Next July is going to be a big month for Tom Holland. Not only will the actor be reprising the role of Peter Parker for Spider-Man 4, but he’ll also be starring alongside Matt Damon in Christoper Nolan’s The Odyssey. The two films were previously slated to hit theaters within a week of one another, but Sony Pictures has shifted the release date for Spider-Man 4, pushing the film back to July 31, 2026. That’s now two weeks after The Odyssey is due to hit theaters on July 17th.
That’s still mighty close, but it does provide a little more breathing room between the two movies. We don’t know much about Spider-Man 4 at this point, only that Holland will be returning and that Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton will be taking the helm. In October, Holland said the script was coming along nicely.

“Bubble & Squeak” (2025) is an absurd marriage drama that puts companionship under a microscopic lens. It does that in a script filled with outlandish elements that seem straight out of a children’s book. Imagine a kid letting their imagination run wild and writing down every idea that popped into their head the moment it did. That’s how a lot of its gags sound. The film shows a European officer (Matt Berry) offering his unmistakable Werner Herzog impression and expecting his subordinates to speak only in English as they walk through the forest, looking for a couple accused of smuggling cabbages in a country where they are illegal.
The couple in question, Declan (Himesh Patel) and Delores (Sarah Goldberg) is an oddball duo. Declan is thoroughly analytical and looks at things so clinically that he sucks the life out of them. Delores is full of life and a sense of wonder.

Did Christoper Nolan add more actors to The Odyssey’s cast list? (Photo Credit – Instagram)
All of these actors are also extremely well-known faces from the industry, including Elliot Page, Himesh Patel, and more.
Christopher Nolan is currently busy perfecting his star cast for his upcoming movie, ‘The Odyssey.’ The feature film is an adaptation of the Greek epic poem written by Homer. The storyline revolves around the Greek King Odysseus and his struggle-filled journey to his home in Ithaca from the Trojan War. On that 10-year journey, Odysseus had to face many hurdles and interruptions from many people (including Gods). The plot also covers how his wife and son deal with aggressive suitors while the King has been away from his kingdom.
Nolan’s feature project already confirmed the lead star cast, including Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron and Jon Bernthal.

In Evan Twohy’s twee debut feature Bubble & Squeak, a couple gets detained by police while honeymooning in an unnamed country. We meet Declan (Himesh Patel) and Delores (Sarah Goldberg) in an ascetic holding area, anxiously awaiting their interrogation. When Bkofl, an attending officer played by Steven Yeun (also a producer on the film), walks into the room, he, with humorous solemnity, asks the couple if they are smuggling cabbages into this vaguely Slavic-coded province.
It’s a strange but grave accusation. This tiny country has a charged relationship with cabbages, which were forced upon its people during a long, abstract war. The vegetable is now illegal and most of the population abhors it. Declan and Delores deny the claim. These American honeymooners know better than to sneak in contraband. Odd, then, that the room smells like cabbage and even more curious that the couple, the moment they are left unattended,...

Writer/director Christopher Nolan threw us for a loop when it was revealed that his follow-up to the acclaimed award-winning atomic bomb biopic “Oppenheimer” would be a modern adaption of the classic Greek myth epic “The Odyssey” by Homer. Guy Pearce recently re-watched Christopher Nolan’s Memento, a film he very memorably starred in, and let’s just say he didn’t like what he saw.
Have you ever found an old video or a photo of yourself and wondered what happened there, how did I let myself get immortalised in a situation like this? Maybe it was a terrible haircut or a really bad outfit, or perhaps an old taping of a school play and your memories of it don’t quite match what’s playing on screen.
For Guy Pearce though, that moment came with a rewatch of Memento.
That’s right, Christopher Nolan’s breakthrough film, that many of us remember fondly, had Pearce seemingly shuddering with disgust.
In an interview with The Times (here via Variety), Pearce recounts his experience watching himself as Leonard, a man suffering from amnesia, who uses tattoos – and other memory aids,...

One of the most fun news threads of late 2024 was getting a weekly (or sometimes daily) casting announcement for Christopher Nolan’s planned take on The Odyssey. It ran through October to the year’s end. In Bubble & Squeak, Evan Twohy introduces audiences to Declan (Himesh Patel) and Delores (Sarah Goldberg), a married couple experiencing a chaotic honeymoon in an unnamed Eastern European country. Their unconventional travel choices lead to a comedic crisis when they get detained for smuggling cabbages—a crime with severe repercussions in this strange setting.
The situation becomes more outlandish upon discovering Delores has hidden a massive number of vegetables in her pants, which serves as a turning point for their story. As the couple encounters increasingly weird scenarios—including a rough customs officer and a cabbage smuggler dressed as a bear—their experiences expose underlying tensions in their relationship.
The film sits within absurdist comedy, blending social commentary with unexpected humor. Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” has added four more names to its cast, including three stars the “Oppenheimer” filmmaker has worked with previously.
The Wrap has learned that Himesh Patel (“Station Eleven”), Elliot Page (“The Umbrella Academy”), Bill Irwin (“Legion”), and Samantha Morton (“Minority Report”) have all joined the cast of Nolan’s forthcoming adaptation of Homer’s epic Ancient Greek poem. The film’s latest additions join an ensemble that already includes Tom Holland, Matt Damon, Robert Pattinson, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, John Leguizamo, and Jon Bernthal.
Earlier this week, Benny Safdie also signed on to star in “The Odyssey,” following his turn as Edward Teller in “Oppenheimer.” The new film marks a reunion, though, between not just Safdie and Nolan, but also the filmmaker and multiple past collaborators, including Damon, Pattinson, and Hathaway. What do you do when you’ve been to the vast reaches of space, reversed the temporal flow, ventured into the dreamscape – and, most importantly, swept the Oscars? With a three-hour, doom-laden, politically-driven historical drama, no less? In the wake of Oppenheimer, Christopher Nolan could do basically anything. His choice: go full Homer with an adaptation of epic Greek poem The Odyssey. It should add a new quiver to the legendary director’s bow – his first swords-and-sandals epic, possibly his first fantastical film, and one that brings him a new leading man.
With pre-production rapidly ramping up on Nolan’s next movie, here’s what we know so far:
Tom Holland is said to be the lead
It’s been a while since we’ve seen Tom Holland on our screens – following Uncharted and Apple TV drama The Crowded Room, he’s been treading the boards on the West End in Romeo & Juliet.

