Following the epic season two finale of Doctor Who (which welcomed a new Doctor), viewers were treated to a first look at the next chapter in the “Whoniverse,” The War Between the Land and the Sea.

You can now watch the official teaser and check out the first images of Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Salt and Russell Tovey as Barclay by scrolling down.

The five-part series also stars Jemma Redgrave, Alexander Devrient, Ruth Madeley, Colin McFarlane, Adrian Lukis, Patrick Baladi, Francesca Corney, Mei Mac, and Vincent Franklin.

Epic First Trailer Revealed for Doctor Who Spin-off “The War Between the Land and the Sea”

After the action-packed season two finale of Doctor Who, fans got a first look at the next big story in the Whoniverse. The new spin-off is called The War Between the Land and the Sea, and it’s coming soon with a brand new cast of characters.

In this new show, something terrifying rises from the ocean, an ancient and powerful species that shocks the whole world by making a dramatic appearance. As panic spreads and danger grows, Unit steps up to protect the human race while a full-on battle begins between the land and the sea.

Russell Tovey plays a character named Barclay, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw takes on the role of Salt. Alongside them, the cast includes Jemma Redgrave, Alexander Devrient, Ruth Madeley, Colin McFarlane, Adrian Lukis, Patrick Baladi, Francesca Corney, Mei Mac, and Vincent Franklin.

‘Citadel’ VFX Outfit Signs Chief Business Officer

Good Omens 2 and Citadel VFX outfit Milk has snapped up a former Dneg exec as Chief Business Development Officer and Exec Producer. Marianne Speight will lead the outfit’s new business and bidding teams, supporting group studios in London, France, Spain and Ireland. Working closely with Milk’s production team, she will focus on securing new business and developing stronger strategic relationships with major content partners across the industry. Speight is a 20-year industry vet who has previously held roles including Global Head of Bidding and Development at Dneg and VFX Producer at Scanline. Milk has recently delivered the likes of Good Omens 2, Citadel and Gerard Butler-starrer Kandahar. “Marianne has enjoyed a stellar career and we look forward to her bringing her energy, experience a’d connections to help us drive the next stage of our growth,” said Milk Executive Chairman Jag Mundi.

BritBox has a proven track record for fine British drama, and the streaming service's August slate sounds very promising. 

Headlined by Sleepy Hollow's Tom Mison and New Amsterdam's Janet Montgomery, The Ex-Wife will make its exclusive US debut on August 10.

Earlier in the month, the Scottish crime drama Granite Harbour featuring Romario Simpson, Hannah Donaldson (The Crown), and Katia Winter will debut on August 1.

Based on Jess Ryder's hit psychological thriller of the same name, The Ex-Wife tells the story of Tasha, a young woman who feels like she is living the dream: she has the perfect house, a loving husband, and a beautiful little girl.

BritBox International Adds UK Dramas ‘Granite Harbour’ & ‘The Ex-Wife’ To August Slate

Exclusive: Best-of-British streamer BritBox International has added a pair of British dramas to its August slate in the U.S.

Detective drama Granite Harbour will launch on August 1 and psychological thriller The Ex-Wife will premiere on the streaming service in the U.S. on August 10.

Granite Harbour, which BBC One and BBC Scotland ordered out of the UK last year, is a licensing deal but is being badged as a BritBox Original.

The series stars Romario Simpson as Lance Corporal Davis Lindo, who envisions becoming a Scotland Yard detective after completing his tour with the Royal Military Police, only to find himself training in Aberdeen in northeast Scotland. He strikes up an unlikely friendships with his mentor, Dci Lara ‘Bart’ Bartlett, played by Hannah Donaldson (The Crown), and the duo find themselves in of a corporate power struggle when a wealthy and notable Aberdonian dies under suspicious circumstances.

BBC One greenlights Aberdeen-set drama ‘Granite Harbour’

BBC One has greenlit Granite Harbour, a three-part Scotland-set drama series featuring rising talents Romario Simpson (Small Axe) and Hannah Donaldson (Annika). The show from LA Productions centers on the story of Lance Corporal Davis Lindo, who arrives in Aberdeen as a new recruit to Police Scotland. Having completed his final tour with the Royal Military Police, Lindo dreams of being a detective at New Scotland Yard. However, he finds himself being sent to train as a Detective Constable in the North East of Scotland, he must quickly adapt to his new life in Aberdeen, a world away from anything the soldier has known before.
