Quick Links We May Be Closer to an 'Edge of Tomorrow' Sequel Doug Liman and Tom Cruise's Next Project Goes Deep
The sequel to Edge of Tomorrow, titled Live Die Repeat and Repeat, has been a long time coming for fans of the sci-fi action flick that saw Tom Cruise caught in an infinite time-loop, fighting against an alien invasion. The project was initially announced in March 2019, but a series of delays have led to it being in constant limbo. This has been attributed to Tom Cruise's schedule, continued attention to the Mission: Impossible franchise and Emily Blunt also facing consistent scheduling conflicts. Director Doug Liman also spoke about not wanting to return to the project unless he was excited about the script.
On the corporate end, despite Edge of Tomorrow becoming a fan favorite, Warner Bros. considered the box office performance 'modest'; it earned $370.5 on a $178 million budget.

Fortunately, the superb actor-director has settled on a project seeing Tom Cruise exploring the deep sea. Quick Links How Does Edge of Tomorrow Differ From the Book? Edge of Tomorrow Has a Happier Ending Than the Book Edge of Tomorrow Stands on Its Own Amazingly Well
By and large, the last decade has been, with a few exceptions, a dire one for blockbuster filmmaking. And thats exactly why 2014s Edge of Tomorrow, 10 years after its release, remains a breath of fresh air. Taking equal inspiration from pulp science-fiction, the Groundhog Day-esque time loop subgenre, and the structure of a video game, Edge of Tomorrow mixes all of these disparate elements into something clever and exciting. Its also unexpectedly a dark comic delight, with Tom Cruise poking fun at his action star persona and Emily Blunt proving a fantastic foil.

"We made a deal. You broke it." Samuel Goldwyn has revealed the official US trailer for a Finnish action thriller titled Attack on Finland, which is the international release title. It also goes under Omerta 6/12 or 6/12, which is a reference to December 6 the Finnish Independence Day. A celebration during the holiday in Finland takes a tragic turn when the Presidential Palace is attacked and the president is taken hostage. Soon it is clear that the main target behind the attack is a plan to destabilize the security of Europe. That sounds a lot like Finland's version of Olympus Has Fallen or White House Down. The action film's cast includes Jasper Pääkkönen, Nanna Blondell, Sverrir Gudnason, Cathy Belton, Nika Savolainen, Pertti Sveholm, Juhan Ulfsak, Zijad Gracic, Miodrag Stojanović, and Dragomir Mrsic. This looks hyper-stylized and intense, but it also feels a bit made-for-tv in quality. Still may be an entertaining watch.

Back in July, more than one full year after Edge of Tomorrow hit theaters in summer 2014, star Tom Cruise teased that a sequel may be in the works, having pitched an idea to director Doug Liman and screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie. We haven't heard anything official regarding this follow-up since then. But today, we have word that Edge of Tomorrow 2 is moving forward, with Deadline reporting that Warner Bros. has hired screenwriters Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse to write the script. Christopher McQuarrie is in talks to produce and develop the script with the new writers.
Edge of Tomorrow is set in the future, where a war has been unfolding between humans and an invading alien race. Tom Cruise plays Major William Cage, an officer who has never seen a day of combat and is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to a suicide mission. Killed within minutes, Cage now finds himself...

Tom Cruise's Edge of Tomorrow wasn't exactly a massive box office blockbuster when it hit theaters last summer, but it still fared quite well. The sci-fi action-thriller took in just over $100 million domestically and $369 million worldwide from a whopping $178 million budget. While the profit margin wasn't quite as big as some were expecting, the film was met with critical acclaim, leading some to wonder if a sequel is even possible. While promoting this weekend's Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation, Tom Cruise revealed to MTV that he actually pitched his own idea for Edge of Tomorrow 2 to screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie and director Doug Liman, and although he wouldn't divulge any specific plot details, he did add that Emily Blunt will have to be involved.
"I pitched it to [Rogue Nation director and Edge of Tomorrow screenwriter Christopher] McQuarrie and [Edge of Tomorrow director] Doug [Liman]. We were there one night and I was like, I've got an idea for it. It could be so much fun.

Anybody who has played computer games (and who hasn’t?) knows how useful the restart option is, or the more annoying forced respawn from death. To die at a tricky part of the level and just be able to restart at a checkpoint or recently saved position helps you adapt your strategy and retry what you did wrong, till you finally make it past that tough part and reach the end of the level. This is exactly what Tom Cruise has the ability to do in Live Die Repeat: Edge of Tomorrow.
Tom Cruise plays Major William Cage, an arrogant PR man for the human war machine fighting against the alien invasion that has overtaken most of Europe.

Warner Bros. Pictures released their new Tom Cruise branded, Sci-Fi/thriller flick, "Edge Of Tomorrow" into theaters this weekend. I just checked it out, and thought it was absolutely great. The plotline was super intriguing from beginning to end. It offered up a plethora of hardcore, nonstop action and drama. It stars: Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt, Bill Paxton, Jeremy Piven, Ciaran Hinds, Noah Taylor, Kick Gurry, Dragomir Mrsic, Charlotte Riley, Jonas Armstrong, Franz Drameh, Masayoshi Haneda, and Tony Way. In the new flick, the world has been battling an alien species, called the Mimics, for the past 5 years. Nato militaries have federated to create the United Defense Forces (Udf), with defeats escalating as the war continues. As the Mimics tighten their grip on Europe, the introduction of armed mechanized exoskeletons ,called Jackets, allows the Udf to achieve a decisive victory at Verdun. From there, we get introduced to Major William...

