doherty Goes Full Diva in 'Unauthorized Beverly Hills, 90210' Clip
Never mind Hurricane Joaquin. The real hot mess headed our way this weekend is Lifetime' s "Unauthorized Beverly Hills, 90210 Story," which premieres Saturday night. Expect Twitter to be brutal. But we already love it, especially after watching the exclusive clip TVLine shared.

Watch it here.

We see "Shannen Doherty" (Samantha Munro) living up to her diva reputation, demanding that she wear a certain red dress for a photo shoot. (How "Heathers" of her.) Meanwhile, Jennie Garth (Abbie Cobb) argues that it's her turn to wear red.

The clip starts with Shannen saying it's not up for debate. She's wearing the dress. Tori Spelling (Abby Ross) asks why Shannen gets to be the one to wear it. "Because I'm No. 1 on the call sheet," Shannen replies. "What's so hard to understand here? If either one of you is No. 1 on the call sheet, you get to wear the red dress." Jennie keeps pushing for it,...

Film Review: Chaotic Comedy ‘Moms’ Night Out’ Has Wholesome Content, Toxic Attitude
Chicago – Liberty is a concept expressed only in irony with “Moms’ Night Out,” a female-driven minivan comedy that instructs ultimately to listen to thy husband for it is Biblical, even if thy husband is a child himself. Like sad Mitt Romney and his chocolate milk, this PG-romp is a brief walk on the wild side from the rules that await at the end of the night.

Rating: 1.5/5.0

Unfortunately, while taking out the substance abuse of a Judd Apatow or Todd Phillips arc, this shiny film exorcises the substance that comes with a freer perspective of the world. “Moms’ Night Out” diverges into a film that cannot offer its viewers freedom from the the evil spirits that make a world so toxic, as the film itself is so narrow-minded.

The intentions of “Moms’ Night Out” start out innocent enough, with a zippy beginning that provides false promise for focused filmmaking. Its...

Maeve Quinlan Draws From Personal Experiences For ‘Teenage Bank Heist’
Plus, learn about Maeve's work with Go Girl Energy Drink and the ABC Family hit 'Beverly Hills Nannies.' Most Lifetime movies tell twisted tales of relationships gone wrong — but Maeve Quinlan's new thriller, Teenage Bank Heist, isn't one of them. Premiering Nov. 9 at 9 p.m., the movie tells the real-life story of a bank teller whose teenage daughter Cassie (Abbie Cobb) is taken captive during a heist. But there's a twist: Cassie may have inadvertently helped the bank robbers! "It's not your typical Lifetime movie," Maeve tells HollywoodLife.com, "and I like that they're really taking a chance and doing something completely different. Maeve also applauds the film's mostly-female cast, noting that she was particularly blown away by Abbie, Cassi Thomson and Rosa Blasi's performances. "Don't get me wrong; there are men in the movie, and they're fantastic," she assures us. "But it really is a female-driven movie.

90210 Season 5 Spoiler: Crazy Jasper & Annie’s Evil Cousin Emily Returning
Crazy Jasper & Annie's evil cousin Emily returning in this new 90210 season 5 shocking spoiler. Hollywood Life and their sources recently revealed that Annie is going to be in for a nightmarish treat when they bring back her crazy ex-boyfriend Jasper and her evil cousin Emily in the 100th episode. Abbie Cobb plays Emily and Zachary Ray plays crazy Jasper. If you'll recall, Jasper tormented Annie with blackmail when she refused to be with him in season 2. Then Emily tried to steal Annie's life by making her look bad in season 3. So,they're return should definitely be quite interesting to say the very least. Unfortunately, no plot details were given for their return, but hopefully, they'll make it extremely crazy. They say that Liam actor Matt Lanter told them, "we might see several past characters come back. We get a little bit of new information about what some of these characters have been up to.

'90210' gets a visit from Emily and Jasper for its 100th episode
The cast of "90210" recently celebrated the filming of their 100th episode with guest star Carmen Electra, who will appear in several Season 5 episodes, but we'll also see a few familiar faces returning for the milestone outing.

According to HollywoodLife.com, Abbie Cobb, who plays Annie and Dixon's weirdo, life-stealing cousin Emily, and Zachary Ray Sherman, who plays Annie's psycho, drug-dealing ex-boyfriend Jasper, will return for the 100th episode.

No word on the context of their re-appearance, but because both had ties to Annie it seems like a safe bet to assume it'll be a big deal for Shenae Grimes' character. Wonder if the stress involved in Dixon's recovery will add to the pressure Annie is facing this year...

Any theories on why Jasper and Emily are coming back?...