Some words are just funnier than others. That’s why, for a deft bit of physical zaniness involving a spork in the mostly droll comedy Bubble & Squeak to work, one of the characters needs to say the word “spork.” It earned my laughter, but that moment is also potentially an acknowledgment that much of what precedes it in writer-director Evan Twohy’s film hinges on the nearly incessant repetition of a much less innately funny word: cabbage. Twohy gets a lot of mileage out of that word, and the contrast of its blandness with the furious emotions attached to it, but not quite enough to power the entire film.

The streaming wars remain a struggle in juggling quantity and quality. How do you come up with the idea for an absurdist dramedy about cabbage smuggling? For Evan Twohy, the writer-director of “Bubble & Squeak,” it began with a writing exercise.
“It was sort of a writer’s exercise, I think, of finding a character who does something incomprehensible, and then sort of punishing them with the worst punishment possible,” Twohy said at TheWrap’s Sundance Studio presented by World of Hyatt. “And then from there, it’s been this long journey over the last decade and a half of sort of trying to make that character and her husband make sense, and sort of locating them in an emotional place, given that it starts from this place of pure absurdity.”

The multi-hyphenate touched down in Park City, Utah this weekend ahead of the world premiere of her festival selection Kiss of the Spider Woman from filmmaker Bill Condon. But before Sunday night’s showing at the Eccles, Lopez reminded fest-goers and revelers of her other talents by jumping into the DJ booth at Tao Park City.
Lopez joined DJ Chase B for a surprise performance at the Casamigos-fueled pop-up, which again proved to be the late-night hot spot. Said to be “in good spirits” upon arriving to Tao according to an insider, Lopez mingled with friends (including Unstoppable co-star Jharrel Jerome and Kiss of the Spider Woman co-star Tonatiuh) and danced it up as Chase B played her hits like “Jenny from the Block” and “Get Right.”
Then came the surprise performance. Lopez, wearing a full look from...

Suspending your disbelief is a requirement for viewing “Bubble & Squeak,” writer-director Evan Twohy’s directorial debut. A couple honeymooning in a country that bans cabbage doesn’t exactly scream romance — and there is none here. Because before Declan and Delores can even begin celebrating their nuptials — the culmination of a long courtship where they felt more compelled to buy a house together than to say “I do”— they are detained in customs.
When an agent informs them of their crime of smuggling contraband cabbage into the country, Declan is flabbergasted; he cannot fathom why anyone would put cabbage in their pants to go on vacation. The problem, however, is that Delores has done just that.
Cabbage, it turns out, is banned in this unnamed Slavic country because of its critical role in the nation’s collective trauma. Smuggling it carries a hefty price: large sums of money, dismemberment and maybe even death.

“We should have gone to Bora Bora like the Pattersons,” says Delores (Sarah Goldberg) in Bubble & Squeak, writer-director Evan Twohy’s feature debut. A quirky, prescriptively surreal comedy in the vein of the late Jeff Baena, with a hefty debt to the two Sacha Baron Cohen Borat movies, it’s a very Sundance kind of funny that goes all in on a very bizarre premise. If you go with it, it will take you all the way, but for those with a low tolerance for cheerfully madcap bonkersness, its lean 97 minutes may well seem like an eternity.
The pre-credit sequence very quickly sets the scene. Delores and her husband Declan (Himesh Patel) are sitting in a nondescript, steely-gray office room, where they have been waiting for well over an hour. The two Americans are on honeymoon, preferring to go “off the beaten track,” and their wanderlust has taken them to a strange,...

Writer/director Evan Twohy has been conceiving his debut feature “Bubble & Squeak” even before it completely made sense to him. The ridiculous comedy, which follows a couple experiencing a strange honeymoon in a foreign land, began 15 years ago, but it wasn’t until years later that Twohy was finally able to crack it. Stopping by the IndieWire Studio presented by Dropbox at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, Twohy and his cast, which features Dave Franco, Himesh Patel, and Sarah Goldberg, broke down what makes “Bubble & Squeak” so unique and how they grounded the strangeness that permeates throughout the film.
“It’s this thing that’s absurd inherently,” Twohy said of the narrative, “and I think there is this process of sort of taking this thing that’s illogical and absurd, and then as an adult, much older, trying to make sense of it and apply it to my life...

Park City – Here’s the good news. There isn’t one actor in Evan Twohy‘s directorial debut, “Bubble & Squeak,” who doesn’t deliver a committed, funny performance. The film’s leads, the always-good Himesh Patel and Sarah Goldberg have fantastic chemistry as a couple on the run in a fictional foreign country. Steven Yeun, also a producer, pulls out an unexpected Eastern European accent as a customs officer and Dave Franco comes correct as an international smuggler who uses a bear suit for cover.