Title: Edge of Tomorrow Directed By: Doug Liman Starring: Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt, Bill Paxton, Brendan Gleeson, Jonas Armstrong, Kick Gurry, Franz Drameh, Dragomir Mrsic, Charlotte Riley, Noah Taylor Vicious aliens, wicked combat and Tom Cruise charm are all good fun, but what’s the point when the story makes no sense? Cruise is Major William Cage. He’s in the army and has a high rank, but he’s a man of media relations, not combat. When his superior (Brendan Gleeson) decides it’s time for the world to see him in battle, Cage finds himself face-to-face with invading ETs donning an ExoSuit equipped with heavy artillery he doesn’t know how to operate. Before he brought his enigmatic presence to American audiences in AMC’s The Killing and the recent remake of Robocop, Swedish actor Joel Kinnaman found stardom in Europe thanks to the smash hit Easy Money. The 2010 Swedish crime drama, adapted from a novel by Jens Lapidus, cast Kinnaman as Jw, an intelligent but misguided business student from the wrong side of the tracks who becomes a drug smuggler in order to afford the wealthy lifestyle of his upper-class peers. The diverse group of criminals he gets mixed up with includes Chilean Jorge (Matias Varela), Serbian Mrado (Dragomir Mrsic) and Lebanese Mahmoud (Fares Fares). The first film ends with Jw in prison, but that doesn't prevent him from getting into further trouble in Easy Money: Hard to Kill, the film’s 2012 sequel.

‘Edge of Tomorrow’ review: Tom Cruise, the Last Movie Star, makes latest alien invasion movie ‘exceptionally entertaining’ (photo: Tom Cruise in ‘Edge of Tomorrow’) Hiroshi Sakurazaka’s popular illustrated novel All You Need Is Kill was originally published in 2004, and has seen a number of adaptations and republications, including serialization as an even more popular manga in Japan and, translated from the original, an American graphic novel recently republished as Edge of Tomorrow. The latter is a better title for a movie, particularly a summer blockbuster featuring the last movie star, the full depth and breadth of his star powers at work in every scene — as he is literally in every scene — turning what would have been a serviceable military sci-fi adventure movie into an exceptionally entertaining sci-fi drama that reminds one what the purpose of a movie star is: to make the audience care about characters and events they...

The epic action of “Edge of Tomorrow” unfolds in a near future in which an alien race has hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault, unbeatable by any military unit in the world. Lt. Col. Bill Cage (Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to little more than a suicide mission. Killed within minutes, Cage now finds himself inexplicably thrown into a time loop—forcing him to live out the same brutal combat over and over, fighting and dying again…and again. But with each battle, Cage becomes able to engage the adversaries with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Blunt). And, as Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated encounter gets them one step closer to defeating the enemy. Since it’s not based on well-known material (the source is the novel All You Need Is Kill), it was flying under the radar in a summer packed with sequels and name properties. Warner Bros. has released four new clips and 26 pictures from the upcoming Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt, sci-fi actioner Edge of Tomorrow, which is already getting high marks from critics, though I must say, the TV spot quoting someone calling it an "instant classic" makes it sound like someone needs to take a step back and reevaluate their reviewing sensibilities. The film finds Cruise playing Lt. Col. Bill Cage, an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously demoted and then dropped into combat. Cage is killed within minutes, managing to take an alpha alien down with him. In Edge Of Tomorrow, the world is at war with an indefatigable alien force no army, let alone individual, can conquer, and the greatest battle is still to come. Countless men and women will fight and all will be lost to these “Mimics,” unless the United Defense Force’s least likely recruit can succeed in employing a most implausible strategy: Live. Die. Repeat.
In the film, Tom Cruise plays Major William Cage, a military PR man who’s never been to the front line but who, thanks to his ill-advised threat to a four-star general, ends up trapped in an alien-induced time loop, fighting for his life… and death.

The premise itself is fascinating enough, but this trailer shows more of the relationship between Cruise’s cowardly character and Blunt’s warrior as the two are in training, and it looks incredibly promising. I also really like the aesthetic that Liman has settled on for the film, and the set pieces look absolutely thrilling. Hit the jump to watch the new Edge of Tomorrow trailer.

Here’s a new trailer for the upcoming film Edge of Tomorrow starring Tom Cruise as a military officer who is killed within minutes of a doomed combat mission to take down a hive-like alien race. He wakes up and is forced to relive the day over and over again, allowing him to become a better soldier each time. It’s the Groundhog Day of sci-fi movies! The trailer shows a lot of action and finally some meat to the story which until now didn’t have me sold on this movie at all.
In the featurette, Blunt explains that her character once had the same ability, and while she eventually lost it, it allowed her to become a much better soldier. So maybe with all this becoming a better soldier message, the moral of the movie is going to be to keep on trying and you’ll become better at stuff.

A new featurette has been released for Edge of Tomorrow. The film stars Tom Cruise as a military officer who is killed within minutes of a doomed combat mission to take down a hive-like alien race. He wakes up and is forced to relive the day over and over again, but it allows him to become a better soldier, and perhaps change his fate thanks to the help of a fellow officer played by Emily Blunt. In the featurette, Blunt explains that her character once had the same ability, and while she eventually lost it, it allowed her to become a much better soldier. Now she's going to train Cruise's character, which involves killing him a lot. This makes the exercise seem like a video game: every time you die, you get better. Tom Cruise is Super Meat Boy. Hit the jump to check out the Edge of Tomorrow featurette.