90210 Scoop: Emily & Jasper Returning For 100th Episode
Abbie Cobb & Zachary Ray Sherman will reprise their gone-but-not-forgotten characters, HollywoodLife.com has learned exclusively. 90210 is bringing back the ghosts of Annie's (Shenae Grimes) past for the show's upcoming 100th episode, airing later this year, which is sure to make for one crazy reunion — literally. Multiple sources confirm to HollywoodLife.com exclusively that Abbie Cobb (Annie's psychotic cousin Emily from season three) and Zachary Ray Sherman (Annie's drug-dealing boyfriend Jasper from season two) will both be featured on the milestone episode. Emily, who temporarily lived with the Wilson family in season three, moved back home after failing to steal Annie's life. Jasper was given considerably less closure, suddenly disappearing after a tense confrontation with Liam (Matt Lanter) on the second season finale. I recently asked Matt about the highly anticipated 100th episode, and he teased a few dramatic reunions: "We might see several past characters come back," he told me.

NCIS Los Angeles Season 4: Abbie Cobb’s Recurring Role Pairs Her With Kensi
I’m not afraid to admit I’m more than a little stumped by the recent casting of Abbie Cobb on NCIS: Los Angeles. It has nothing to do with Cobb herself, but everything to with the character she’s playing. I long ago became used to the fact most casting announcements come with next to no information in order to keep their Internet saavy audiences guessing, but occasionally the lack of information just confuses the hell out of me, and Cobb’s casting is just one such occasion. But before I get into just why I find it so confounding, let’s at least get through the unhelpful info.

According to TVLine, Cobb snagged the potentially recurring role of Astrid, a young woman who turns up to rattle Agent Kensi Blye’s cage. Head honcho Shane Brennan said Astrid would make her first appearance in Episode 2 where a relationship...

The "Modern Family" cast may look a little different when Season 4 kicks off in September. Yes, the cast has settled their contract dispute and will all return, but one character is being recast: Jay and Gloria's dog, Stella.

According to TMZ, Stella, who has been played a French bulldog named Brigitte, has been let go by Hollywood agency Good Dog Animals. The part of Stella will now be played by Beatrice, another French bulldog. Request for comment from ABC was not immediately returned.

"Modern Family" made headlines in July after five cast members -- Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Sofia Vergara, Eric Stonestreet and Jesse Tyler Ferguson rejected a new contract offer and then sued 20th Century Fox Television, delaying the start of Season 4. Ed O'Neill, who was negotiating separately, also joined the lawsuit, but the cast members have settled with 20th Century Fox and production on Season 4 will continue as planned.

‘True Blood’ Recap: Vampire Tara Faces Her First Kill
Plus, Sookie faces off against Pam — before making a major confession. I don't want to say nothing happened on the June 24 episode of True Blood, but I will say it was a relatively calm week in Bon Temps. The night did, however, set the stage for some pretty epic story lines to come, including the return of the fairies. (Yep, they're back.) Hurricane Tara (Rutina Wesley) continued her rampage through town, but totally choked when faced with her first potential victim — and yes, for all you 90210 fans, that was totally cousin Emily (Abbie Cobb) who almost became Tara's dinner. The baby vamp eventually took shelter at Merlotte's, but when life among the undead became too much for her to handle, she hightailed it to the nearest tanning salon, where we left her attempting suicide in a tanning bed. (That final scene brought back unsettling memories of This Scene from Final Destination 3.) As always,...

Wow, as much as I hate Emily she’s great at making Annie look bad! (Do you think Emily will succeed in taking over Annie’s life? She’s getting really close to it!)

Naomi’s (AnnaLynne McCord) secret crush on her lab partner Max is getting hotter and now it’s starting to haunt her dreams!

Andy’s ‘90210′ Recap: Adrianna Is The Worst, Most Selfish Person Ever & Deserves To Lose Everything
Seriously, she sucks — and the girls finally told her off on the Jan. 31 episode of ‘90210!’

The ladies of 90210 have had, like, really hard weeks — so they decided to de-stress with a girls’ weekend at a yoga retreat! Silver (Jessica Stroup) needed to clear her head after stealing her best friend’s boyfriend, Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord) needed to find peace after confronting her rapist, and Adrianna (Jessica Lowndes) apparently still needed to deal with the guilt of giving up her baby two years ago. Oh, to be 17 again.

But just when the girls thought Adrianna was turning over a new leaf, Ade offered to sell her whole story to the tabloids. And what’s worse? She’s going to try to get her baby back — all for the sake of publicity. Worst. Person. Ever.

Michael Steger says Navid and Adrianna are “pretty much over.” Click to read! Jessica Lowndes says Adrianna...

90210 Review: Ptsd for Everyone!
The 90210 writers didn't try very hard to give us contrasting storylines this week, did they?

On "Liars," we watched as Adrianna faked Ptsd, and then as Ivy actually suffered through it. We also saw Navid unable to end his relationship with Adrianna due to the current state of her life... and Annie unable to end her relationship with Charlie due to the current state of Liam's life.

Did anyone else experience a feeling of deja vu when they watched the conversation between Annie and Liam at the Beach Club?

It wasn't just that this development so closely resembles the triangle between Navid, Adrianna and Silver; it's that 90210 is in serious danger of permanently angering all Lannie fans. You can only tease a relationship so many times before viewers simply get annoyed at the obstacles being thrown in between a pairing.

Has the show reached that point with Annie and Liam?...
